Yesterday’s soup du jour was mostly tatty crystal jellies with a twist of sea-foam scum. And this drifting stop-light — the remnants of a massive compass jelly. Oh to have witnessed this raft of gelatinous gorgeousness in its not-dead form.

ଳ 𝘊𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳 ଳ Along with many other jellyfish species , 𝘊. 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳 medusae need to prey on other jellyfish for their nutrition, being also called "medusivorous" 🤓 When keeping medusivorous species in captivity, I usually give them ephyrae (recently released medusa) of other jellyfish species for a healthier growth! In the video, you can see 𝘊. 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳 capturing an ephyrae of 𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘩𝘪𝘻𝘢 𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘢, the Australian White Spotted jellyfish! 👀 🎥: Medusascience (© IMDuarte)
