Did you know that it is already kitten season?
Did you know that feral cats are more likely to have and spread diseases due to not being vaccinated?
Stray cats who are also not spayed/neutered are more likely to fight, which can also spread disease.
Only 25% of feral kittens live past the age of six months. Many die from disease, predators, other cats, or lack of nutrition.
Did you know kittens can actually start reproducing at the age of four months?!
While feeding feral cats is a kind thing to do, we must also focus on spaying/neutering and vaccinating them as well to better their health and prevent disease and overpopulation.
It is very important that if you find a litter of kittens or a single kitten. Please leave them alone unless they are in immediate danger. You can monitor from a distance to make sure Mom comes back. A lot of the time, kittens are taken when not necessary. Shelters and rescues do not always have the resources it takes to care for multiple litters. If you are unsure if you need to intervene, please reach out to resources for guidance.
