📣 Advocates! 🕯️ Join No Kill San Antonio for another Candlelight Vigil, in remembrance. We invite the community to help collectively grieve for the countless animals that lost their lives at San Antonio Animal Care Services and on the streets of San Antonio.

🕰️ WHEN: Saturday, January 25th, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

📍 WHERE: Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair. We will have flameless candles available or you can bring your own- but no open flame. There is parking nearby in the Hemisfair garage or lots.

💔 We encourage personal participation in this public display- bring the names or portraits or anything that helps you remember an animal from the shelter that did not make it out. You may also post in remembrance with those names or pictures in comments below. ⬇️ In this way, they will live on and their memory will serve us as motivation in our fight for justice.

🚫 The current method of sheltering operations at San Antonio Animal Care Services results in the regular killing of healthy or treatable and adoptable animals. Thousands are dying in the shelter, but tens of thousands of unaltered animals are left to multiply on the streets. The current method has little compassion and yet still doesn’t change the root of the problem. As an alternative- The NO KILL EQUATION offers an achievable method of sheltering that addresses concerns for both public safety and the humane treatment of animals at the shelter.

🛑 A shelter should be a safe haven- not a death sentence. The current policy of killing shelter animals doesn’t make the community safer, nor will it control the stray and roaming populations. These animals have evolved as our companions, and it is our duty to do our very best for them as they do for us in so many ways serving our community.

🐾 Many animals enter ACS physically distressed, hungry, spiritually-defeated and fearful. With a ‘stray hold’ of just three days, and little to no holds for owner surrenders (or foster returns), animals have little time to decompress before their time is up. In this new, loud and stressful environment many are wrongly assessed and never have a chance at a life. 5 days or less is not enough!
