THIS IS WHY WE CANNOT SAVE THEM ALL :( Almost 3000 Dogs in just ONE MONTH came into the pound....... CITIZENS of SAN ANTONIO NEED TO DO BETTER!! This is a Community issue, that won't be fixed without Community involvement.
The rescuers are TIRED AND FULL, YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.

2281 pets found homes this December!

584 pets were adopted

121 pets went to foster care

821 pets left with rescue partners

755 pets were reunited with their families

354 pets were humanely euthanized. Of these pets, 223 were humanely euthanized due to capacity; these pets were at our shelter for their stray hold or longer but did not find placement (adoption, foster, rescue transport). 59 pets were humanely euthanized due to critical medical issues, and 72 pets were humanely euthanized due to displayed behavior that posed a threat to public safety. Please know our team thoroughly evaluates each pet for adoptability before making this tough decision.

Countless shelter animals are still looking for forever homes, and your crucial support can make a meaningful impact in our community. Join ACS and our rescue partners to help more pets find homes through adoption, fostering, rescue, donation, and advocacy. Fostering a shelter pet saves lives, freeing up limited kennel space. You can sign up to be a foster at saacs.info/foster

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team members, compassionate rescue partners, and community members who generously contribute their time and effort to support our mission. We want to extend a special “Thank You” to all who made our first Home for the Howlidays Adoption Fair and Holiday Market a success! Thank you to our event fosters, volunteers, Rescue & Community Partners, vendors, staff, and attendees! Such a successful event would not have been possible without your support. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact in our community and provide shelter pets with the loving homes they deserve. Your dedication and enthusiasm made this event truly memorable for both the people and pets in attendance!
