Oh, the places you’ll go! This past weekend Hank, one of our board and train dogs, packed up and joined us on a road trip back to our hometown. One of the highlights was taking him to our alma mater where he happily explored campus, posed for photos, and charmed just about everyone who stopped to say hello.
Along the way Hank got to take in so many new sights and sounds. From city streets to quiet parks, to the train yard and historic spots, he was right in the middle of it all. Trips like this are a reminder of why we believe so strongly in real world training. Dogs live their lives with us in busy, unpredictable places. The more positive experiences they have in different environments, the more confident and reliable they become when it matters most.
Hank has been working hard in his program and this trip gave him the chance to practice everything he has been learning. He stayed engaged, handled distractions, and still managed to have the time of his life.
Training is about more than commands. It is about giving our dogs the skills to enjoy the journey with us, whether that means visiting our alma mater, walking down a new sidewalk, or heading out on the next big adventure. Hank’s road trip was just one chapter in that story, but it was a special one.
If you want your dog to build the same kind of confidence and skills Hank is learning, our board and train program might be the perfect fit. At Luke’s Lodge, we train for real life, not just the backyard.
