Sneak Peak!

Snowy had a great outing this afternoon at the Photos for Fosters event. I snapped this candid after he had his photos taken by a professional (and then promptly decided to sit in some dirt 😩😂).

I am SO PROUD at how well Snowy did today! He has come so far! He was very nervous at first, but loved meeting new people. He’s still dog shy, but he exceeded all of my expectations and kept his cool when a larger dog barked and lunged at him!

Snowy is the most chill but also the most anxious of the three amigos, so I had no idea how this little adventure would go. Of course, he was rewarded with a pup cup and a bite of brisket for being on his bestest boy behavior.

There’s still no word on how the boys’ mama is doing, unfortunately. But I know she’d be proud of them for all their hard work at becoming adoptable dogs, in case she’s unable to reclaim them.

It takes a few days for us to get the photos from the organization that sponsors this monthly event, but I’ll be sure to share them here when they arrive!

‘tis the season for heavy sheds and summer beds!

We’re still eagerly awaiting an update on the boys’ mom 🤞🏻🙏🏼, but Jeter, Pauly, and Snowy are doing well. January was rough on all of us, but we seem to be moving in the right direction again! It took a small fortune’s worth of calming treats, but the three amigos are definitely worth it.

On Tuesday, Pauly let me get two whole swipes in with the Furminator! Jeter has always enjoyed a thorough brushing, but Pauly and Snowy have been firmly entrenched in the “see the brush, smell the brush, I promise the brush is not your enemy” phase.

Well, today Pauly had a breakthrough and let me de-shed most of his body without a single protest! I don’t know how much of a difference it will make in the amount of dog hair I sweep up every day 😅, but it was really nice to have him cuddle up next to me for a little grooming session.

Snowy remains skeptical, but maybe now that his best friend has shown him that it’s really no big deal, he’ll warm up to the idea, too.

Speaking of warming up, it’s about to get *hot* here in South Texas, and it was about time to replace their beds anyway, so we’re going to give these elevated ones a try. Feel free to send all of the thoughts and prayers that they’ll use them and not try to eat them 🤪

First ride in the new-to-us truck!

Pauly and Snowy are on their way to get their monthly preventatives! Jeter had to stay home on this trip and he’ll go on Wednesday.

I also spoke with the trainers at ACS recently about how to help the boys with the anxiety we’ve been struggling with due to all the disruptions to our routine. I’m hoping that being able to take them for outings again now that we’re not in a rental will get us moving in the right direction, but the trainers suggested that we also start crate training so that each of them has their own happy space 🤞🏻. I’m also going to start looking into a board and train facility that can help us with some basic training skills.

We still don’t know what their mom’s status is, and we hope that she is continuing to heal.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Three Amigos!

My apologies for the lack of recent updates. There continues to be no news on their mama, unfortunately. She’s in our thoughts every day and we’re hoping her body is healing and she is able to make the fullest recovery possible.

January was a tough month…fireworks, rain, the deep freeze, and thunderstorms really disrupted our routine, and the boys regressed a bit after all the work we’d been putting in on socialization and house training. (I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but the boys weren’t inside dogs from what I‘ve been told.)

The icing on the cake was getting rear-ended at the end of January in a hit-and-run accident. Luckily no one was seriously injured, but we’ve been in a rental while the insurance company figures things out, which has really put a damper on our outings. Hopefully that gets squared away soon so that we can resume our pup cup trips and go on some sniff walks!

I’d like to thank the neighbor who decided to shoot of fireworks at midnight for getting all three boys to look at me at the same time!

They are clearly unimpressed.

It’s a great opportunity to get more bang for your buck if you’re looking to donate to local rescues!

Road Trip Photo Dump!

Ok, it was just a trip across the city to get our monthly preventatives from Animal Care Services, but still!

The load up was a little bit like herding cats 😂 but the boys did great once we got there. They didn’t even complain when they got their booster shots!

We have been working really, really, REALLY hard on building trust with the harness, and this was a huge milestone for Pauly. Sure, his leg’s not in the right hole, and, yeah, this one turned out to be a bit too small…but he finally let me put it on over his head and even snap the one strap that fit!

Sneak Peak!

A while back, I decided that it would be nice to convert my formal dining room into a dog room. There was one architectural element that’s been puzzling me as far as the best way to enclose that area (I don’t want to put a wall in, and a gate won’t work there), but when I saw this kennel, I knew I’d found a solution!

I still have to figure out the framing, but I wanted to share my only Black Friday purchase with y’all, because without YOU, I wouldn’t have been able to make it happen.

That’s right, all of the things you guys sent for Jeter, Pauly, and Snowy meant that I could use the money I’d have spent on beds, treats, and toys on a huge upgrade for the dogs! A huge THANK YOU from Me, Jeter, Pauly, Snowy, our Gideon and Ace, and every foster pup that will benefit.

An extra heartfelt thanks to Frank Whyte for volunteering his time and pick-up truck to help me haul it to the house on a holiday weekend, which helped save a considerable amount of money on shipping!

Guess who finally busted out of quarantine?!? And just in time for Coffee with a Cop at 7 Brew Coffee, where the nice Universal City Police Department officers hand fed him his first (with us) pup cup!

That’s right, it’s Jeter! He loved all of the attention, and went for a little walk to burn off those extra calories (mine and his 😂) when we got home.

Out of an abundance of caution, we’ll be taking the boys on outings one at a time until we all get a better feel for each other. Stay tuned for Pauly and Snowy’s first outings!
