My name is Hope! My mom calls me Hopey Schmopey, Schmope, Grey Girl, Grey Wizard, Schmopeasaur, and when I'm in trouble she uses my full name, Hope Elizabeth. I have lived with my mommy and scruffy sister Allie for three full years come November 2016, and I could not be more blessed. You see, I was rescued off the streets in Alamo Heights by a Good Samaritan who had a big heart for schnauzer dogs.
She took me to the great vets and people of Lincoln Heights Animal Hospital where she served as my virtual foster through San Antonio R.O.C.K.S. And that's where my mom found me! My mom has a huge heart for animals in need; she donates time, transportation and money to all of the different animal rescue organizations throughout San Antonio. While she was searching through dogs who needed help, she came across me on their page. I desperately needed a foster to help me get healthy. I would say it was love at first site (for me it was anyway!), but when my mom came to pick me up, I was worse off than she thought and that is why she named me Hope. I was heartworm positive, I had ringworms, severe dermatitis due to fleas and neglect, emaciated, unhealthy and sparse hair, and lastly, she did not know that I was a tripod. That's right, I am a tripod and proud of it! It's hard to tell from my picture up above since I am lying down, but you can visit my webpage or Facebook for more! I do have all four legs, however, due to a reason I cannot remember and one my doctors don't know for certain, I do not have function of my front left one and that's okay! Once my mom nursed me to health, she had adopters lined up but just couldn't pull the trigger. I know neither of us could imagine our lives any other way! Why donate? The San Antonio Humane Society is a "no-kill" shelter which maintains a 98.73% live release rate. The donations received go to help all of the animals at the shelter get healthy and ready for a forever home. I was very fortunate to be on the receiving end of a woman who vouched for me and paid for my vaccinations, x-rays on my arm, ringworm treatment, heartworm treatment, and boarding. Donations can help cover the organization pay for other procedures and items such as: spay/neuter, microchip, food, milk, toys, laundry detergent, blankets, kennels, etc. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. My mom, sister and I can't thank you all enough for your generous support! Please don't forget to forward this to anyone you think might want to donate to our Humane Society!
