🐾✨ Teaching Door Manners to Your Dog! ✨🐾

Does your dog get overly excited when someone comes to the door? Teaching proper door manners can help manage that energy and keep everyone safe and happy!

Here are some simple steps you can take to improve your dog’s behavior when guests arrive:

1️⃣ Manage the Environment: Use baby gates, crates, or a leash to prevent your dog from bolting towards the door. This sets the stage for calm behavior and preventing undesirable behavior.

2️⃣ Teach a “Place” Cue: Train your dog to go to a specific spot (like a mat or bed) when the doorbell rings. Reward them for staying in that spot until released.

3️⃣ Practice Makes Perfect: Rehearse the routine with friends or family members. Start slowly, gradually increasing distractions to ensure your dog remains calm and focused. Setups are key and door signs like this can help!

4️⃣ Be Consistent: Every interaction at the door is a training opportunity. Consistency is key to reinforcing good manners!

With patience and practice, your pup will learn that calm behavior at the door means good things happen! 🐶💙

Throwback Thursday to one of my original VIP'S (Very Important Pup) DOLLY 💕 When I first started grooming Dolly over 4 years ago I started off bathing in their tub and grooming on the restroom counter! They were some of my very first clients and I'm forever grateful for clients like them that have stuck with me throughout the years! Talk about full circle moment going back now and having the whole set up. It reminded me just how far I've come. Thank you to my clients and VIP'S who make this dream possible for not only myself but my family as well!
