Maria’s journey from peril to happiness will warm your heart 💕

Last Friday, this beautiful “tortie” was found in a drainage hole on the side of a highway overpass, stranded and alone. Thankfully, ACS Cadets Buttitta and Gonzales stepped up to the challenge, bravely rescuing this sweet kitty and bringing her to safety. After receiving a thorough evaluation and a clean bill of health, Maria was ready to begin her new chapter with a family of her own.

While browsing for adoptable pets on our website, Ms. N came across Maria and instantly fell in love with her. But the excitement didn’t stop there! Ms. N video called her best friend, who also has a "tortie," and introduced them to each other! It was an instant connection, and now, Maria has a forever home full of love and promise! We are thankful to everyone who played a part in Maria's rescue and her journey to her new family. Wishing this brave little lady all the happiness in the world as she embarks on her beautiful new life!

A miracle on 35...You're not going to believe this little girl's story..

Just 3 days ago, Mila was struck by a car while trying to cross Highway 35. Panicked, the driver pulled over, only to realize Mila was trapped behind the car’s grill. Desperate to save her, the driver called SAPD, who in turn reached out to our Animal Care Officers. Together, with care and urgency, they removed the grill—holding their breath as Mila WALKED out from inside the grill.

Remarkably, Mila didn’t suffer any serious injuries, but we took precaution having her examined at the Animal Emergency Room and in our own clinic, where she was given the all-clear. Today, Mila is greeting each visitor with a wagging tail, a love for treats, and a joyful trot around the yard.

Now, Mila’s waiting for a home that will cherish her gentle spirit and give her the loving family she deserves. If you’re ready to open your heart to this incredible soul, come meet Mila at ACS today. 🏡💖

Arnold is looking for a loving family to lean on. Is that you?

Last month, Arnold showed up on a resident’s doorstep, as if he was asking for help. This brave boy was in need of a hero himself, suffering from severe injuries to his leg, likely from an attack by another animal. His injuries were so intense that our medical team had to make the tough decision to amputate his leg to provide him with reprieve. But Arnold’s spirit? It’s unbreakable. 💪💙

Now a proud “tripaw’d” pup, Arnold hasn’t slowed down one bit! He’s still as bubbly, happy, and full of life as ever. He loves feeling the fresh breeze on his face, enjoys a good run, and adores playtime in the yard. This courageous boy is ready for a forever home where he’ll be loved just as fiercely as he loves life.

Are you ready to welcome a loving companion who will fill your days with joy and inspiration? Consider opening up your heart and home to this lovable boy. Sign up to foster him today by visiting saacs.info/foster.

We’re overjoyed to announce that Coco is back with her family! 🥳

Coco, a sweet 10-year-old golden girl, had been missing since April, and her family had feared the worst, holding onto hope that they’d one day see her again. That hope became reality last week when they spotted Coco's photo on our ACS page. She hadn't even been here a full day when they rushed to the shelter, and the moment Coco saw Ms. G, her eyes lit up with excitement!

We are so excited for her to be back with her loving family. Ms. G could barely contain her tears, and Coco’s joyful face said it all—she’s finally home. ❤️

Coco’s story is a perfect reminder of why keeping your pet's microchip up-to-date is so important. Her microchip was not registered with current family contact information, so thankfully her family was diligent in their search efforts to find her. Now everything is updated as it should be and Coco is safe and sound at home!

Welcome home, Coco! 🌟 Here's to more tail wags, belly rubs, and memories with your family.

Bristol wants you to know she’s a clever, loving girl who’s ready to find her furever family with you!

Found roaming and in need of a friend, Bristol was rescued off the streets by her amazing foster, Ms. A, in late August. Since then, she’s been having a blast learning how to be the goodest girl. She’s already got the basics down, like “sit,” “down,” and coming when called.

Her favorite things include toys, training, playtime, and cuddles, going for walks and being a regular a dog park regular.

Affectionately known as a “Velcro pup” by her foster mom, Bristol is ready to find a home that’ll love her just as much as she’ll love you! Email [email protected] to set up a meet and greet today!

Albert is learning to trust and looking for a furever family to help him continue to be brave!

This sweet pup arrived at ACS in late August, and under Mr. C’s foster care, he’s made amazing progress. Albert loves affection, treats, and toys. He knows already "sit," is potty trained, and has even learned how to walk well on a leash.

Though still a bit shy of other dogs, his confidence is growing daily. His foster shares, “Albert has come so far in these months. He’s learned he’s safe!" Mr. C loves Albert’s sweet personality and the way he chews on his blanket or stuffed animal during belly rubs.

Albert’s ready for a loving family to continue his journey. Could that be you? 🐾 Email [email protected] to set up a meet and greet today!

Pupdate: Copper (A724655) has been transferred into the care of a foster family! If you are interested in adopting Copper, please email our team at [email protected].
---
Can you give this gentle soul the loving home he deserves?

Copper arrived in our care just yesterday, quietly taking in the sights and sounds of this new, unfamiliar place. A mature pup, Copper doesn’t rush or demand attention—he’s a gentle soul who seems to know that good things come to those who wait.

We don’t know much about Copper’s past, but we do know he’s someone’s “slow and steady” kind of friend. He wanders at his own pace, sniffing out every detail with a quiet curiosity, and his eyes light up whenever someone speaks softly to him. His gentle tail wags, and he’ll lean in just a little, soaking up affection as if it’s the one familiar thing he knows he can hold onto.

Life brought Copper here through no fault of his own, but he doesn’t seem bitter or sad. He simply seems ready—ready for a new chapter, a new friend who can see past his gray-tipped muzzle and into the kind heart that’s waiting to bond.

If you’re looking for a companion to share quiet moments and simple joys, Copper might just be the one. He’s here, waiting to start fresh. Visit him at ACS today before 7 PM.

Ahem! Excuse me, wonderful humans! Are you tired of boring days and cold feet? Well, I’m Salem, here to solve both!

I’m a sweet and sunny pup who’s ready to fill your days with love, laughter, and, of course, belly rubs! I live for soaking up the sun on my walks, chasing after a ball, and being the best furry friend you could ever ask for.

A few weeks ago, I thought I had my forever home all lined up, but life threw a little curveball, and things changed. My potential adopter couldn’t take me home, so here I am—still waiting, still hopeful, and still dreaming of the day my forever family walks through the door.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion, I’m your girl! 🐶 Come meet me and see if I might just be the perfect addition to your family. I can’t wait to find my forever home! 🏡

Iroh is living the dream in his perfect forever home!

After arriving at the shelter, he was in search of a family that could match his playful spirit—and he found just that with Ms. F and her home.

It didn’t take long for Iroh to realize he’d hit the jackpot! His days are now filled with belly rubs, cozy naps, and plenty of treats. This lovable giant loves to wrestle before bed, making sure he’s all tuckered out for his favorite part of the evening: a long walk under the stars, where he explores the world around him. And when he's not out strolling, he's likely curled up on his cozy bed, catching a few winks or watching cartoons while Ms. F works. Yep, this guy knows how to enjoy his downtime!

Iroh’s quickly picking up all the basics! He’s already mastered the art of walking politely on a leash, can “sit” and “wait” like a pro, and jumps up on command for hugs and kisses (one of his personal favorites). Right now, he’s working on learning to “lay down” and loving every bit of praise that comes with each new trick.

The highlight of Iroh’s new life so far? His first road trip to Buc-ee's! Iroh soaked up every second of the adventure, especially the part where he got to sample treats, score his very own brisket sandwich (he’s quick with those paws!), and finish off with a pup cup on the way home.

While shelter pets may come from all walks of life, they can end up in wonderful, loving homes where they truly thrive. This sweet boy has truly found his place, and his family couldn’t be happier to spoil him every chance they get!

--
Tiny Tina was found in a heartbreaking state, lying helplessly beneath palm leaves, unable to move. A compassionate resident saw her struggle and quickly contacted 3-1-1 for help, bringing Animal Care Officer Kanski to her side. Carefully, Tina was brought to ACS, where our clinic team discovered her injuries likely resulted from being struck by a vehicle.

Despite the pain she endures, Tiny Tina hasn’t lost her gentle spirit. She greets people with a slow, hopeful wag of her tail, and though her body is healing, she still welcomes every soft word and gentle touch.

Tina is currently under medical care, but what she truly needs is a quiet, loving home where she can continue her journey to recovery. She’s a young pup, only 22 pounds, and still has so much love to give. If you’re someone who can offer her a calm environment, some yummy treats, and a lot of love, Tiny Tina could be the companion you’ve been looking for.

Please consider opening your heart and home to Tina. She’s been through a lot, but with a bit time and a lot of love, she’ll have a chance to heal and begin a new chapter. Sign up to foster her by visiting saacs.info/foster. ❤️

Huge thanks to the Animal Defense League of Texas for welcoming Samuel into their care last week and helping him take the final steps toward finding his furever family! 🏡💙

Samuel’s journey began in March 2023 when he arrived in our care in rough shape—his skin was raw, blistered, and painful. Despite the challenges ahead, our COO Bethany saw his potential and took him in as a foster, dedicated to helping him heal. ❤️

After 18 months of trials with different diets, medications, and an unwavering care routine, Samuel’s allergies are finally under control with a consistent grooming schedule, low-cost steroids, and easily accessible dog food. He’s now healthier than ever and ready for his next chapter!

Thank you, ADL, for helping this quirky pup in his journey to his furever family.

Those interested in adopting Samuel can contact ADL to meet him!
