A Diamond in the Ruff Finds Her Forever Home!

Back in February, a devastating fire tore through her home, separating her from her family. Her previous guardian tried to make things work while living with relatives, but unfortunately, the arrangement didn’t pan out.

In September, Diamond came back to ACS and went into a foster home with the amazing Ms. R, who provided her with love and care while she waited for her second chance. Despite the challenges, Diamond never lost her sparkle. ✨

Fate had other plans for this sweet girl. Mr. R spotted Diamond and saw the gem she truly is. Even though she tested positive for heartworms, Mr. R was determined to give her the care and love she deserves. He shared that one of the reasons he chose to adopt Diamond is because black dogs often get overlooked—and he wanted to give her a chance to shine!

Today, Diamond is thriving in her new home with Mr. R and his family, where she’s ready to sparkle brighter than ever. Her story reminds us that every pet has the potential to shine with her family by their side.

Despite facing tough life hurdles, this special kitty is now on the road to recovery and looking for his forever home. 🏡

Marshall came to us after being attacked by another animal just over a week ago. Our team quickly went to work to patch him up and get him on the road to recovery. Despite his injuries, Marshall is incredibly affectionate and loves nothing more than giving sweet head bumps and being held. He’ll happily curl up in your arms and let you know just how much he loves you. 🥰

Marshall was given a second chance at life thanks to the quick actions of compassionate community members and the incredible efforts of our clinic team. Now, he is ready to share his heart with a family who will cherish him forever.

Hi, I’m Bronx! I’m 2 years old, full of love, and ready to find my furever family. My foster family says I’m the perfect mix of playful and chill—let me tell you a bit about myself! 🐾

I absolutely love napping on the bed or couch with my favorite humans, chewing on my toys, and playing with my doggie foster siblings. I get along great with other dogs, cats, and kids of all ages. Basically, I’m everyone’s best friend!

When you get home, I’m super polite—I don’t jump all over you, but I’ll be so happy to see you! I’m curious about cats and will give them a sniff, but if they’re not feeling it, I’m happy to walk away. At night, I’m the ultimate cuddle buddy and an A+ TV companion.

I’m young and love to play, but I know when it’s time to settle down. My foster family says I’m sweet, loving, and just an all-around wonderful dog.

Oh Stacey, can’t you see, you’re just the girl for me! 🎶

When a 3-1-1 call came in about a pack of dogs in the neighborhood, ACS Officer Wetzel sprang into action. Upon arrival, she found Stacey. This shy girl greeted our officer with a wagging tail and gentle eyes.

With no microchip and no guardian found, Stacey was brought to ACS. While she’s initially shy, her sweet, calm demeanor and loving nature quickly win hearts. One of our staff members said it best: “Once you show her affection, she’ll shower you with love right back!” 🥰

FREE pet vaccinations + microchip clinics this weekend, Saturday, December 7th!

Animal Care Services, 4710 State Hwy 151 & Cuellar Park, 5626 San Fernando

Time: 9 am to 11 am

*Please note, services are for City of San Antonio residents only*.

In partnership with Animal Defense League Texas and Protect Your Pet, we’ll be hosting FREE pet vaccination and microchipping events every weekend throughout SA.

What to expect: Clinic services are available for City of San Antonio residents only. Limit to 100 pets served, 3 pets per household. All services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring a current picture ID for address verification.

For your pets: All canines must remain collared and on a leash or in an appropriate carrier. All felines must remain in a carrier, one adult per carrier or two kittens per carrier. Each eligible pet 12 weeks or older will receive a 1-year Rabies vaccine. DHPP vaccines will be provided for canines. FVRCP vaccines will be provided for felines. Each pet receiving services must be microchipped or will receive a microchip at time of service.

Pet guardians are required to clean up after their pets. Per Chapter 5-19, animal guardians must keep their pets on leashes and pick up after them. Failure to do so can result in a citation or ticket.

In early August, Bailey experienced the heartbreaking tragedy of losing her loving caregiver. With no known family member for her to go to, she was brought to ACS by Animal Care Officer Pusateri to find a new family. A week later, the M Family opened their hearts and home to foster this sweet, loving pup as she continues her search for her furever home!

Bailey is a cuddle enthusiast who thrives on being close to her people. She loves naps, sunbathing, car rides, and mealtime—and if you stop petting her, she’ll gently remind you to keep going! She knows tricks like “sit” and “touch,” and is a well-behaved lady when given free roam of the house.

Bailey gets along with dogs and older kids, though she may need a little time to adjust to new furry friends. She loves playing with her foster brother!

Bucky, affectionately known as Young Buck, is a 3-year-old German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. His foster parents say he’s the whole package: kennel trained, fantastic with kids, friendly with other dogs, and always curious about the world around him—cats and chickens included (he’s still working on boundaries there, but he’s a quick learner!).

This handsome guy loves spending time outdoors. Whether it’s a stroll through the park, running around the dog park, or keeping watch while the kids play on the trampoline, Bucky is happiest when he’s by your side. His leash manners are impeccable, and he’ll be your go-to partner for every adventure.

Bucky is a bit of an acrobat and would thrive with a yard with a tall secure fence or regular leashed walks. He does great in his kennel when it’s time to rest and reset.

With a bit more training and lots of love, Bucky will thrive as part of a family who’s ready to spend quality time with him. He’s loyal, smart, and so full of potential.

When I first came to ACS in late August, I was feeling a little unsure and anxious. But thanks to my foster family, I’ve grown into a happy, playful pup with so much love to give!

Here’s what you need to know about me: I’m a big fan of tennis balls, belly rubs, squeaky toys, and cozy window-watching. I also love going on walks and spending time snuggled up close to my favorite humans. I’m great with dogs, cats, and older kids, and I even know a few tricks like “sit” and “come.” Oh, and I’m crate trained too!

If you’re looking for a fun, energetic buddy who also loves cuddles, I might just be your girl. I’ll make the perfect lap dog when you’re ready to relax—and I’ll happily tag along for any adventures!

While many of us spent Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones, Animal Care Officers Prescott and Brown spent their holiday helping those in need—like Sweet Potato!

This adorable 3-month-old tabby kitten was rescued from a storm drain after officers responded to a call about faint meows echoing from below. Upon arriving, they couldn’t see the source of the cries but worked quickly to lower a humane cat trap into the manhole. After some waiting, they heard tiny meows coming from inside the trap—Sweet Potato was safe!

Thankfully, she was uninjured and in good health. Sweet Potato is now at ACS, ready to find her forever home.

A big thank you to Officers Prescott and Brown for their unwavering dedication—even on Thanksgiving. Sweet Potato is just one of the many lives they touch through their kindness and care.

The smallest hearts need the biggest help. You can embody the holiday spirit by fostering pups in need!🐾

Puppies like Theresa & Francis, Turkey and their 4 siblings, and Waltz and his 7 siblings have recently come into our care—but they can’t thrive without YOU.

We urgently need foster families to step up for these underaged pups and others not pictured. They range from just a few days old, requiring bottle feeding, to a month old and transitioning to eating on their own. Puppies must be fostered in pairs or more, as they thrive with companionship.

Our shelter provides all the supplies and guidance—you just need to provide the care and love. Even a short-term foster commitment can make all the difference for these little ones.

By fostering, you’ll not only save lives but also experience the joy of helping these puppies grow stronger every day.
