San Antonio Pets Alive! is a life-saving organization founded on the tenet: Killing is not a solution. It is our obligation to find lifesaving solutions.

is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster. (SAPA!) began its life-saving work as a reaction, a reaction to a devastating situation in our backyard where thousands (19,458 in 2011 to be exact) of dogs and cats were killed at the City’s shelter. In 2011 SAPA! la

unched its model of pulling animals at the city shelter who were kenneled, awaiting euthanasia, to save their lives. Since then, SAPA! has saved 60,000+ dogs and cats lives. We save puppies with parvo, orphaned kittens too young to survive without a mother, dogs considered undesirable because of their size or physical characteristics as well as thousands more that have been hit by cars, are heartworm positive, or abandoned. We are over the moon happy about this special boy and the collaborative efforts that came together to save his life.

Through networking with our rescue partners, we were able to rescue Bundt from euthanasia, provide emergency medical care and now he’s being transferred to one of our rescue partners! 🩷🩷

It's Wishlist Wednesday!

We have over 140 puppies and kittens in two of our buildings right now! That means we go through a lot of newspaper that lines the bottom of their kennels. Our big dogs would also love some hard bone toys to chew on.

ADOPTION STORY! ❤
Pringles was on the euthanasia list at our city shelter last Wednesday. We quickly rescued him and found an emergency foster for the night, as we had no space at our facilities.

Can you believe he was adopted the very next day by a family on vacation!?! Pringles went back to Virginia with his new forever family and we are eternally grateful for our fosters!

Mama June’s mental health is starting to decline in her kennel. But once she is out and about, she’s a happy girl. She loves to explore and is always down for an adventure or challenge. Especially a food puzzle! She loves to play and has a heart full of gold.

Alondra went to the adoption event and received lots of love and praise! But she is still looking for her forever family!

She started her day with a calming lavender chamomile bath and then she picked out the biggest bully stick at Tractor Supply. On the ride to the event, she rode in the back with her face in front of the A/C. She was passed out after our Tractor Supply activities and arrived refreshed to the event. She loved walking and then laying in the cool grass. It was like a snuggle event for her, with everyone loving on her. She was told how pretty she was and that she was a favorite due to her chill behavior and she took it all in with a smile. She especially loved the attention from the children. She patiently allowed petting from babies held by their parents as well as toddlers and older kids.

Hey everyone! We wanted to share a bit about how SAPA! operates uniquely to care for our furry friends. Did you know that we don't currently have our own shelter? Instead, we work tirelessly to find foster homes and partner with other rescues to find placement for pets in need. Right now, our Medical Care & Adoption Center is bustling, but space is limited for the dogs we're looking after. To ensure they get the playtime and socialization they need, our amazing team has put up playpens! 🌟 These pens allow our pups to interact and have fun together, even if we're tight on space. Best buds Rapid and Cash are having a great time playing! SAPA! is all about being scrappy and doing whatever it takes to give these animals the love and attention they deserve.
