Bulldogs are those dog breeds which have their origin in the British Isles. They originally worked as bull baiters, hence their name. Their physique is also broad and brawny just like bulls. They can even fight bulls when necessary, and used to be known for their fierce nature many years ago. English bulldogs are one of the most common types of bulldogs. England-bred bulldogs have large, broad heads, while in comparison, American bulldogs are larger in size with longer legs. American bulldogs are faster and more athletic.

BRINDLE FRENCH BULLDOG

The Brindle French Bulldog is a popular choice for those looking for a small, alert, and affectionate companion dog. The most distinguishing feature of this variation of the French Bulldog breed is their brindled coat, which is a mix of dark and light stripes.

Brindle French Bulldogs can come in a few different patterns. The most common is the tiger brindle, which has dark stripes on a light background. There is also the reverse brindle, which has light stripes on a dark background. Then there is the rarer clouded brindle, which has a mix of both light and dark.

Bullmastiff

The Bullmsatiff, nicknamed "The Gamekeeper’s Night Dog," originated in England during the mid-1880s. Mastiffs and Bulldogs were breeded together to develop a stealthy and fast dog that could help gamekeepers stop poachers from stealing.

These impressive and cunning canines protected the lives of gamekeepers and poachers. They are larger bulldogs, clocking in at 100 to 120 pounds and reaching 24 to 27 inches in height, but they aren't aggressive towards other dogs and can behave well around their furry friends with proper care.

But don't be deceived by the breed's history, these bulldogs are huge cuddle buddies who just want to be in the same room as their owner.

Australian Bulldog

An Australian Bulldog can be as happy in a city as in a house with a backyard as long as they receive proper food, exercise, and attention, according to Pet Guide. Like all other bulldogs, they love being part of a family and won't leave your side. They are affectionate, loyal, and intelligent dogs who weigh between 50 and 78 pounds. These bulldogs were bred to adapt to the Australian environment (as their breed name suggests), which means they may be more active than their cousins but aren't the most active dog out there.

Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldog

The Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldog was bred in the southern United States to be a "catch dog," which would chase and catch cattle or other animals, according to Vet Street. Alapaha Blue-Bloods are protective and possessive, but they are also playful and devoted dogs. With the proper training and socialization, they enjoy playing with children and love attention. Vet Street notes that they are best suited to more experienced dog owners who can train them well from a young age. These bulldogs can also be a bit indifferent towards strangers and don't necessarily get along great with other dogs so they may thrive best if they are your only household pup.

Platinum Bulldog

Platinum bulldogs are completely white. They are defined as platinums when 10% or less of their body has color on it. True platinums have none at all. These white patterns are not uniformly genetic and can be symmetrical with other markings, such as those on their belly or face. When the patterns aren’t symmetrical, they can be called parti or piebald bulldogs.

Platinum bulldogs can have multiple mutations and a bright white color that is more or less intense. True platinums often cost $6,000 or more.

Platinum is not technically the color of the bulldog. Rather, it describes a true color bulldog that simply lacks pigmentation due to its genetic lineage. In other words, your dog could genetically be a chocolate tri and still present as a completely white, true platinum. Any specks of color would be in the base color.

Black Tri

A lot of bulldogs have black genes in their lineage, but to get a black tri you need the cute tan points on their paws, cheeks, and eyebrows. Their eyes will come out dark brown. They may have a fawn undercoat and should always be shiny. Their nose and paw pads especially should be very black. Tri-colored bulldogs are valuable not only for their breed but for how unique the color patterns of each dog can turn out.

Red-Tiger Bulldog

This thickly proportioned specimen is a relatively new breed, only coming to existence in the past twenty years. They are a stocky build with ears cropped inward, making them look somewhat intimidating. Full-grown, they weigh between 70-110 pounds.

They are lovely family pets, as they are gentle and loyal. They have an aversion toward strangers and will be suspicious of new people. They also have a very high prey drive, making them potentially dangerous to smaller animals.

Their lifespan of this breed is 12-16 years. While they thrive, puppies must get adequate nutrition. They are susceptible to down pasterns, which is a deformity in the lower portion of the leg.

They’ve been around for centuries. They’ve always been considered dangerous and aggressive. But, that time has come to an end. English Bulldogs may look tough, but they’re sweethearts looking for understanding.

If English Bulldogs were served injustice, then merle English Bulldogs are completely misunderstood. Sadly, they’re a work of messy genetic plays resulting in numerous problems.

English Bulldog

The English Bulldog is where it all started. Historical evidence points to these dogs first being developed in the 13th century in England. Back then, they were primarily used for the blood-sport, that is, bull-baiting.
Once ferocious, fearless and tenacious dogs, English Bulldogs were thrown into a pit of angry bulls to battle it out. In fact, that’s where they got their name, bull dogs. With their strong jaws, a Bulldog would taunt and pin down the animals in front of spectators.

They are not without their problems, though, and like its English bulldog relative, it is another brachycephalic (flat-faced) breed that can suffer from breathing difficulties and can quickly overheat. As with the English bulldog, be meticulous with selecting a good breeder.
