We are not just another pet store, but the ultimate, fun shopping experience for people who love their DOGS and CATS as much as we do. Muttropolis was built from the ground up with an obsession to seek-out the highest quality, often hard-to-find products for people who love their pets as much as we do. Rest assured, each item has been pup-tested and hand-selected, so whether it’s raw food or a coz

y bed, the quality is best-in-show. Driven by our passion to provide the best, we opened the doors to our first store in the Cedros Design District of Solana Beach, California in 2002. Very quickly Muttropolis became an important part of the community and the go-to resource for likeminded pet owners. While we're mostly online now, our flagship store with its own dog park still serves the community — so if you're in SoCal you're invited to stop by to see where it all started. Our employees (from the store to our office, to the crew that runs our site) are made up of a stellar pack of passionate pet lovers who are also talented retail and online professionals. They come from different backgrounds (mutts so to speak) but have a common bond... their love for their own furry children and their desire to make Muttropolis the best it can be.

We have one car load FULL of donations!

We are heading directly to Animal and Bird Hospital now to drop off directly to the team of Vets who will be going up north.

We are at a loss of words at this amazing community. Holding back tears at the amount of people who came and brought donations. They just didn’t stop!

Thank you. Thank you to this community. Thank you to our vendors who are sending boxes of items from their warehouses. Thank you for the reshares, the comments, and the support!

This is just the beginning!!! We are personally not making any trips as we want to keep the roads clear for those who need it. If you want to get involved please let us know and we can connect you with teams of volunteers and organizations who are already set up in LA ♥️

Did you know Muttropolis has been in business for over 20 years??
Let me tell you a bit about this magical place…

Our pet store occupies an old WW2 airplane equipment hanger called a Quonset Hut. We still have the original windows and metal exterior.

Our team has over 25 years of experience working with animals and pets. Two of our team members have worked at Muttropolis for over 15 years between the two. The love for dogs and animals is in our blood!

All buying is done in house so when it comes to choosing what hits the shelves, we have a research process, Vendor application, and vetting process. This ensures we know everything about the products and we stand behind them.

We love our community and we are excited for all the amazing things we have planned for 2025!

Expect breed meet ups, Yappy Hours, Pop Up Markets, and of course our adoption events!

Adoption Day!

Tragic To Magic will be in the yard with some adorable pups looking for their forever homes. Thanks to our amazing community, we have helped support Tragic to Magic in getting over 25 dogs get adopted so far this year! Let’s make that number grow even more!

They are always looking for fosters and volunteers so if adoption isn’t a fit for you, there are still lots of ways to make a difference. Even coming and giving these pups some love makes a difference!

Don’t forget, we do take gently used pet items, towels, blankets, toys, etc and donate them to all the rescue groups we host. So if you’re cleaning out for the holiday season, remember you’re welcome to drop by any of those pet items at our store.

If you’re needing an extra layer of security for your horses or larger animals, please keep in mind that you were able to take a dog tag and braid it into their main. This is a great way to add extra identification and another layer of protection in the event of any emergency. We are able to do them in store and they only take a couple of seconds to get engraved for you!

Hi everyone! We are overjoyed at the amount of support we are receiving!! BOWLS FOR FOOD ARE STILL A NEEDED ITEM!! They are getting a lot of food donations but are needing ways to feed the animals! Old Tupperware, clean to-go food containers, 5gal buckets, anything that can hold food and water! Thank you for ALL your support!

Hi everyone, I just left animal and Bird Hospital. They are desperately needing bowls and containers of any kind! Biodegradable bowls are perfect. Any old containers,Tupperware, old clean food containers, etc that you have would be great. Old buckets in your garage that can be used for water. Any containers that you have are desperately needed!!! You can bring them to Animal and Bird Hospital of Del Mar by tomorrow evening 6pm. They are leaving Saturday morning at 7am!

Hi All, With the LA fires displacing families and animals, we are collecting donations to take directly to @sdhumanesociety to support. We have bins set up outside, where you can drop any nonperishable goods, dog food, cat food, bottled water, and any items that can aid in support. We are not taking financial donations and we are not making the trip ourselves as we want to keep the roads open. Our Tale

The idea of Muttropolis sprouted from the creative minds of two professional designers, a corporate marketing executive and an multi-unit restaurant owner/operator and was fueled by their love for their dog and cat family members. Muttropolis was built from the ground up to grow from a strong foundation of creative design, quality products, knowledgeable, friendly service and unique style. Not another pet store but the ultimate, fun shopping experience for people who love their dogs and cats as much as we do. Driven by our vision and passion, we opened our first store in the Cedros Design District of Solana Beach, California in 2002. Muttropolis became an important part of the community, a resource for finding everything for your dog and cat. We support many worthy causes and have been responsible for the adoption of hundreds of dogs and cats. Muttropolis is the social gathering spot for all breeds from AKC to XYZ and of course for the parents who bring them. The success and acceptance of the Solana Beach store prompted the development of a second store in the Village of La Jolla, California, followed by a store in the Fashion Island Center in Newport Beach, California. These stores provided the perfect environment for testing merchandise and receiving valuable customer feedback. This experience helped us create Muttropolis.com where we bring our products and online service to the world. With you and your pet in mind we created the world of Muttropolis and this website.
