About us

Dobermans In A Pinsch, Inc., an IRS-recognized 501(c)3 charitable organization, is the result of the collaborative efforts of Allison Bodenweiser (Treasurer), Maggie Cecil (President), and Angie Monteleon Gilbert (Vice President and Director of Fundraising). Their combined decades of active Doberman Rescue led them to the mission of Dobermans In A Pinsch, Inc., which is to provide fundin

g on a case-by-case basis to owners of Dobermans who would otherwise be forced to consider surrendering their beloved Dobermans to shelters or rescues, or having their Dobermans euthanized due to financial hardship. Utilizing an application and financial statement, both available on our website www.dobermansinapinsch.org, our Board of Directors considers every case based on individual need. We most commonly assist with veterinary expenses such as medications, surgeries, and consultations, but we also help in some instances with things like food, and even palliative care. Our mission: We help Dobermans stay in their homes with the people who love them.

Would you please consider fostering!

You'll be saving 2 lives! The baby you're fostering plus the baby who takes his space in the shelter or rescue!

Help us save and change lives!

For those with pets in areas of sweltering heat this week, a reminder:

Vets in the U.S., where paw burns are common in many areas due to high summer temperatures, have come up with a test to check when it’s safe to walk dogs on a hot pavement. Check out the five second rule.

Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, give their home and all they have to those they leave behind.
If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I'd ask...

To a poor and lovely stray I'd give my happy home; my bowl
and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I
loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet
voice that spoke my name.

I'd will to the sad, scared shelter dog the place I had in my human`s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.

So, when I die, please do not say, "I will never have a pet again, for the loss and pain is more than I can stand.

Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him.

This is the only thing I can give..
The love I left behind.

JUST A REMINDER, TO ALL DOG OWNERS.

⚠️🚙⚠️ Despite the warnings, hundreds of dogs die every year after being left in a hot car. Someone you know may need to read this very important message. ⚠️🚙⚠️

SIX MINUTES is all it takes for a dog to overheat in a hot car.

Your dog could suffer serious injury or die in a matter of minutes if left alone in a car.

• The temperature inside a closed vehicle left in the sun can double within 12 minutes.

• At least 75% of the temperature increase in a closed vehicle occurs within 5 minutes of closing the vehicle, and at least 89% of the temperature increase occurs within 15 minutes of closing the vehicle.

• Temperatures exceeding 104˚ F can lead to death or serious injury for the occupants.

• Temperatures in a closed vehicle sitting in the hot sun can reach 160˚F and above. An animal will suffer immeasurably and may die before the temperature reaches 150˚F.

• Even when parked in the shade, the vehicle temperatures can exceed 104˚C.

• Leaving windows down more than 2 inches on an unattended vehicle will not prevent a car from reaching extreme temperatures.

• Even if the animal is revived, they can die due to severe internal organ damage.

Your dog trusts you to have their best interest at heart ALWAYS.
Please don’t risk their safety.

If you are not taking your dog inside your destination with you, PLEASE leave them at home where they are comfortable and safe.

There's a heat wave hitting this week!🔥Heat can be deadly for your pet. Cats and dogs do not have the ability to sweat; they cool their bodies off by panting and through the pads of their feet, so when the weather is extremely hot it is much harder for your pet to cool off.

Keep your pets inside with plenty of water and a cool space during hot weather.

Don't have air conditioning? Use fans and close window coverings. Shades, curtains, and blinds can lower indoor temperatures by up to 20°F, so keep your windows covered to block out the sun.

NEVER leave your pet unattended in a parked vehicle.

If the pavement is too hot for your bare feet, well guess what — it’s too hot for your pet’s paws. Always check the pavement before bringing your pet outside.

If your pet has been exposed to high temperatures:

•Be alert for signs of heat stress including heavy panting, glazed eyes, a rapid pulse, unsteadiness, staggering gait, vomiting, or a deep red or purple tongue.

•Immediately move your pet to the shade to gradually lower its temperature. Apply cool (not cold) water to the pet, and provide lukewarm or cool water to drink.

•Take your pet to a veterinary hospital immediately. It could save its life.

Remember to make walking on a leash feel like a "job" to your Doberman. Make it feel very different from other activities you do. Use a different collar, strict behavior expectations, and a confident demeanor (on your part). Give plenty of breaks along the way.

Dobermans love having jobs to do and this is a great way to make leash walking more successful!

Especially during the teenage phase! Am I right?! Do you have a Doberman with selective hearing?
