Wanted to update our Virginia clients!
We are currently in GA and in search of a home in Va. we hope to have something soon so we can get Duality K9 back up and running!

We are now officially in our last month on the west coast! We have appreciated each and every client for their support of DK9 and trusting myself with their dog’s training and care.
We will be making the trek to the east coast on July 1st and hopefully up and running in Virginia Beach in August/September timeframe.
We are looking forward to being back home and seeing some familiar faces!

Trust the process! Training isn’t linear, it’s hard, it requires dedication, it requires commitment, and it requires you to view the dog in front of you.
A year ago Vulcan needed long line pressure to get over the fear of the dock. No amount of cheering, toys, me getting in the pool, etc was getting him in. So, knowing my dog and what he can handle mentally I opted to use leash pressure to help him learn he’s going to be ok. Fast forward a few months later, he started jumping around 16-17’ consistently and always quietly waiting his turn on the dock. Fast forward again to now, he’s SO pumped to be on the dock, waiting his turn is now full of barking and tugging to get to the dock, and he received 3 new PRs over one weekend. 23’3, 23’10, and 24’5.
Know that pressure isn’t bad, we all go through pressure in life, so why do we shelter our dogs from it?

Vulcan got a new PR of 23’3 and Yana is consistently jumping in high senior and low master! Hopefully soon there’s a flying beagle joining in on the fun!

Meet Enzo! He’s here for a 4 week board and train to work through some fearful and reactive behaviors. Hes extremely sensitive to sounds, movement, and any type of pressure so we’re taking things at his pace and earning that trust.

In preparation for our move in July, I will be finishing out all private lesson packages and will not be booking anymore packages from this point on. I will be moving to only booking single sessions at a time up until we leave.

This is a common problem! As a trainer, it is my job to help you find ways to communicate to your dog and create a healthy relationship! . . Tools are there to aid in that communication process and getting rid of them too soon because 1. It’s too hard to remember to carry items with you. 2. Your dog walked fine 1 out of 10 times on a flat collar 3. You keep forgetting to charge the e collar so you just stopped using it 4. Your dog listens 50% of the time so that must be good enough to remove the leash all together 5. You want the dog to stop counter surfing when you’re gone but refuse to kennel 6. It’s too time consuming to put your dog on place when guests come over then get upset when the dog body checks your grandma back out the front door. . . Being quick to stop using tools is purposefully failing your dog and the potential they have to succeed in our world. . . Leash your dog, place your dog, treat your dog, play with your dog, charge your e collar, put the prong on whether you think it’s needed or not (better to have than not, then need and not have), have a long line on your dog in an open field, etc.
No control? Leash your dog. Stop taking away a responsible owners hard work they’ve put into their dogs! Besides working your dog’s threshold manners there is another puzzle piece to add to their safety. . . Teaching your dog to respect a curb and to wait for permission to cross a street is just as important! This video shows what response you’re looking to achieve when you start to walk out into the road. Your dog should stop and oppose your leash pressure to remain on the sidewalk.
