My ame is Holly Meredith "Shelly" of Kokino Shiba Inu's and Bengal Cats, located in Southern California. My lifelong love and passion for all animals have led me to breed and show horses, dogs, and cats. Although I do miss my horses and Akitas, I am currently devoting my time to Shiba Inu's and Bengal Cats and have been since 2017. I strive to be ethically and morally correct with complete transpa

rency in my breeding program. AKC proudly supports dedicated and responsible breeders such as Kokino Shiba Inu's. It is vital for the preservation and well-being of the breed. We encourage all prospective puppy owners to do their research and be prepared with questions to ask the breeder. Make sure you are not only choosing the right breed for you, and your lifestyle, but also that you’re getting it from the right individual. We are members of AKC Bred with the H.E.A.R.T. Breeders that participate in the AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. program pledge to uphold the program values of health (all parents are tested before breeding- DNA, Hips, Elbows, Patella, Eyes), education, accountability, responsibility, and tradition. Puppies are raised in our home and are well-socialized with grandkids and Bengal cats.

Kokino Bengals is a small cattery focused on the health, preservation, and longevity of the breed. We follow the TICA Code of Ethics to ensure the health and well-being of every kitten and cat. Kittens are raised in our home with love. Parents are TICA registered and health tested (HCM, DNA, PRA, PKD). We are happy to commit to the TICA Voluntary Breeder Code of Ethics and will remain members in good standing of The International Cat Association and have TICA-registered cats. We will only place kittens and puppies in homes that we believe will provide a lifelong commitment of love, appreciation, and responsible care. We will guarantee that the kitten/puppy is in good health at the time of the sale and free from any inherited breed specific ailments that TICA/AKC recommended testing prior to breeding. We will urge the purchaser to have the kitten/puppy examined by the purchaser’s own vet within 3 days of purchase to confirm its good health. We will require that the kitten/puppy be spayed or neutered no later than 6 months of age and not be allowed to produce any offspring. This is usually done before the kittens leave our cattery. We require the cat/kitten's to be indoors only cat due to the dangers of an outdoor environment. All kittens/puppies are sold with a written sales agreement that describes all of the terms of the sale for both parties. A TICA/AKC registration application form and/or pedigree for the kitten/puppy will be provided only after we have received written evidence from a licensed vet that the kitten/puppy has been altered. All puppies/dogs and kittens/cats will be up to date on vaccinations appropriate to their age. Puppies will not leave our kennel until 8 weeks of age and kitten will not leave until 12 weeks of age.

I cant take the credit for writing this but 👌
Your purchase of a well bred cat does not sentence another cat to PTS in a shelter.
Your purchase of a well bred, purpose bred cat does not cause an increase in the number of cats in shelter.
You wanting a cat with a predictable temperament from healthy lineage does not cause another cat to not get adopted.
Your meticulous research and support of only the most responsible of breeders is not the problem.
It is not what others should be mad at.
It is not what others should be pushing the blame onto.
You are not the one who brought these unwanted cats into the world irresponsibly. Responsible breeders are not the ones who put cats into shelters either.
It is your home, your life and your choice of what kind of cat to bring into it.
No matter the reason, your choice to support a reputable breeder did not send a cat to a shelter.
A breeder who health tests, temperament tests, proves a cat worthy of being bred, and only breeds when doing so is of benefit to the breed is not contributing to the number of homeless cats.
The number of homeless cats in the world is a problem, but it is not a problem exacerbated by reputable breeders and those who purchase from them.
Your neighbour down the street who refuses to contain his unaltered cat IS contributing to the problem. Your friend who impulse bought a cat IS contributing to the problem.
The guy on gumtree pumping out crossbreeds as fast as he can IS contributing to the problem. Your friend or relative who just HAS to let their cat have one litter "so she can experience motherhood" IS contributing to the problem.
Your old high school classmate who bought a high energy breed without taking the time to research its needs and realise it was not a good fit for their household ahead of time IS contributing to the problem.
A reputable breeder offers their lifelong support to every kitten they produce. A reputable breeder would never allow their cats to end up in a shelter to begin with.
A reputable breeder makes it a contractual obligation to return cats they have produced back to them should you find yourself unable to keep it.
It is understandable to be angry about the number of homeless cats in the world, but if you take a deeper look, you will find the anger is misplaced.
If you take a deeper look, you will find reputable breeders and those who purchase from them are just as angry, we are just pointing fingers at the right causes.
Adopt OR shop.
Do your research.
Educate yourself.
Support responsible rescues and responsible preservation breeders.
Do what is best for you.
Do it responsibly.
