It is with the heaviest of heart I must tell you our dear sweet Wednesday has passed away and made her journey over the rainbow bridge.
Beautiful Wednesday what happened to you was not fair and you did not deserve your story to end like this. You were a young adventurous girl who was curious, adventurous and loved your brother so much. We will never forget you my precious girl. Binky free sweetheart.

The last two Saturdays have been BIG grooming days for us. The Saturday before we had 9 bunnies and this last Saturday we had in total 12 bunnies (and one kitty) who received nail trims, scent gland cleaning, were combed out and if needed were detangled, trimmed, given sanitary shaves and of course a home health check. As we groomed we found these strange little creatures hiding in the bunnies' coats...Can you identify?

Sweet Wednesday is being a brave girl. She still is on cage rest after the fracture to her spine. In the video she's enjoying a yummy piece of dehydrated apple after being such a good girl during her butt bath. We need to help her with grooming and keeping her clean so she doesn't end up with urine scald.
If you are new to our page or haven't been following along you can read about what happened to little Wednesday in our prior posts.

We are over the moon to announce that Goblin was officially adopted by his foster family! Goblin has been bonded to Tilly who was adopted in the Spring after we rescued her from Hitchcock Road Animal Services. He has an amazing family and is living the spoiled life just as he deserves! Goblin was rescued from the streets after being dumped in 2023 at just a few months old. We love happy endings! Congrats to everyone!

We received some very sad news from one of the families we work with. While they did not adopt from us, we've helped them by providing grooming, advice and additional support for their bunny so the news deeply saddened us.
The bunny and the bunny's human mama ate lettuce that was purchased at a farmers' market in Mountain View and both ended up contracting e.Coli from it. The human mama ended up in the hospital with bloody diarrhea, vomiting, severe abdominal cramping and issues affecting her heart. Their bunny unfortunately succumbed to the disease and passed away. The mom was able to recover after being hospitalized. They informed us this was about two months ago and they were unsure exactly which farmers' market the lettuce was from, but knew it was in Mountain View. The mom said she did rinse the lettuce well before consuming and giving some to their bunny. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
While you can never fully avoid the chance your bunny could contract e.Coli, there are things you can do to lower the risk.

We love when our adopters bring their bunnies for visits! Timothy started life pretty rough when he was dumped outdoors by a human who failed him. He luckily was found by a good samaritan who contacted us and was then adopted by a wonderful family who love him so much.

I have started this post about five times now and have not been able to finish because what happened was so devastating and I am still trying to wrap my head around it.
Thank you, everyone for being patient waiting for an update on our darling Wednesday. This week has been very difficult for those of us who have known Wednesday since we rescued her and her brother Pugsley from Hitchcock Road Animal Services as tiny little babies, around six weeks old. This is not an outcome any of us could've imagined. There have been many tears shed. The timing of this tragedy right before the holidays has made it even more difficult.
I also would like to thank, from the bottom of my heart, everyone who contributed to Wednesday's medical fund. We were able to cover her bill for an urgent visit and imaging that was done on her spine. We have a little bit left over that will go towards future appointments and medication for Wednesday.
Thank you, to Dr. Cheung of Happy Valley Pet Hospital for squeezing in Wednesday. Dr. Cheung and her staff are always so welcoming and kind to all our bunnies. Unfortunately, Dr. Cheung confirmed that Wednesday's spine is fractured and could only have been from trauma.
Wednesday has been extremely brave this whole time. Dr. Cheung confirmed that she is not in critical pain so for now, we have opted to care for her and see how that goes.
We don't want her moving too much as the first six weeks of a spinal injury is the most critical. She is currently in a dog crate inside Pugsley's pen so they can still see each other and they can touch noses. They are extremely bonded siblings and depend on one another. She has her little bed inside the crate, where she likes to lay and is the most comfortable. Thank you, to Tilly and Goblin's mama for donating it to us. She absolutely loves her little bed.
Since she's still under six months and bones are still growing, she's getting alfalfa that gives her extra calcium. We are praying hard for her.
Wednesday and I have a system where I open up the dog crate and hold up a carrier. She completely transfers herself into the carrier and I then change her p*e pads and blankets in her bed and crate. We have to give her a little help expressing her bladder fully so we take care of that next. Then I hold the carrier back up to the crate and she climbs back into her bed.
I did not have to teach Wednesday this, but rather she instinctively knew what to do from the first time I held up the carrier and told her how I would take care of her. If she is going to be a brave girl and is choosing to try to work through this, then we will be by her side every step of the way. If at any time, she decides she can no longer fight, then we will support that too. Even though the unimaginable has happened to this amazing little girl, she's still in a good mood and gets excited when she sees us and especially when she sees her greens coming.
Thank you again to everyone for supporting our beautiful Wednesday, whether through contributing to medical funds, shares and prayers, we appreciate them all.

URGENT - We are in critical need of your help to raise emergency funds to pay for Wednesday to be seen and have imaging done on her spine on an urgent basis. We have an appointment scheduled with our regular vet for tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
It has taken me a couple days to post this as I'm extremely upset, angry and completely and totally devastated by the events that occurred after dropping off our beautiful and HEALTHY Wednesday for her scheduled spay Thursday morning in Monterey. No more than 20 mins after dropping her off did we get a call saying she had suddenly stopped using her back legs. Please note that she NEVER had the surgery and that this occurred during her pre-surgery exam. The vet AGREED she did not come in like that.
Here is our Venmo information which is the quickest way for us to receive funds. If you prefer to send funds in a different way or would like to contribute directly to the vet please send us a message. We appreciate any amount you can spare. Vet bills will be available & provided for transparency.

Below is a little more detail we can share with you for now:
For those of you that follow us, you know that Lisa Redmond of Rescue Rabbits Rock and Clover Hop Bunny Friends have been working together and supporting each other this year to try to rescue as many bunnies as we can from Hitchcock Road Animal Services as they are frequently over capacity with rabbits and are a high kill shelter. The last group of bunnies we rescued this year included young babies, around 6 weeks old, which Wednesday and her brother Pugsley were part of. Three babies from this litter came to me in San Jose before going out to fosters and one of the babies went to Lisa in Monterey County.
Wednesday has grown up a healthy, happy and adventurous girl. Her and Pugsley are both friendly and easy to handle. She is completely bonded to her brother and both are lost without the other. As the vet I normally use for the rescued bunnies located around my area was booked solid past the end of the year for spays/neuters, Lisa was assisting by getting them done at the vet she uses for the rescue bunnies down by her. We even had an interested potential adopter located in Monterey County.
I woke up very early in order to make the hour and a half drive down to Monterey and be there before check in at 9:00 AM. Before leaving, Wednesday ate all of her breakfast and was hopping around and playing just like normal. She came right to me when I called her and allowed me to pick her up and place her in her carrier with no issues. I opened up and checked on her in her carrier when we stopped for gas and in the parking lot before entering the vet's office. She was fine both times. The vet tech opened the carrier during drop off and Wednesday was still fine and standing on four feet. No more than 20 minutes after drop off than I received a call from Lisa telling me that the vet had just called and told her Wednesday had stopped using her back legs. I had not even left the parking lot yet so I immediately went back inside to try to get answers. For now, the important take away from this interaction was the vet AGREED she had use of her legs when she came in. She told me she had never seen this before without a rabbit hitting the exam table or jumping out of someone's arms.
We did decide to bring Wednesday home and have her seen by our regular trusted vet and obtain imaging so that any decision made can be as educated and informed as possible.
For now, Wednesday is eating and drinking on her own and pooping/p*eing. We have her on strict cage rest and she is on pain/anti-inflammatory medication.

We are so excited that Smooshie's foster family has decided to adopt her!
She gets to live a free roam life and be spoiled and loved just like she deserves. We love foster fails! We rescued Smooshie from Hitchcock Road Animal Services where she was in danger of being euthanized for overcrowding. Without our fosters we wouldn't be able to save all the bunnies we do. We are so grateful for all our families that open their heart and home to our bunnies through fostering or adopting.

These two bonded sisters are so silly and sweet. They have been with us since they were one week old so they have grown up being used to being pet and handled. They are fine around cats, kids and other bunnies. These sweethearts are just over a year old and are an English Spot Lionhead cross. They are available for both adoption and foster.

Wednesday & Pugsley are wishing their family finds them in time for the holidays. These bonded siblings are so sweet, have wonderful potty skills and will come right up to you. We rescued these two from Hitchcock Road Animal Services as small little babies where they were at risk of being euthanized for overcrowding. These two would make a wonderful addition to your family. If you aren't ready to adopt how about foster? We will need a new foster home for them by next week as their current foster family will be traveling. Fostering is a wonderful chance to dip your toes into the world of bunnies before taking the plunge. Come fall in love with this young playful duo.

Little Bear got his Christmas wish early. His foster parents have officially adopted him!
Little Bear was one of the bunnies we rescued from Hitchcock Road Animal Services when they were past capacity and there was risk of euthanasia.
We are so happy for Little Bear and his parents! We love you forever and always Little Bear. We know you will be spoiled and loved more than imaginable.

On this Giving Tuesday, please consider contributing to our medical fund for the bunnies. It is by far our greatest need at the moment. We currently have 4 babies that need to be spayed/neutered/vaccinated and 5 other bunnies needing vaccines. It costs us a minimum of $274 for a bunny to have their initial vet exam, be spay/neutered and to pay for their medication that is sent home with them. Vaccines are $45 for each and bunnies require 2 doses their first year 21 days apart. On top of that, we also need to pay for an initial exam if they have not been seen in office yet prior to the first vaccine and a tech visit fee for the second vaccine to be given. Our adoption fee is $165 and we also include a microchip and lifetime registration. As you can see, without your help there is no way we could help the bunnies we do. Below is the link to our portal where you can donate. If you would like to contribute via a different way please message us.

We also have an Amazon wishlist for the bunnies. Of greatest need is always Oxbow Adult Rabbit Pellets. We also have some toys, treats, blankets, hay, etc. that we are always in need of too on there. We truly appreciate anything you are able to help us with so we can continue to help the bunnies. Thank you so much!
