Five years ago, we got to have the rare pleasure of having a litter of purebred long hair dachshunds born in rescue. It was so fun watching them grow!

Unfortunately we just got word that Aloysius, the only boy in the litter, has some serious kidney issues going on. His moms have spent over $20K so far and the bill is still growing. Here's his Go Fund Me,

We are desperately hoping that he turns the corner!

PUPDATE: So we thought these lovelies were just a few days old when the began their journey here. Turns out they were 2-1/2 weeks old at that time. Vet confirmed that as of last Thursday they were 4- 4 1/2 weeks old. That makes them 5 weeks old at this time. They have started eating gruel, are very playful and on the move. Hope you enjoy watching them as much as I love having them here.

Just a little cuteness to brighten you day!

Puppies are doing well and growing quickly. These pics are when they first came to be with me on New Year’s Day. We thought they were 2-3 days old when they were surrendered a few days before these photos. Aren’t they soooo cute and cuddly?❤️

Oops. We did it again. We once again have a litter of puppies. Mom, Luna, is a mostly long haired dachshund with a super sweet personality. Dad is unknown but does not appear to be a dachshund. We have two males and two females.

In addition we took in a one year old red sable mix that we think is the daughter from a previous litter.

Welcome Luna & babies and big sister Lita.

As you can imagine, we in rescue don’t celebrate when we get a pregnant mama into the fold (spaying and neutering is so important!!!). However, we love all dogs and when a pregnant mama is dropped into our laps basically about to pup these puppies out, we take them in knowing the outcome would be puppies.

This may be a distressing time for us in rescue...not only are we worried about the number of puppies but also we want to ensure mama has a safe delivery...and then we have to find safe and happy homes for all those wonderful babies!

That being said, we may as well enjoy the wonderful event that happens as it’s too late to change anything!

Please visit www.scdr.org for more information. Welcome to our page!
