🐾 Updates from 13th St Cats 🐾
We are incredibly fortunate to have amazing volunteers and generous community support. This past year, our focus shifted slightly. The number of kittens we took in has decreased compared to previous years. Instead, we’ve been focusing on the medical needs of community cats.
Through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), we’ve been able to help injured, older, and ill cats who need a break from life on the streets. Our TNR team has been working hard to help the community spay and neuter their stray cats by lending traps, training requesters to safely trap, and securing appointments. We’ve assisted with everything from individual cats (often with a litter of kittens) to large colonies of 15–30 cats.
Unfortunately, the lack of low-cost spay/neuter options has allowed community cat numbers to grow. But thanks to our volunteers and supporters, we’ve been able to make a big impact!
In addition to TNR, we’ve provided critical care for injured and ill cats. Some of the cats we’ve helped suffered from pelvic fractures, broken legs, street wounds, upper respiratory infections, urinary issues, and other ailments. One cat even required a lung lobe removal, the costliest procedure we’ve ever taken on!
This work is more expensive than our usual TNR and kitten rescue efforts, but it has been incredibly rewarding to see these cats recover and thrive.
With Giving Tuesday coming up on Dec 3, we’re asking for your support to continue this vital work. Donations of any amount help us provide medical care and TNR services for cats in need.
❤️ Thank you for being part of this mission and helping us give these cats a second chance!

🐱Rikki, the tripod, is still available for adoption!
She is extremely sweet and LOVES being brushed, as you can see. While mostly quiet and independent, Rikki enjoys interactive play with wand toys and laser pointers. Her foster parent never sees her playing with mice or balls but they are found moved throughout the room in the morning. Rikki loves a fresh catnip toy after meals.

Our garage cat Walter who no one can touch except one volunteer, Jerri.
From Jerri himself, “I took this video on July 22, 2023. Walter will usually let me pet him, but as you all know, if you go to pet him and he doesn't want to touched, then he will bat his paw at you. This was the first time he let me pet his face. The expressions on his face are pretty funny, because I think he's trying to decide if he likes it or not. If he wanted me to stop, he would have batted his paw at me. It had been 3 weeks since I had last seen him, so maybe he just missed me and our conversations. Anyways, it was a pretty wonderful experience.”

A day in the life of our lovely volunteer going through the TNR (trap, neuter, release) process!
TNR helps stabilize the cat population, provides vaccines and improve cat’s lives.
Thank you volunteers 🤲😻
Charlie, the adult cat, is a great friend and teacher to his little friend, Chipmunk!!!
Chip will be ready for adoption next week. Perhaps we should keep this duo together??!
