I have been feeding these Dairy Cow Isopods our Isopod Chow out of this clam shell bowl for about a year. This was a shell we have had in our front garden bed from when the kids were much, much younger. After years of sitting in the rain, I brought it in, boiled it (sanitized it), and tossed it in as a bowl for them. They can forage for calcium off this shell whenever they like. So much that now a year later, there are little holes in in! We also offer them our Limestone pebbles and there is calcium in our Isopod Chow, this is not their only source.

Do you find one type of Isopod requires more calcium than others?

When adding plants into your animals BioActive terrarium, it can be difficult to judge sometimes how well a plant will handle the "love" your pet may dish out! I have faith this Baby Tears will thrive, is is a fast grower and will do well under the UVB/LED light over this enclosure. Those lights will provide all of the "bright indirect light" it requires. It will also appreciate the humidity level this species requires. This cute little frog is a Amazon Milky Tree Frog.

When you notice small mushrooms popping up inside a bioactive enclosure for your reptile, amphibian, or invertebrate its a sign that your enclosure is cycling properly and things are going as they should! Starting off with substrate that is packed full of ingredients is a good place to start, not only does it jump start your cycling process, but it provides everything needed for your clean up crew to get a healthy start! Super cool!!! These little beetles never cease to impress me💚Did you now the blue hue to their coloration is actually sunblock their body excretes to protect them from the suns ray! When you are keeping their enclosures humidity too high, they loose this blue hue and a blackish color.

What do you think the number one question I get about live moss is?

"How much shade does it need?" My answer is always a little surprising- "None, place it in direct artificial (UVB or LED) light."

Placing the live moss we carry (Mood, Cushion, or Fern) in the shade will not encourage it to grow, instead place it in bright indirect artificial light. Doing this and keeping it moist will make it grow like a w**d!
