Found cat!

San Marcos, TX - right on the line of Kyle and San Marcos! Found in Blanco Vista in the back of the 900 block of Easton Dr, around the neighborhood pool.

Does anyone recognize this sweet kitty? She made her way into one of our TNR traps the night before last. Female. Calico. DSH Domestic Shorthair. NO MICROCHIP! We do not have anyone stepping up to help foster animals, despite our desperate pleas for foster parents, nor do we have the space or financial ability to take any more animals into the program as it stands. The cat will be going to SMRAS (San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter), unless someone wants to step up to foster, and others step up to sponsor the entire cost of all of her vetting and daily care, until she’s either reunited with her family, or adopted out (if no family can be found). Foster placement must be secured for her within the next 24 hours, as the recovery kennel she’s occupying needs to be used for a TNR kitty. A committed foster and a financial sponsor for her is the ONLY way we would be able to help this cat, and help our amazing shelter staff from taking on the burden of another animal, when they are already in crisis mode too. We also have plenty of other kitties needing foster placement still, as well as a plethora of wonderful cats and kittens looking for their forever homes! Fosters MUST commit to housing their foster animal until the animal is adopted! If you’re interested in fostering, please fill out the application by clicking on this link and message us directly to let us know when you’ve submitted it!

If you’d like to adopt, please message us so an adoption counselor can coordinate doing your application and helping to match you with one of our incredible kitties!

If you’d like to help us keep this cat out of the shelter by sponsoring her care and vetting costs, you can do so via our Venmo!

ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT AND APPRECIATION POST!!!

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to BVARC foster kittens, Marbles and Tang, who each found their incredible forever families during this weekends adoption events at Petco in Kyle!

Both of these amazing kittens were long stays in our program, through no fault of their own, and we could not understand why they continued to get passed up as each adoption weekend passed. As it turns out, fate had a plan for them all along and just needed us to keep pampering them for just a little longer, until their perfect families were meant to find them! We cannot wait to get adoption updates as they settle in and enjoy their happily ever afters! No doubt both kittens will be spoiled completely rotten, and we fully support it! 😊

If you’d like to help us save more kitties like Tang and Marbles, please consider fostering with us, adopting from us, volunteering with us, or helping us continue by donating towards our vet expenses or donating an item from our urgent needs wishlist!

Monetary contributions can be sent to our Venmo or through our gift fund on our Urgent Needs Wishlist, where you can also find our most desperately needed supply donation items!

**While our wishlist has our preferred brands, we will still accept cat food and litter donations of any brand/type too! Opened and expired cat food is accepted, as long as it’s not recalled, spoiled, or contaminated. Opened or partially fully containers of litter are also welcome! If you’d like to drop a donation off, please message us for the donation drop off address! 🧡**

APPRECIATION TIME!

-Adoption Event Team: thank you for grinding it out every weekend to advocate for our cause, talk up our animals, and dedicating your time to giving our adopters and foster animals a boutique experience with unmatched customer service, thorough matchmaking, and undivided attention. You uphold help us insure that our adopters know they are not just a number, and that our support does not end at adoption! Would you like to help find foster animals loving homes by volunteering at our weekend adoption events? Or are you interested in learning how to process adoptions so that you can become an adoption counselor and learn how to lead an adoption event a couple of times a month? Our current team is looking for others who would like lead our events so we can have more people hosting events, and be able to rotate leading the adoptions events with a handful of people! If you’re interested in helping with events or leading them, please send us a message!

-Petco Kyle: thank you for always supporting us by giving us a home for our adoption events on the weekends, and donating to, advocating for, and supporting our tiny group! We have an amazing relationship with their team and consider them part of our BVARC family! Fingers crossed that we continue to see successful adoption days!

-Paws On The Ground Hays: thank you for stepping up when we were desperately struggling to figure out a way to afford basic necessities, like food and litter for the kitties and had no one else to turn to! You have been instrumental to us being able to continue this opportunity for the cats!!!

-Volunteers, Sponsors, Transporters, Feeders/Caretakers, and Donors: thank you for helping with various tasks like laundry, dishes, cleaning, marketing, organizing, coordinating, small errands, donation collection, etc., all so our directors can have more time to focus on saving lives, and be able to rest themselves too! Thank you for donating desperately needed supplies and monetary contributions, so we can continue to feed, clean, house, and get crucial veterinary care for our foster animals and TNR kitties! Thank you for diligently insuring your feeding stations are maintained and the kitties who visit them are healthy and accounted for!

-Shaggy Dog Market: thank you for supporting us little guys, and allowing us to continue our mission by generously donating food/treats/supplements to our dogs and kitties whenever you’re able to! Thank you for helping us any time we have had animals that required adherence to special dietary needs/restrictions or foster furbabies with picky eating habits! Thank you for coming to our rescue with necessary supplies right before thanksgiving, when no where else was open, and a whole litter of gruel puppies was dumped on us 😬! Thank you for sharing our posts, advocating for our animals, and for allowing us to form wonderful relationships with your staff, some of which have joined our volunteer team in support of the cause! Thank you for welcoming our foster pups and their foster parents into your store for much needed doggy baths, and our foster kittens in for impromptu fun socializing visits! Thank you for treating our adopters so well, who come in needing supplies for their new furbaby!

-Adopters: thank you for seeing our devotion to our mission, and trusting BVARC to find you your new best friend and family member! Thank you for recognizing how much love, hard work, and dedication we put into our foster animals, and giving them the incredible life, home, and family that they deserve! Thank you for loving them as much as we do! Matching you with your soul doggo/kitty, seeing your smiles as you set off with your new family addition, and getting happy updates from y’all is what motivates us to keep going! If you would like to adopt, please message us directly!

-Heel to Heal: thank you Robbie and Scott for your dedication to our foster pups, especially for those doggos who come in and need a bit more help with training, as well as caring about those special doggos who are desperately trying to communicate with us, but just need a little more guidance while learning how to do that properly! Thank you for supporting our foster parents and working with our adopters, helping us organize, promoting our mission, and being a part of our team!

-Our Vets and Clinic Teams Kindred Animal Hospital, Deep Roots Animal Clinic, Clear Springs Veterinary, Pet Prevent a Litter - PALS, Pet Specialists of Austin: thank you for working so hard to help us get our rescue flock, TNR cats, and foster fur/feather/shelled/scaled-babies completely healthy, healed, managed, and fully vetted! We could prob write a whole novel about everything we’re grateful to our veterinary teams for doing for our animals. Rescues often have a terrible reputation in veterinary medicine, for racking up thousands in bills and not paying those bills in a timely manner, or sometimes not even paying them at all. Many vets won’t even work with rescues for this reason, which only makes it harder for good rescues to find vet care for our animals. We have NEVER asked our vets for the option to essentially open a tab with them, and we never will. We pay our invoices in full, immediately, because the veterinarians and staff at the clinics we use have always shown us, our foster parents, our volunteers, our adopters, and most importantly, our animals, the utmost respect and dedication. They don’t look down on us or treat us as any less of a priority, due to who we are or what we do. They don’t shame us when we sometimes have to pay part or all of our invoices in cash/coins from our donation jar, or have to split payments between three different methods. Nope, instead, they help us count those coins and they laugh WITH us about it, then encourage us to keep hustling for support however we can! They don’t get frustrated with us for having to call a bit more frequently due to the amount of animals we have going in an out, the complicated nature of some cases and the confusion that may arise from them, nor do they care when we send 15 page long messages/emails with a list of updates on the many animals of ours that they might be treating at that time, or just the ultra complicated one they may be treating. They don’t treat us poorly if we have a lot of questions regarding the course of action, because they know we are invested in seeing those animals reach the finish line, and know we need to understand each situation so we can prepare a game plan to make that happen for as many as we can. Every clinic we tagged is composed of kind, dedicated, professional, caring, patient, communicative, considerate, honest, trustworthy, wonderful people, and every single one of them devotes the same attention to our animals that they do with any other client. They go above and beyond to try everything within their means that would allow their clients and patients to receive the best care that they can feasibly offer them. They love and care about our animals too, and they are right there next to us, the whole time, cheering for each one to cross that aforementioned finish line. Even for difficult cases, they offer us hope, reassurance, and peace of mind for whatever decision is made, or step that has to be taken; yet, somehow they manage to be empathetic and professional, while remaining a pillar of strength for us, despite them often having emotional investments in that animal too. Our vet teams make this possible for us, and its incredibly disappointing that we almost never see rescues acknowledging all of the hours that their veterinary partners have also invested into each of those rescue animals too. To all of our veterinarians, techs, and clinic staff, we are grateful to you for your time, your expertise, your composure, your strength, your guidance, your honesty, and your willingness to teach. Thank you for everything you have done for BVARC. It is a privilege to continue to be able to work with you, and we are beyond blessed to have you as part of our team!

Let’s give one more big CONGRATS to Marbles aka Marbies/The Marblets/Marbleberry Pie, and Tang aka TehTang/TangTang/Tangueray! We love y’all and wish you both very long, happy lives with your forever families! Let’s keep this momentum up and get even more adoptions this weekend!

Thank you, all!

We LOVE getting updates from our adopters! Cap here was one of our most “famous” kitties for being basically perfect, jokingly being advertised as a dog because we really do think he thinks he is one sometimes, and obviously being really really ridiculously good looking. It seems we have a special affinity for turning tom cats into purring potatoes 😁! Anyways, here’s the most recent photos of Cap living his best confused kitty life, in his incredible forever home!

Would you like to help us save more kitties like Cap here? There are so many ways to help! Here’s how!

- Foster! It’s the only way we can save lives! Fill out the application here!

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfty8igBWLwBsRd0ZwmRVd5PCcg9d0DhdKvAyc7e-GDLP8URQ/viewform

- Adopt! Nothing is better than bonding with a rescue pet! Plus side, when you adopt, not only do you save the animal you’re giving a forever home to, but you also saved the next one who you just freed up a space for in our program! Message us here to apply!

- Donate items from our wishlist!

https://www.myregistry.com/giftlist/bvarcmosturgentneeds

- Donate to our Venmo to help us cover critically necessary veterinary expenses!

- Volunteer! We need volunteers to help with adoption events on the weekends and volunteers who would like to learn how to run those! Please message us here if you’re interested! Events are held every Saturday and Sunday at the PetCo in Kyle!

Your support is beyond appreciated! It takes a village 🧡!

HELP! Missing foster cat! Please help us find HORATIO!!

Missing from the corner of Easton Dr and Harwood Dr in the Blanco Vista Neighborhood in San Marcos, right on the line of Kyle and San Marcos!

I accidentally forgot that I left a window open while I was cleaning last night and he got out through a rip in the window screen 😭. He was lost some time between 7:30pm and 4:30am. Horatio is a HUGE, solid blue (some may refer to it as grey or gray) DSH (domestic short hair) kitty. He also has some scars on his ears and head from running the streets before we rescued him. Neutered male. He is microchipped and has his left ear tipped! Horatio is the sweetest baby boy, but he is probably terrified right now! I've been out looking for him since about 4:30 this morning. We have already alerted the chip company and followed all lost kitty protocol. If you see him, please do not chase after him or try to catch him, as it will likely scare him and cause him to move further away from his immediate area! Instead, please keep your eyes on him and TEXT Emily IMMEDIATELY at 281-814-8860, so we can come get him!

Please help us find our boy! 🧡

We just opened our last bag of cat food and are completely out of the litter we use for the litter robots in our kitty room. This last year has been the most difficult one for us yet and we’re struggling to stay afloat. If you can help us with supplies or monetary donations for the mounting vet expenses, the foster animals and our team would be extremely grateful!

We have a list of 15-20 animals that need to go to the vet for illness, injury, continued treatment, and diagnostics. Some are urgent and will be prioritized accordingly, but we don’t want any of them to have to wait too long and experience any discomfort in the process 😞. We also have a few who are patiently waiting for us to have enough funds to get them spayed/neutered so they can be adopted out. To help us cover the huge amount of vet costs we need to pay for, monetary donations can be sent to our Venmo (info in the photos)! Any amount helps!

Alternatively, if you would rather help by donating something from our most urgent supply needs, we would also greatly appreciate that too!! Supplies can be shipped to or dropped off on the porch of 602 Easton Dr, San Marcos, TX 78666!
♦️Any of the dry cat foods in the photos! The ones specifically pictured are all life stage appropriate, a good kibble size for kittens and adults, and chicken recipe. We go through a TON of dry kitty food so we need as much as we can get!
♦️We will accept all other dry and wet cat/kitten foods too, because we can still use them for ferals or individual cats with specific dietary needs who are either in foster homes or in our kitty room! Any flavor/formula! Opened and expired foods are also welcome! Just no spoiled, recalled, or contaminated food please 🙂!
♦️Arm & Hammer Cloud Control Litter!!! We only use this in our litter robots.
♦️Arm & Hammer Slide Litter!!! We only use this in our litter robots.
♦️We will accept donations of ANY clumping and crystal cat litter too! While we only use certain types of litter in our litter robots, we will use any clumping and crystal litter in the many regular litterboxes that we have as well! Opened litter is welcome!
♦️Lysol laundry sanitizer!
♦️XL kitty condo cage/enclosure, or catio enclosure that we can set up inside! Our kittens are outgrowing the kitty condos we currently have. We either need a big catio that we can use as a kitty condo, or we need more kitty condos to house them in smaller groups. Here are some examples! 🙂

Catios:

https://a.co/d/2Jxfvyi
https://a.co/d/9YHJTeO
**Or if anyone would be up for building one of these for us very quickly, the kitties would go absolutely bonkers for it! We can accommodate an enclosure that is up to 82”L x 60”W x 83”H, but it def doesn’t HAVE to be that large!**

🔷🔷Temp Foster Found!! 🔷🔷
We are in need of an URGENT temp foster who can watch some ADORABLE foster kittens while their foster family is on vacation. The temp foster is needed from July 18th (drop off to you anytime before 9pm) - July 27th (pick up from you any time) for sweet bobtail momma kitty, Sheba (not pictured), and her four adorable babies - Frank, Fred, Sabrina, and Selena! All are bobtails too, except for sweet Fred, who still has a shorter than average tail, so all are super cute and unique! It’s not ideal to move cats out of their foster homes like this temporarily, but due to extenuating circumstances, we don’t have a choice and must secure a temp foster for them ASAP! A bathroom or extra room to hang out in is all they need 🙂. Their supplies will come with them! They are all fully vetted already, and the kittens are ready to attend adoption events this weekend at the Kyle Petco! Temp fosters don’t have to attend the events, but if you can transport them to and from, that would be wonderful…if not, we can try to arrange transport to help! Momma Sheba is fully vetted, but not quite ready to attend events as we would like to get her in for some dental work as soon as we have the funds. They are all super sweet! **Emily cannot take on more kitties currently as she is overwhelmed with our most serious medical and behavioral cases, since no one has stepped up to foster 😞.** Please, if you can temp foster this wonderful clan of cuteness while their foster mom is out of town, it would be greatly appreciated!

Can you assist us with temp fostering?! Please message is ASAP!

Hey everyone,
I wanted to give a quick update for Pluto, and the situation we’re in. We sadly weren’t able to reach our goal, so we will have to pick him up today, and I will have to continue around the clock care for him myself. To do that, we still need $550.00 and in order for me to be able to provide the care he needs, I need foster parents to step up for other cats and kittens IMMEDIATELY 😕! This is URGENT! I have friendly adult kitties who are already fixed and have had their core vetting done, but just need to be moved to a home setting so they can give us an idea of their adoption needs, or need to finish a couple of their prophylactic deworming rounds, or are awaiting a vet appointment to get something easy resolved 🙂. I have kittens who are already fully vetted, but have come down with a bit of a cold and just need their antibiotics or supportive nutrition and eye ointment, in order to get them better so they can start attending adoption events! I can split those babies up into pairs or trios if it will make it easier since I understand fostering big litters is difficult for some. I also have two kittens who are not yet neutered that need to go to a foster home while they wait for their turn and until they’re adopted. Those two are already flea treated/on prevention, and have had their dewormer. I’m overwhelmed and can’t do the stress of having to juggle kitties with temp fosters…plus, that’s very stressful on the cat(s) as well. We need committed fosters immediately! If you can foster so I can bring little Plu home in order to save his life, please let me know and fill out our foster application ASAP! If you can donate towards Pluto’s remaining balance, please donate to our Venmo!

**UPDATE! We need donations! Pluto was transferred to Pet Specialists on Austin and we need your assistance to get him the diagnostics needed to figure out what’s plaguing him 😞. Please help our baby Plu…no amount is too big or too small!***

Help! We are currently at the emergency vet with our sweet boy, Pluto! He started having unexplained seizures out of nowhere and we are trying to do everything we can to get to the bottom of this and help him 😞. We have four other major surgeries scheduled for this week for other animals and were just told he may have to see a neurologist tomorrow, which we have no way to afford. So far, our bill is $1389.79, which Emily tried to pay mostly herself, but cannot cover completely or additional costs that may be added. He was completely fine today so we’re stumped and so are the doctors. We desperately need your help to try to save little Plu! He is the most loving and amazing kitten who deserves a chance and can’t seem to catch a break! Please share this with your friends/family/network! If you can help us help Plu, please donate to our Venmo (info in photos below)! Thank you for your support!

UPDATED!!! After multiple sightings of him in the immediate area he went missing from (this is usually the case with indoor only kitties), and him being too frightened to come to any of us (despite having known him since he was 4-5 weeks old), we immediately started placing various types of strategic traps, in an effort to desensitize him enough that he would be comfortable going into one. After a week of disappointment and exhaustion, we are thrilled to report that TangTang was successfully trapped this morning! He is back in his foster home, safe and sound, and getting lots of hugs and hydration. He has been a ball of purrs the whole time and was really happy to be back home with his foster mom and dad. Unfortunately for Tang, he is officially grounded for the next couple of weeks, while we work back through all of his routine vetting that this adventure could have compromised. Due to this, he will not be attending our adoption events this weekend at the Kyle Petco, but we will have lots of others out with us both days who can’t wait to meet everyone! We’re so glad our boy is back! Thank you again to everyone who helped!!

This beautiful girl deserves to know love in her final time on this earth, however long that may be. If we had the option to give her that, we would, but we simply do not have the means to give her what she needs 😞. Hospice is not something to be scared of…it’s a noble, selfless journey that is often filled with 10x the happiness that regular fostering and adopting gives, because these animals always surprise you in the best way. Their smiles, though they might be missing teeth, are bigger. Despite maybe having a bit of tarter, those bigger smiles are somehow even brighter than the rest too. The happiness, the security, the warmth, the love…it’s so much deeper and hits you right in the feels in the BEST way ☺️. She will not be forgotten. She will not know suffering. She will not spend her final moments alone in a kennel surrounded by other barking dogs and being overlooked. She will have comfort, love, reassurance, and peace because YOU can give her that. You will feel heartbreak…it’s unavoidable, but you will also get to carry her in your heart and have cherished memories of your time with her that you will keep forever. Best of all, she will get to pass with dignity and being cherished the way she deserves. She will give you the strength you need, I promise! I just know one of you who sees this will look past that scary word “hospice” and be her hero, so she can be yours too!

Please don’t turn away. Our animals in shelters and rescues need you more than ever right now. SHE needs you. Give her the chance to show you that YOU need her too! 🧡

Reminder: our intake is currently CLOSED until further notice. We cannot take in any dogs or cats until we have more reliable people stepping up to foster and more monetary support from our community. Donations can be sent via Venmo to EmilyF_BVARC, if you would like to help us with the financial burden we’re constantly up against!

We currently have one dog and over a dozen cats in URGENT need of foster placement. We cover all medical needs and supplement supplies as we can. We do not get enough kibble or litter donations to provide those to foster parents though, so we do ask that fosters please provide those two things for their foster kitties. All other supplies we can provide if needed, as long as we have them available 🙂! If you can commit to fostering a loving animal until they are adopted, please message us! We need your help, desperately! Pictured are some of the kitties currently in need of foster placement!

**In the last week, we have had four people “step up” to foster just to ghost us when it came down to picking a foster kitty, which essentially wasted precious time that we could have dedicated to our cause 😔. It also robbed the cats of an opportunity to get fostered by others who were serious about committing to a specific cat, because after we were given the run around then ghosted, we then followed up with those others who were interested and sadly, people had already committed to helping another animal elsewhere. It’s very important to understand how big of an impact that action has on the fate of an animal 😕. Placing animals in foster homes is necessary in order for our team to be able to maintain all of their duties, but most importantly in order for us to save lives. When someone commits to helping, we are relying on that promise, so when they disappear its extremely disheartening and frustrating. We currently cannot trap for the next TNR clinic because we have no open recovery or holding space to house the cats. We have kittens outside in danger who need our help, but we can’t help them because we have no space to intake them, as it’s all being occupied by highly adoptable kitties in need of YOU. We kindly ask that you please be considerate of our time and the level of exhaustion we’re currently struggling with, and only step up if you truly intend on following through. We are overwhelmed and running on empty and need your help. Please, only contact us if you are serious about being a committed foster! We’d be happy to answer more detailed questions regarding what all fostering entails via messenger!**

Thank you all for your continued support!
