Oct, Friday the 13th! At 8:30, video was
30:30. (Three thirties, neat!)
Nothing exciting about today's meal. She just chomped it and swallowed it and then went back into her enclosure and under her bark round.

Since Alora is being a basket case, I decided to snuggle with her, basket and all while we watched a movie. She can still feel my breathing and heartbeat, and ‘hear’ our voices and activity. I carefully removed her basket lid, hoping she might come out, but nope, she hid her head. So I put the lid mostly back on, and she was content to just peak out.

Sept 29th was dinner day. As usual, I am late posting. Video was in two parts- First video was just getting her out of her basket! 😆 The basket is now a part of all things, lol, including dinner time. I had to “dump” Alora out of her basket to go find dinner, and she crawled back into the basket as soon as she finished. She is a total basket case! 😜

Alora has officially moved into this basket. Lol 😆 This is apparently where she lives now. It is sitting on the warm side of her terrarium, on top of a couple crystals and a small wood root. I have finally, this evening, been able to verify that at least she has at one point come out of the basket -at least briefly- she pooped 💩! I am glad she is neat and did not go potty in her bedroom! When I was introducing her to the basket, I was hopeful that she would enjoy getting in and riding around. I did not expect her to move in permanently!

So now I can’t get Alora OUT of the basket. 🤦‍♀️
Well I could, but the goal is for her to feel safe inside the basket. She has been in the basket since my last post. Maybe she came out inside her house during the night, but I don’t think so. Hubby and I both look in on her when we get up during the night, and every time we have looked, still in the basket. I put her over here in the tree again today, about an hour ago, and she is still in the basket, even with her cover pretty much off. I wonder if she plans on staying in here until she gets hungry again. 🤨

So today I got Alora out and we went for a walk. Then as we were headed for her tree, her favorite place on Earth, I decided to take her basket with us to see if she would maybe take a nap in it again. She immediately crawled down my arm onto the basket! So I grabbed my camera, and as you can see, she went right in! And there she stayed. I guess her basket is now her favorite thing!

This was Alora’s second rat. She is learning how to handle front feet. She struggled a bit today. She got so frustrated she spit it out! But she tried again and figured out how to handle those feet! 😉

This was Aug 14. Alora has often hung out with me to walk around, and we have done a lot of just sitting and me swaying back and forth like a warm tree. But today was the first time we danced around a little bit. She did great, and certainly seemed to enjoy it! 😃🐍

After Alora inhaled two mice at her last meal, offered her a small rat this time. She stared at it for a little bit, but decided that it looked edible, so after navigating the front feet, down it went!

We have been traveling this past week, so Alora was feeling pretty bored, I think. As usual, when I went to get her out of her house, she protested by grabbing on to everything and pulling away. But as soon as she saw the tree today, (inside because it’s cool and raining) OMGosh she was so cute! She reached out excitedly as as soon as she could grab a branch, she shot straight to the top and periscoped for a minute, then she was all over the tree for about 30 minutes before settling down and just hanging out. It warmed my heart to see her so happy! 😊

Alora finally shed again! About 4 am yesterday, August 1. Her first shed with us was on my birthday, May 25. First shed was 35”, yesterday’s was 42” - She grew 7 inches in just 9 1/2 weeks!! Wow! That’s about 3/4” per week!

The new root went in today! I did everything while Alora was asleep in the hide to the far right. 🙃 No more fake plants. Everything is real. I need something to hide the bigger pot in the back. Or a better pot, maybe.

Lovely afternoon! Alora took a nap in the tree while I worked on the big root. I think it’s almost done! I keep thinking I’m finished, but I find more to do, the more I look. I‘ll finish it up tomorrow and then it can go in the terrarium! I’m excited! 😁

After things calmed down toward the end of the day yesterday, I decided to go ahead and feed Alora. She fully recognized her feeding bin and zoomed right in with great enthusiasm and immediately started searching for dinner! She found it in just a few seconds, took a couple seconds to set up a good strike, and boom! Almost a direct hit on the nose! So then after only a slight adjustment to line up, down it went! All done in only 12 minutes! What a great eater!

So Alaska had a big quake early this morning, and I think all the critters are feeling it, as well as me. I have a big fat headache, but the cats are being weird, and even Alora seems a bit off. When I brought Alora to her tree this morning, she went straight to the ground!!! Very strange! She’s asleep now in the tree, so I’m thinking I will feed her tomorrow instead of today.

This is a root I dug out of a spot where I am making a flower bed. It took a lot of work blasting off all the dirt with the hose, stripping all the bark with the help of a big flat tip screwdriver, letting it bleach out in the sun for a couple weeks, and then the past couple days spending a few hours each day going over it with a dremmel tool to smooth out all the rough spots, any remaining bark bits, and rounding off all the cut edges and points. I think I only have 2 or 3 hours of work left. I like how it’s turning out! I hope Alora will like it too! She is getting to big for her current stick! This root will be quite an upgrade! 🙃

Dinner Day for Alora again! Today, July 5, 10:52-11:08, 16 minutes! I decided to wait a couple extra days this week to feed Alora because she just hasn’t seemed super interested in eating the last couple of meals, though still a terrific eater. Waiting the extra few days made a huge difference- much better feeding response! Alora was immediately interested, didn’t waste any time before striking, and she gulped her meal down quickly and enthusiastically! (note-This was a frozen/thawed!) We will be sticking to the 10/11 day schedule.

Alora, July 5, 10:52-11:08, 5x speed. Decided to wait a couple extra days this week; glad I did! Much better feeding response! Alora found and struck faster, and ate quicker! Will stick to 10/11 day schedule.

Still a few fake plants, but they will all be gone when I get the new driftwood root finished! We have added a few crystals in there across the front. Alora now has 3 favorite day spots. Her bark hide on the far right, under the plant in the center back, and the far left corner right against the wall. (Cooler spot) Her favorite night spot, when she isn’t exploring, is hanging out in the fork of the big branch (toward the middle right). That’s the warm spot. 🐍

Since Alora’s first experience with a bag was not a pleasant one, a little association with fun and relaxation is in order. So yesterday afternoon during tree time, one of her riding bags hung out with her. At first she would move away from the bag, but by the end of tree time, she was hanging with the bag and even checking it out.
