We are all Chewy’s biggest fans. This big brindle, sweet tempered boy has had noone inquire about him almost the entire time we’ve had him.

Chewbacca was rescued from the Lee County Animal Shelter back in March 2024.

He did have an owner originally, but that human allowed Chewy to just roam the streets and get into mischief. He was also intact, and not had any vet care.

Thankful that we were able to take this boy in, but with his charming personality we did not think he’d still be looking for a home TEN MONTHS later 🥹

Chewy can be dog selective, he likes kids. No cats sadly. He is obsessed with getting his belly rubbed!!!

How handsome is Elvis 🖤😍 This 3yr old mixed breed sweetheart is just 48lbs - he is very underweight so we are helping him gain some lbs

Elvis likes other dogs and is just the biggest softy!!!

He is so poise and charming. 🤩

This girl was found outside yesterday with an injured foot - we think it’s broken.

She was asking to come inside, and thankfully the house where she had been crying helped her out and found us!

Now she’s warm & indoors, so we are hoping to raise some funds to get her radiographs and an exam, to ease her pain!

Please help if you can!

How gorgeous is Fonda Lupita?? She has sadly been growing up here at CARA. We’d love to find her a wonderful home!

We rescued her, and her sisters after they were born outdoors, and mom was hit by car. They were just babies back then, but now are getting older and still searching for a home.

Fonda is so sweet and can be slightly shy at first. She is chatty and snuggly when she learns to trust you.

Fonda is now 1 year old! 🙀

This little lady officially finished her heartworm treatment!! Violet is ready to find a home now!!

We couldn’t be happier for her. She is such a darling girl.

Violet does good with small dogs, kids, but prefers a home without cats.

She’s housebroken and crate trained and super duper laid back!! She’s short and just around 50lbs!

Consider meeting this little angel today!!

His sweet eyes….the perfect squishable snoot….his warm hugs!!….CMON!!!

Goblin is now around 9-12 months old. He is a mixed breed, sweetie pie who loves humans.

He is ok with dogs, and not yet cat tested. He’s so amazing and can’t wait to find a home!!

The sweetest guy resides right here in Sanford, NC 🫶🏻 and we have the pleasure of hanging out with him until a lucky human/s finds interest in him … and until he is feeling like the best version of himself 🩶🩶🩶

Carlito has been doing okay….the consensus after his last vet appointment is that the mass seen in his abdomen is not a concern…but his hips are in such poor shape that we need to consider surgery (FHO) or a total hip replacement …. 💔

The mass concern was just some thickening of stomach lining. We are glad to rule that out as an issue, given his symptoms.

We are still waiting on the final recommendation after his hip radiographs are further evaluated, but very likely that will ultimately need to happen.

Carl is still needing to raise just about $270 to cover his last visit that included most of the diagnostics he needed. Please share, please donate if you can!

Sweet Dee Dee recently got over a respiratory infection and is again searching for a home! She has been searching for so long! Help us find her a home!

“Help me out Facebook friends!! I’m Orson.

I’ve been at CARA for longer than I hoped. The rescue has a schedule in place so I get to explore the outdoors 3 times a day at the minimum. That keeps me sane….BUT I’m a big and intelligent boy… I need so much more than that!

Thankfully several kind hearted volunteers take me out occasionally throughout the week for some time away from my kennel. Lynn, Cayla, Sarah & Kiersten have all been so so very sweet with me!! They can tell I need more and I wish I could speak human to thank them all!

Cayla takes me for pup cups, plays fetch with me, walks me in the mornings, and makes videos to show my amazing personality! Lynn takes me on rides all the way to her big back yard where I can stretch my long legs!

Sarah takes pictures of me every week in hopes of catching someone’s attention. And Kiersten consistently works on training with me so I stay sharp as a whip!

I get so excited to see all of my humans that I can hardly contain myself!!

I really hope someone will consider meeting me! That’s all you have to do, because I am a natural charmer. To be happy I’d love an active human, who is okay with me being the only dog in the home. That’s all!!! Hope to meet you soon!”

Crunchwrap is all smiles because even though new experiences can be scary…they are necessary and make you a well rounded pup!!

Crunchwrap is an angel in our hearts, but realistically this guy needs some major work on his behavior.

CARA - to include his kennel, all his favorite humans and doggy friends, has become his favorite place on earth!!! Being that the goal is to get him into a permanent loving home, this can’t be the only environment he thrives in.

We’ve noticed that he is extremely fearful in new places …to include a wonderfully calm, and peaceful home that we recently tried him in. His fear resulted in less than ideal behavior, and ultimately showed us how much work is yet to be done with him.

So alas, he continues on a mission to work on himself to reach his ultimate goal of adoption!! We love this guy.

Hoping to start some more consistent training soon!

We are halfway to Carls goal! We still need $525. Carl hasn’t been feeling very well at all and after a vet appointment, we have discovered that he has a mass in his stomach. 😭

He has an upcoming ultrasound scheduled that we have not yet raised funds for. We will know more then but for now, we just really need to raise funds so we can see what we can do to help him feel better.

We love Carl so much. He is goofy, playful, sweet, lazy, cuddly, loves all humans and animals, and is just an amazing guy. He deserves all that we can give him. Can you help us help him? 💙
