Our Story
SET IN A STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL NEW MEXICO LANDSCAPE IS OUR 10-ACRE HORSE TRAINING AND BOARDING FACILITY– HEART OF THE HORSES SANCTUARY. We call it a sanctuary because it is a place where both horses and humans feel completely at home; can take a deep breath -- feel safe, at ease, and genuinely welcomed. We also have “Heart of the Horses” in our name. We are first and foremost tuned into and concerned with the heart and mind of every horse. Our job begins by appreciating each and every one of them, exactly as they are. This is the starting place for connection and training.
WE ARE PART OF THE HORSE TRAINING MOVEMENT TO TREAT HORSES WITH RESPECT AND KINDNESS. It’s how we train horses, how we coach riders, how we rehabilitate emotionally damaged horses. We endeavor to put our relationship with the horse first and foremost. We focus on creating agreement and eager participation from our horses. Instead of controlling or dominating them, we strive to inspire them, to develop willing, eager equine partners who like us, maybe even love us. (not sure about this?)
THERE ARE MANY PLACES TO CONSIDER FOR HORSE TRAINING, BUT OUR SANCTUARY IS DIFFERENT. Heart of the Horses is not only unique but will live up to its name – a safe, peaceful place where both you and your horse will be inspired to open your hearts and minds, connect, and create the relationship you’ve always wanted so you can ride with grace, ease and mutually supporting each other.
