Cindy Yee Kong, author of The Eyes of the Lion, found Grace Animal Rehabilitation Center Inc. under the pressing need of rescueing and re-homing overpopulated stray cats in her community. Her love for domesticated animals began when she was comforted by a rescue kitten in her trying time.

The holidays coming and my Christmas wish is a home of my own. I imagine myself batting at an ornament and exploring the boxes the gifts came in. Actually, I can only imagine that from what I’ve seen on TV because I’ve never had a family! But I would be a great gift if you love to snuggle because I would keep your lap warm all winter long. And, I’m happy to share the holiday cheer with other cats and dogs!

Grace Animal Rehab Center (GARC) in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, is dedicated to reducing unnecessary euthanasia by rescuing homeless cats and dogs and placing them in loving homes. Through programs like pet adoption, spay/neuter assistance, and public education, we give animals a second chance and support families in our community.

Founded in 2017 by Cindy Yee Kong, GARC relies on the dedication of volunteers and donors to fulfill our mission. Together, we’re creating a compassionate future for pets and people alike.

Our Story

Cindy Yee Kong, author of The Eyes of the Lion, grew up in an abusive, alcoholic family while struggling with a debilitating genetic disorder, she experienced first-hand what it is like to be abused and neglected. That is why she felt the strong urgency to do something about these abused, homeless cats that had been ignored and pushed aside.

She found Grace Animal Rehabilitation Center Inc. under the pressing need of rescuing and homing overpopulated stray cats in her community.
