Cornelius the Monkey - and Company

Cornelius spends most of the day and night hanging out in his hammock eating, playing and sleeping. However, for the past 7 days, he was spending all day and night on the floor of his enclosure. I didn't understand why and thought maybe he was sick even though he looked and acted normal. I then thought maybe he discovered the floor of his enclosure to be more comfortable for him or maybe this was just a stage he's going through.

But then today, I realized his favorite blankie that he had since he was a baby, was stuck under a toy on the floor of the cage. When I untangled his blankie and moved it to his hammock, he returned to his hammock. I didn’t realize how attached he is with his blankie until now.

Several of you commented on my last video or sent DMs regarding Cornelius being in a cage. Obviously, you’ve never been around monkeys. If given free roam, he will destroy an entire house. They get into everything. Climb onto ceilings and ceiling fans. They grab whatever they can and will destroy everything. Monkeys can NOT be free and out of their cage unsupervised. I have heard many stories of monkeys getting out of their cage and dying because they hang themselves on something or find a pill or something and eat it. Cornelius gets lots of time outside of his cage while supervised but he sleeps and eats in his cage. He actually loves his cage and often will scream to be put back into his cage. It’s his ”den”. If you don’t agree with how I raise him, you can simply remove yourself from my page. A monkey is not a dog or a cat. Thank you.
