Welcome to the GOLD life Wilma, whinney and Jack ❤️

Dogs have a special way of lifting spirits and bringing smiles. Their unconditional love and constant companionship can provide comfort during tough times. Simply petting a dog can lower stress and increase the production of feel-good hormones like oxytocin and serotonin.

Meet my 76-year-old client, bravely overcoming severe arthritis and past injuries from her dog's tugging after failed training classes in the past. The poor woman feared her condition might hinder training because she wouldn't be able to press the button in time. This journey goes beyond training; it's about building a bond of trust and respect, proving that with the right approach to training anything is possible regardless of age, weather, or physical limitations. Here's to defying odds no matter the situation

Why are Huskies tough to train?

Huskies can be tough to train due to several key traits that are characteristic of the breed:

1. Independent Nature: Huskies were bred to be working dogs, particularly sled dogs, and they have a natural independence and high level of intelligence. This can make them less eager to follow commands just to please their owner. They often want to make decisions for themselves, which can be challenging for traditional training methods that rely on obedience and compliance.
2. High Energy Levels: Huskies are extremely energetic and require a lot of physical activity. If they don’t get enough exercise, they can become bored, restless, and even destructive. This makes it harder to focus their attention during training, especially if they haven’t burned off enough energy beforehand.
3. Strong Prey Drive: Huskies have a strong prey drive, meaning they are easily distracted by small animals or fast-moving objects. This can make recall training particularly difficult, as they may choose to chase after something instead of returning when called.
4. Escape Artists: Huskies are known for their incredible ability to escape from seemingly secure areas. Their intelligence and persistence make them prone to testing boundaries (literally and figuratively), and they often require extra effort to ensure they stay contained and focused.
5. Stubbornness: This breed can be very stubborn, often testing their owner’s limits to see what they can get away with. Consistency is key when training a husky, as they will quickly pick up on any inconsistency in commands or rules.

While these traits can make Huskies more challenging to train, they are also incredibly rewarding dogs once they learn discipline. Their intelligence means they can excel in various activities and training, but it requires patience, consistency, and an understanding of their unique temperament.
