Good morning everyone!

I hate that I have to post this, but, our program vets are really filling up with surgeries and are making appointments out at the end of the year and beyond at this time!

PLEASE be kind to their staff - they are businesses and they are doing all they can to accommodate all of the low-cost spay/neuter programs, shelter and rescue spay/neuters, along with their normal client appointments, surgeries and emergencies. Without their continued support, our program would not be available here! They do not have to provide this service through our program and we don’t want to lose them!

Please also know that:
1. Two of the vets are not making appointments in 2025 until they get their 2025 office/staffing calendar set up.
2. One of the vets offices only takes a few vouchers (ours or the shelter’s) each month so they are harder to get into.
3. One of the vets is making appointments into MARCH 2025!!! Oh my!
4. If the vet you selected is not able to accommodate you, please set up with one of our other vets (suggest Iuka or Parsons) and EMAIL us back as a reply to your approval email and ask me (yes, please be kind to me as well!) to change your approval to that new vet.

Again, please be kind and understanding that they are doing all they can to accommodate as many surgeries as they can and yours is important to them, too. Let’s work together to keep this program running as efficiently as possible with as much kindness and understanding as possible 😁

We approved all the applications from the last week and are all caught up!

For those wondering how many applications come through here, we have received 1105 applications in 6 months!

Did you know? Spay/neuter prior to 6 months was something only shelters were doing in the 1990s. That’s right! To this day, many veterinarians may still be using outdated information to advise their clients. For those who submitted applications online through and including June 30 - check your email for approvals! Starting on the 50 already submitted to us in July later this week! The kitten fosters said “we helped” (not!).

For those in the area that this program covers…they do this once a year as they have funding so PLEASE get those animals fixed!

We ask people to get their animals fixed so this doesn’t happen. A couple found these on their doorstep. They brought them to Animal control this way. The puppies are about five weeks old. The time when mommas start to wean their babies. In a perfect world the puppies need to stay with their mother til at least eight weeks old usually helps with socializing. They received baths vaccinations milk and wet food and are being taken care of.

For those who might not know what to expect when an unexpected litter comes their way, we don’t want the video to happen to you. This is why we ask people to spay and neuter their pets. Spay so the female doesn’t have babies. Neuter so the male doesn’t impregnate multiple females.

As of 4 pm today, April 22, all 72 spay/neuter applications received in the last two weeks have been completed. Please check your emails if you were waiting for approval.

As of 10:30 am today (4/4/24) all applications we have received have been responded to via email. Please look for a response from us from email address [email protected].

A few approval emails have bounced back as “no such email address” so PLEASE be sure you spell your email address correctly in the form before submitting. We DO NOT call you for approvals or to correct your information that YOU provided to us. If you submitted an application and have not heard from us, this may be why.

In addition, if you live in Mississippi, but not in Tishomingo County, please do not waste my time or yours turning in an application as you will be declined.

As of 11 am February 28th ALL applications to our program have been responded to with either an approval or a declination email (email comes from [email protected]). PLEASE check your email for a response. If you have not received one, then we HAVE NOT gotten an application from you...please resubmit one.

We should never get asked to take puppies or kittens if you live in this county. We offer FREE spay and neuter certificates!

We have 3 vets. Tri county in Waynesboro 931-722-9240, Hohenwald Animal hospital 931-796-4178, or linden vet 931-589-5116. Call and make an appt then text Amanda at 931-212-1030. She will send them a voucher to pay for a traditional spay or neuter for your scheduled dates. You are responsible for rabies vaccine, any additional testing, vaccines, or upcharges. Rabies vaccines are a state requirement and will run around $15.

She will need date of appt and which vet. (Side note tri-county is booked several months out currently)

HARTT Rescue, though our low-cost spay/neuter program, financially assisted with 892 surgeries for owned dogs and cats in our 6-county region in 2023! That’s a HUGE number of dogs and cats who will be able to enjoy lives with their families without bringing more puppies and kittens into our region to burden shelters and rescues.

It’s a wonderful thing, y’all!

We couldn’t do this without the support of our donors, grantors, our vets offices and the financial support of all of you our supporters! We also want to give a HUGE shout out to the six amazing vets who handle scheduling and actually doing the surgeries. We are so appreciative of all they do for our community!

Think about this…seen posted all over our vet office in Paris, TN. Please get those girls fixed EARLIER than their first heat for more than not having babies but for their long term health as well.

‼️We have been experiencing issues with our spay/neuter application process - after you apply, we are not receiving the application although it tells you we have! Apparently, this has been an issue for a week or more (I thought I was getting a nice break, but, not the case!). We are working on fixing the issue, but, until then, you can send us a private message here with the same information as the form OR, send us a screenshot of the completed application you’ve received via email already (we know you are probably wondering why you haven’t received an approval!).
