Chicagoland Dog Rescue (CDR) is a 501(c)(3) shelter-less dog rescue 100% run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are in foster homes, but we do board some dogs we take in at vets when necessary.

Thanksgiving brings lots of delicious food to the table, but not all of it is safe for our pups. Before you share a holiday treat with your dog, make sure it’s something that won’t harm their health. Here are some safe choices — and some foods to keep far away from their bowl:

✔️ SAFE for dogs (plain only):
• Carrots
• Sweet potatoes
• Green beans
• Apples (no seeds or core)
• Turkey (no skin, fat, or bones)
• Rice
• Pumpkin
• Broccoli
• Cranberries

❌ NOT SAFE for dogs:
• Ham
• Chocolate
• Onions
• Garlic
• Raisins or grapes
• Raw potatoes
• Pie filling
• Stuffing
• Corn on the cob
• Nuts

Hello! My name is Coco, and I’m a sweet, loving girl with eyes that people say are absolutely beautiful—I’ll happily stare into yours forever. I love playing with my foster fur friends and can zoom around like lightning when I get going! After playtime, you’ll find me cuddled up for TV time, dreaming about my fun-filled day. I’m doing great with potty training (super smart pup here!) and, like all puppies, I’m looking for a home full of love, patience, and guidance as I keep learning my homelife skills. I have so much love to give and can’t wait to be your new best friend!

These gorgeous pups are 8 weeks old. We are uncertain of their mix - possibly lab mixes. They are incredibly sweet pups and they will make wonderful family additions.

Hello! My name is Kayda, and I’m the cutest little round pup you’ll ever meet. I can be a bit shy at first and big noises startle me, but once I warm up, I’m all in. I’m gaining confidence on my walks, love playing with my furry foster sibling and the human ones, too, and I always want to be where the people are. And cuddling? My absolute favorite. I’m working hard on all my home-life skills so I can be the best new addition to your family!

Hi there, my name is Doodlebug—adorable, I know! I’m a fluffy, soft little pup with the perfect mix of colors. My foster mom says I’m a snuggle expert and a total toy lover. I’m playful, social, and great with other dogs. I especially adore the two big pups in my foster home who are teaching me all the best things. I sleep quietly in my crate all night and let my foster mom know when I need to go out. I’m working hard on my potty training and, with a little more love and guidance, I’ll be the best girl ever.

The Hoffman Estates Park District's Holiday Craft Fair is tomorrow! Please stop by and visit Cathy's booth. Her beautifully crafted cards will be treasured by their recipients for years!

Cathy is back in action selling her beautiful greeting cards for CDR! All proceeds from her card sales will be donated to us!

I will be selling handcrafted cards at the Hoffman Estates Park District Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday , November 22 from 10 AM to 2 PM. All proceeds will be donated to Chicagoland Dog Rescue. Please come out and support the dogs.

Hello! My name is Wyatt and I am a sweet, gentle goofball who loves chasing tennis balls, showing off my zoomies, and curling up for a good nap afterwards. I walk like a pro on a leash, making me a great walking partner! I am gentle with kids, food motivated, and quick to learn new routines. My foster family says I am the total package just waiting for my furever home to find me!
