We are considering starting a monthly cat bereavement support group? The group would meet monthly to start at our Hobart location, be roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour long, and a donation of $5 per meeting.

If you are local to us and would be interested in something like this? Answer Yes or No in the comments, please.

This big handsome lug is Noble, and he's not only handsome he's a polydactyl. Noble arrived from one of our partner shelters with a very bad ear infection which led to him scratching so badly he ripped his skin open. He is all healed now! Noble appears to be good with other cats, and at first in new situations, he can be a bit shy but if you're wanting an amazing big boy call to schedule your appointment now.

Weds-Friday appointments can be scheduled between 11:30-3 pm on Saturday no appointments are necessary but there might be a wait.

Meet TT! This cutie arrived after being found injured and unaltered. He’s around a year old and is almost ready for his new home. TT is a quiet boy and is very sweet, he lived amongst other cats in the colony he showed up to so he will most likely be ok with respectful kitties.

Where is everyone? It's been weeks since we were busy, even going Saturdays with no visitors. That means no sales, no adoptions, nothing. We can't go on like this, we rely on our community to come out to shop, adopt and visit. 💔💔💔💔💔

Shelly was sitting across from me on the couch the other day filling out some online forms and she asked, “What is my occupation?” I said, “Co-Executive Director.” And she responded, “That’s my job title. I have to describe what I do.” I said something about rescue work and it made me realize just how complicated and difficult it is to describe exactly what we do.

In simplest terms, we save cats. But so do many other people. Some people do TNR and that saves cats. Some are animal control officers and that saves cats. Some foster or tube feed bottle babies or pull cats from sewers and that is all part of the rescue process. But what you don’t see, what is not obvious to a cold form asking to justify our role in rescue, is we are grief counselors. We are end-of-life care-takers. We are nurses and guardians and diagnosticians. We are over-worked and under-paid. We are the last option. And we see some of the worst of humanity. We see some of the worst abuse people have inflicted upon these cats and we have to be present and hold it together and ready with a stack of cash to do whatever is necessary to help and mend them back to health. We have to suppress our anger and do our best to look forward and not back at the human garbage who do the worst imaginable to these cats and we have to concentrate on their future and not their past or the pain will eat us from the inside.

We don’t turn off. We don’t close our email and go out to drinks with friends. The texts and emails and desperate requests from over-crowded and under-funded intake shelters never stops and one of the most difficult aspects of rescue work you will ever learn is sometimes you have to say no because there will never be enough money to save them all.

But we try. We try real hard with what we have. And we save what we can so they have a shot at a better future than the past they left behind. Five employees and an army of volunteers and fosters. And that might not be much but it’s all we got. Good intentions, a stiff upper lip, and incredible supporters. And while that might not be enough to save them all - it’s enough for some of them. c

Alright everyone, this cat is wondering in Salt Creek Commons in South Haven tonight around Rivera Ct. It obviously needs medical attention so if anyone is living around there and can be on the lookout, plus has the ability to grab it so it can get to us in West Hobart it would be appreciated.
Thank you

Meet Vida she’s a new addition to our medical ward today. Miss Vida is a senior that was found as a stray, she’s been fighting a severe upper respiratory infection and head tilt. In this photo she is receiving a breathing treatment to help her get over this. We worked with one of our partner shelters so that she could be transferred to us so she can have additional diagnostics done and start a healthy new chapter in her life.

Donations are always greatly appreciated, we never know when the next medical kitty will arrive. Thank you everyone for your continued support of our mission! 🥰

Guess what!!! Maryland senate committee just voted 10–1 in favor of the anti declawing bill! This is the first step to the bills becoming law. The bills must pass both houses and then be signed by the governor before the law goes into effect

If it fits it ships! Crow loves boxes, loves toys, and has a new found love. While he arrived as a single man he has fallen in love with an adorably shy little torti girl. The two make the cutest power couple and we want to find them the purr-fect home!

Crow was thrown from his owners car last summer when the local animal control wouldn’t take him. He arrived to FCN and worked through some emotional issues and just kept getting overlooked. Buffy arrived to FCN as a last stitch effort to transform her into an adoptable cat. After having a litter of kittens she found herself at a partner shelter angry and untouchable. It was us or 🥺 so I worked with her for months, we learned another cat was the key to her happiness.

Buffy spent many months with Hurley not once having the bond her and Crow do. The time came & Hurley was adopted. Buffy was alone and reverting back to her ways. The team and I thought long and hard who to pair with her and the rest is history. This girl relies on his strength, if he says it’s ok to be pet by someone she turns into a totally different cat. It’s amazing to see how much they love each other!!

So the pair will either find the purr-fect person that will adopt them both or they will be well spoiled with us. Check out the video in the comments! Help us find this duo a home!
