Renata’s puppies getting loud music for the first time. Part of “socializing” is to desensitize puppies to all sorts of stimuli. Doing it in an environment where they are comfortable and feel safe, even if a little worried at first, is a good thing. All the senses should be stimulated during a breeder’s rearing process in order to produce well rounded puppies. Small amounts of stress periodically throughout puppyhood builds resilience if done properly. These guys will get smells, sounds, weird sights, and lots of varying things to touch and climb on/under. This is part of the Moro process for raising babydogs.

Dam/ The Raven of Moro aka “Poe”, and Sire/ Tordensson des Loups de Normandie “Magni” pups whelped 6 pups June 25, 5 males and 1 female. Poe and Magni are thoroughly health tested, free of hip and elbow dysplasia, DNA tested clear of all known anomalies that affect our breed, as well as conformation titled. For some reason this little bird just stayed on the dog yard fence. I suspect it fell out of a nest and was a bit out of sorts. Aeon was very gentle, but ultimately would have eaten her new friend so he was moved to a safe location. Aeon is a Kimber x Magni pup, nearly 1 year old. Magni is from Wildwood White Shepherds and mama Kimber is bred by us, here at Moro.

Shining Brightly of Fireside Fernweh, aka Lux, at his first weekend of UKC shows. He had a blast, doing conformation and also trying out DASH. At 14 months, Lux ended the weekend earning all of his competition wins needed for his champion title, taking 3 x BOB, and 3 x Herding Group 2, and 2 x Total Dog! Lux was bred by Skylar Copeland of Fireside Fernweh (Enzo x Gemma).

Lorraine (Kimber x Magni) last weekend. This time working on a Sit, making sure her front paws stay in place and her rear folds up into the Sit. Slight leash pressure to guide maintaining the Sit, with each marker of “good” accompanying release of leash tension and getting a food reward. A final “Yes” is her release word, and I toss food away, releasing her out of the position. My using leash pressure in obedience is a new thing for me and I still feel quite clumsy at it but I am learning along with all of my dogs in this experience. The dogs don’t feel any pain or like this is a correction btw. Dogs are just physical beings and communication can be helped between handler and dog using multiple methods. It does seem to work as long as I am consistent. Training btw is for myself as much as for my dogs.
