Renata at dock diving this weekend. Friday she earned her first NADD Air Retrieve title- so proud of her for increasing her personal record to 19 feet in this discipline. She is now an Air Retrieve Master!

Got this for $99, which is a sweet deal considering it is in new condition. I have a first edition from 1984 which is literally only 20% of the content of this much newer 5th edition. Look forward to researching and answering all sorts of questions that pop into my head from time to time. It’s 1300 pages!! A little about my family history as dog fanciers. My great uncle raised terriers, I believe most notably Welsh Terriers, and was also an AKC judge as long ago as the 1920’s. However, my family goes back even farther than that, predating our my family’s arrival to United States. My family were kennel masters in England in the 1800’s before coming to America. The Marsdon kennel name even continues today through my Aunt Beverly, who raises/exhibits amazing Brussels Griffon. My Dad had Afghan hounds, and having married my mother who came from owning/showing horses, my mother then continued as a dog fancier. My mom also raised Afghans for many years, then Irish Setters for a minute, then came upon Finnish Spitz, whom she helped get recognized as a breed with the AKC in the 1980’s. She produced many generations of “finkies”, and along the way successfully handling as breeder/owner, as well as promoting with the services of Bob Hastings. I was a junior handler with the Finnish Spitz and helped care for her dogs. My parents no longer have dog breeding programs, but I continue as a dog fancier with the Moro White Swiss Shepherd program. My son, Patrick, is my right hand little man, and loves helping out. I wonder what breed will call to him as an adult? I am a 5th generation dog fancier and if Patrick picks it up, he will be the 6th generation. Already my family spans about 120+ years as custodians for our chosen breeds collectively. This post comes from a sharing of this photo from my Aunt Bev, with Marsdon Brussels Griffon.

Poe whelped her first litter yesterday, February 23, 5 boys and 3 girls. A very easy whelp and all pups strong and healthy. For a maiden dam, Poe is super calm yet properly attentive. I am so proud of her! Poe was bred to “Cloud”, aka A Storm Approaches of Itrek owned by my friend Lea Hurst. So excited to see how nice these pups turn out! Most pups are reserved- possibly 1-2 boys available.

Renata’s first Air Retrieve event. She was able to get a grab at 16 feet, which is a leg toward a Senior Air Retrieve title. She tried 17 feet, but was just too tired. She slept the whole 90 minute drive home and has eaten twice her normal calories for the last two days. I love this little lady. 🥰

New IABCA International and National puppy champion, Kalina Ice Lilien. Her first show, out of coat, and seemingly ready to start her first heat cycle, the judges really liked her anyway. Her written critiques filled with positive complements about her smooth gait, lovely angles, and general high quality of everything they saw. I like IABCA shows as they are good training for other, more prominent shows, and is a good venue for a puppy to learn and handlers/owners to get written critiques. Puppy jail at Moro 🤣. This puppy thinks it is jail anyway, rather than safe and adorable containment that is easy to sanitize and keep clean. These are Cosco toddler play yards. I highly recommend them.

Our first NADD event 🥰🩷. Kimber and Renata will come back tomorrow for some splashes, but I am so proud of them! Kimber’s jumps ranged from 13’2” to 15’5”!! Pretty awesome for my lazy girl 🤣🤣
And then Renata- ranging 18’9” to 22’3” 🤩🙌🤯! Kudos to my son Patrick (11 yo) who is our handler and throws great 🥰. Wish us luck for tomorrow 🍀🐟🐶

I wanted to share that I just got my new order of The Original VetFleece from the UK. These are the best whelp pads I have ever used, and my old ones (pictured folded on the hearth) are 5 years old and have held up amazingly. These have a rubber backing that keeps them from sliding around inside the whelp box. Thick pile vetfleece keeps puppies dry as any moisture sinks to deep inside the fleece, so puppies stay warm, dry, and clean. My old ones will turn into crate blankets. For my dog peeps in the USA, you have to get these via Ebay to be able to ship to you. Expensive, but very worth every penny. Make sure to dry on low heat, otherwise rubber backing will get cooked off 👍

We have an available short coat male pup, ready to go now. Superb confidence with an open and friendly character. Lovely angles, correct movement, very white coat and excellent pigmentation to include black nails, with both testicles descended. Yesterday we took him on his first hike, to the Pacific Crest Trail! He naturally heels and loves meeting new people and going to new places. Travels great (no carsickness) and is currently crate and house training. We are shaping basic commands by luring with food, which he is taking to readily. Info on our website www.moroshepherds.com. Kimber started having contractions to get her pups moved into position for whelp. I expect them to be born in the next 24-36 hours. Even though she is gonna have her own pups very soon, she is very tolerant of my need to multi-task and manage Una as well as Kimber’s approach to labor. Most mamas would not be patient with a puppy from another mother. Kimber is nurturing and gentle with shark baby Una. One more reason why Kimber is one of my favorite dogs of all time. I love these girls. 😍💘

Una is a super sweet and highly intelligent puppy. However, she is also, by far, the bitiest puppy I have ever had. So thankful for this moment, right now, where her shark attacks are only in her puppy dreams.

This is Missy’s last spa day with us. Later today we take her to her new home. She will go live with Summer Kar, a lovely, smart, and confident male WSS who has a lovely hooman Mom, Dad, and two year old child. We originally imported Missy from South America as a baby. However, she did not grow into a confident adult dog and lacked the character stability that should be present in any breeding dog. So although Missy was the best puppy-sitter I could have asked for, she will be much happier having a whole family to herself and a child to dote on with her very strong maternal instincts. Her placement with a strong male will help her navigate the world feeling safer than if she was an only dog. We would have kept her forever here at Moro if the perfect home did not come along, but here she must share me with all of the other dogs and she prefers not to have to share. She will be living pretty close to us, so I am sure I will get to see her from time to time. Oh, the photo of grooming products for Moro peeps: the Nature’s Specialty Frothy Tails (dilute 50:1) smells like strawberries and champagne, and the medicated shampoo for stinky dorito feet. Soak 15-20 minutes in both shampoos at the same time, then rinse.
