Hi pup parents,

As you’ve noticed we’ve been a bit absent on our social media pages for the last couple of weeks and slightly delayed at answering boarding inquiries- as as some of you are aware, it has not been intentional by any means. For those that aren’t aware, I lost my father very unexpectedly 2 weekends ago.

With that being said, Dusty Tail Kennels will be on an “extended pause” until early spring of next year, 2024. While unplanned, and again unexpected, this will give our family some time to take care of personal matters before we decide the future plans for the kennel. Please know that this decision did not come lightly- as we truly enjoy what we do and providing care for our kennel pups & families.

We want to thank everyone for their understanding and support during this time and we will be in touch with our future plans when that time comes.

We just wanted to take a moment to say hi 👋 and put “a face (or faces in our case) behind a name” for those that may not already know us. We’re Rebecca and Charlene- your pups caregivers, play pals and extended family while they are at Dusty Tail Kennels! 🐕

Some quick facts about each of us…

Rebecca
- Grew up on the family farm where the kennel is located
- Has been a licensed Registered Nurse for 13+ years
- Opened the kennel in 2021
- Is certified in CPR and First Aid for Cats & Dogs
- Has a small sidekick (her son) that joins her at the kennel and can usually be found playing in “his kennel”, or spraying the yards down with the water hose 😅

Charlene
- Moved to Scotland Neck at age 6
- Served 4 years in the United States Air Force
- Retired as a Police Records Technician after 30 years
- Has been providing dog sitting services for families for 15+ years
- Joined the kennel in April, 2023 (we are very fortunate & blessed to have her and she has been spoiling the pups since day one!)

…and while we share some of the same interests, the most important is that we are both animal lovers! 💕
