✨ This week’s Pawsitive Furspective is brought to you by BAILEY! ✨
When Bailey was found as a stray, her finder shared that she was wonderful with kids, their elderly family member, and even their dogs. So how could a dog like this end up with a shelter deadline?
The short answer: fear.
Like so many dogs we save, the shelter environment can be overwhelming. Constant barking. New faces passing by. Waiting… hoping… wondering if your person will come back for you. And eventually, fearing what might happen if they don’t. 💔
Thankfully, one of our ⭐️ all-star fosters stepped up and opened her home and her heart to Bailey, saving her life.
At first, Bailey was an absolute gem. Sweet as can be and instantly bonded with her foster’s young daughter - who we refer to as Bailey’s true foster and our rescue’s youngest foster ever. Major S/O to D! ❤️🐶
Along the way, we noticed Bailey showing some reactivity toward other dogs in the home. After an evaluation, we learned what we suspected all along: Bailey’s reactions are rooted in fear, not aggression. And her foster remained committed to helping her work through it with patience, consistency, and love.
Bailey is proof that progress doesn’t happen overnight - but it does happen. When you stay consistent… when you stay patient… the results slowly unfold right in front of you, often when you least expect it. ✨
We’ve also learned that Bailey prefers the company of smaller dogs, or in this case, one of our rescue’s youngest pups, Pan (who has already found his forever home). 🐾
Now we’re searching for Bailey’s future forever family - someone willing to continue showing her that dogs can be friends and that the world doesn’t have to be so scary so she can keep shining like the gem she was meant to be all along! 💛
Could that be you?
