*** Litter Announcement ***
We are very proud to announce the arrival of a litter of 10 pups from Aux Lake JJ of Kamiah (JJ) X Kamiah's Deuce (Rock). For us, this litter is an exciting blend of some of the best dogs Aux Lake has produced over generations with a pinch of Kamiah Kennels' vision for its future in our very promising Rock.
I could go on for pages about each of the fantastic dogs I've come to know and love over the years that are represented in this breeding. Suffice it to say, "These dogs will hunt!"
At Kamiah Kennels, every breeding starts with temperament. JJ is sweet, playful, unassuming, and hunts with joy. Highly biddable with amazing eye contact, we knew JJ was special from the moment we met her. We could build our entire breeding program around this girl and produce what we believe would be some of the best of the breed. As Aux Lake winds down its prolific, enviable breeding program, Aux Lake pups have been harder and harder to come by. We were honored to get pick of the litter nearly 3 years ago when JJ was born. As lovers of Griffons in general, and Aux Lake Griffons in particular, we couldn't be happier with JJ.
When we got started, Larry Woodward was kind enough to point us in the direction of some very fine prospective studs we wouldn't have known how to find on our own. We became very excited about a young boy in Wisconsin, Firebird's General Hutchington. High drive, a harsh coat, and a stunningly cooperative nature define this fine dog. He had already earned his Utility Test Prize 1 at under 3 years old. He would later go on to earn his VC (Versatile Champion) title. We paired him with our Lily (Aux Lake FF Lily) to produce Rock. (I'm skipping some important stuff here, but this post is already way too long.) Rock has his mother's happy nature and his father's drive and work ethic. From both parents Rock received a very biddable, handler-pleasing nature. Today Rock regularly works with a professional guide at a wing-shoot preserve here in Georgia.
I get wordy and a bit nostalgic every time I sit down to write a litter announcement. It's tough to convey that we don't just throw two dogs together. We plan, we scheme, we dream. We hunt, hunt, hunt for the very best pairings to produce our vision of the dream adventure companion. We want a dog that will hunt with the best of them while maintaining a nature as a loving, friendly, family dog. Athletic, persistent, loving, low maintenance, healthy, highly biddable, friendly, and happy (if not a bit goofy), are all traits we hope to pull out of the array of genes that are a griff. And that's just what we see when we look at mamma JJ with this very fine litter of 10.
