Adaptable - goats should be adaptable. It's why they are the most prevalent meat and dairy animal in the world. As breeders we should not breed that out if them in pursuit of a ribbon or "top 10". Our sales this year sales have suffered like most other breeders. We have made choices to cut costs - fewer shows, etc. But to really cut our costs we needed to cut feed, labor, and bedding. Which means Ladies, get your butts out if the barn and in the feild! Between morning and evening milking the body of the milkers are kicked out. No hay, no cushy straw stalls. GO BE GOATS! The grass is getting dry, but they just go find some other weeds.

I'm so proud of them. They haven't hardly skipped a beat. Our high nubian milkers are still milking almost 13 # with increased butterfat to 6%. Our top nigerian milkers has hit her 4th test over 4 # with 7.24% butterfat. At the same time we are saving 1/3 or more of our costs vs winter. I am grateful for my adaptable herd, that can be successful at whatever we have chosen to do with them ❤️

I swear I dont raise saanens... or even mini saanens. These are all Nigerians sire by UrbanAcres WC Thunderbird. His sire Promisedland HS White Cloud was the 2013 premiere sire, with multiple breed leaders, national placing and performance winning daughters. Thunder's dam was Urban Acres ASD Phoenix, littermate to Aurora (3x top 5 national placings) and full sister to Goldilocks (dam of 2023 Reserve national Champion)
