To our family, friends and customers,

We wanted to share with you if you haven’t already seen that we did not win the bid for the new contract at Wildwood. We’re sorry for the delay in getting this news out there, but we’ve been struggling through a wide range of emotions. We don’t have many answers at this point and we ourselves have a lot of questions. At this point we don’t have any contact information for people to make any type of reservation for the coming year and we of all people understand the urgency for people to have that info in order to make their coveted reservations. We would direct you to contact Acadia National Park directly with your questions and/or concerns as we don’t have anything to share.

We want to and will be making a better more heartfelt statement soon but emotions are still making that a little difficult. We hope that all of you stick with following us so you can see when that comes and we hope you stick with us just to stay somewhat in touch going forward. Hopefully this statement will help for the time being. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate through this process.

❤️ Mike & Emily

This is a longshot but I'm hoping to find a family that stopped into Wildwood Stables today (Mon. Oct 9) - I don't have many details but they had a daughter named Gwen who had visited the stables a few years ago. She remembered my one-eyed horse Pete and I met her briefly today but was busy in a meeting and was hoping to catch them before they left. As they were leaving they mentioned to a coworker that she was so touched by him the last time they were here that she had written a story about him. I feel AWFUL for not having the time and connecting with them and would LOVE to find them somehow! Maybe they're a part of this group?

ONLY LIVE UNTIL NOON EST TODAY!

This rescue is live streaming on TikTok to save as many horses as they can that are scheduled to ship to Canada or Mexico this week! They saved 17 draft horses last night. They’re saving even if it’s just to evaluate and euthanize so they get a peaceful ending. They seem to be doing things the right way.

If you have any interest or ability to donate any even just $5 it makes a difference!

Thank you 💜🙏🏻

Oh Homeslice - where to begin. You were kind of the beginning of all of this - even though you had the least ambition to ever work. You came to Dad a malnourished and barely standing yearling - the man he bought you from stopped feeding you when he had his money. I’ll never forget the day we hooked you and your sister Bea for the first time in the indoor and she freaked, broke the butt strap and you stood like an anchor while she ran around you. Or when our farrier at the time tied you to the huge arena door and you pulled back and broke it - hence our saying of “never tie a horse to something you don’t want dangling from its head”. When Dad bid on the Acadia contract you and Bea were the only team he had and had MAYBE worked 6 hours. You guys shortly became the most dependable/steady team once we got past your stomping on “The Hill”. Nothing phased you…well except for mules…You helped teach so many people how to drive a team. We retired you shortly after your sister passed because you really never had any interest in going up the hill 🤣 and we didn’t want you to hurt yourself. We’re so happy you ended up with such a caring a loving second home with Marissa who taught you many things under saddle, clipped/washed and blow dried your feathers and loved you endlessly. Marissa I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️💔

Oh I almost forgot - you also colicked (maybe the only time - probably afraid of work) the VERY first night in Acadia. Dad had to drive back to the island 2 hours and pick me up on the way (I was still in college in Bangor).

Love you Homer. As frustrating as you were as far as breaking things sometimes I appreciate you teaching me a lot about driving. I really hope your Heaven is segregated from all mules and donkeys for your sake! And I’m really happy you’re back with your sister where you were the happiest 🥹😭💔

We hope that all of our friends had a great holiday! We got a little busy and forgot to post before Christmas 😆

We will start taking stall reservations on MONDAY January 3rd at 9:00am. I am a one woman show in the office and have to plan everything around when I need to leave to do chores. I do not know what the closing time will be yet but I’m guessing it will be around 2.

PLEASE please please do not leave a message on the answering machine for a stall reservation before Jan 3rd at 9:00 as I will not have enough time to return calls while taking the incoming calls. As always we do stall reservations on a first come first served basis. We also do not take email or Facebook reservations.

Please call 1-877-276-3622 to make your reservations starting Monday. Have a safe and happy New Year!
