Look at that happy goat face!
✨Bernie✨
Just a little Bernadette update from Onalaska Farm Sanctuary!
The goats weren’t really in a photographic mood after a 7 hour trip, but look at this beautiful area they get to call home!
On the road to Ashland with these guys where they will be joining ! We are super thankful to them for taking these last of our goats. We’ve been downsizing recently due to some other life responsibilities and priorities and it’s really nice to know all these guys have a safe and happy place to land ❤️
Thank you Cara and everyone at Rags to Rescues Sanctuary for giving Bernie a safe and happy home! I just know he’s going to fit in great there. He’s our OG and By the Sea Sanctuary will miss him but we are so happy he is in a place he can find peace.
The world sure works in mysterious ways! I met Cara at The Bridge Tender years ago, and she owns Your Store Clothing Co. downtown Seaside (and beyond). Fast forward to now and we both have sanctuaries, and our favorite little guy is now with her in Sisters! Coincidence or fate? Either way, my heart is full.
It’s been a rough couple weeks at the sanctuary.
Sarah passed away suddenly. We believe she was having seizures based on one event the week before. But whatever it was it progressed quickly. We are still looking into it but her sister Ashley had a neuro issue and also had seizures and passed a couple years ago. Poor Bernie is so sad without his family but he is going to a new sanctuary next week with lots of friends! We got to love them for 4.5 years! They were our first permanent residents. We miss Sarah and we will miss Bernie but his future looks bright.
And everyone probably remembers Tua, the big white goat that was rescued from a horrible situation in the middle of the night and brought to us. She was found tied up and eating trash in downtown Portland. Not long ago we noticed her limping a bit. And then she began to lose weight even though she was eating. Without doing too much diagnostic testing (she was old, and rapidly declining), we concluded that she had cancer and the best choice was to let her go in peace. But we gave her 2.5 years in a happy and safe home and I will never be sad about that.
This life can be sad and make you feel defeated at times. I never feel like I’m doing enough. I rarely feel like I know what I’m doing. But the truth is in these faces, and they got to live many years beyond what they would have because they came to us. I am grateful for the life and love we were able to give to these friends. Thank you Rags to Rescues Sanctuary for giving Bernie a safe plans happy home!
🎉I think we found him a home! Will delete this as soon as things are secured🎉
Looking for a gentle home for Bernie the brown goat! Where he will be a friend, not food or exploited. His mom (the black one) passed last week, and he is super depressed. The 4 other goats we have are a family, and large. They bully him a lot. I’ve had him in a stall for the most part because they are really mean to him. He’s super sweet. Just wants treats. Vaccinated. Hooves trimmed. Whether. No known medical issues. He came to us from the fires in 2019. I believe he’s about 6 years old.
Don’t forget, we will happily take your Christmas trees (unflocked) and pumpkins if you’ve still got them!
Thank you a TON (literally) to the SDDA for the 2000 lbs of pumpkin they delivered to our residents this week from the pumpkin drop!

Hey y’all! It’s that time! If you have Christmas trees that are untreated (no fake snow/glitter/whatever) our goats would love to munch on them! Bring ‘em on over!
Just a reminder! If you shop on Amazon, you can select By the Sea Sanctuary as your Amazon Smile charity, and every purchase you make, Amazon donates to the sanctuary! It costs you nothing! But helps us a ton!

We need volunteers! Recently our primary volunteer moved away, and I’ve been sick for about 4 weeks! We could really use some help doing some deep cleaning in the barn and fields. I was hoping to get it done Saturday or Sunday, but I’ve been informed football is the theme this weekend. So I’m reaching out to see if anyone would be available next week and what day would be best. I’ll provide food and drinks! And piggie cuddles!
Any friends in central Oregon able to help?
🚨🆘🚨 Is there anyone in Central Oregan that can give IV fluids to a pig or even just find their vein for me? I have some fluids but I only know how to do it Sub Q but pig skin is too thick. I’ve called around everywhere but can’t find a vet that can help Maple and he’s really not doing well no matter what I do 😭😭
Picture of Peaches for attention, her and Maple might bicker but she doesn’t want to loose her cuddle buddy 💔
Just a couple of friends having lunch 😂 meanwhile the goat feeders are FULL of hay 🙄😂😂
Portland friends!
🚨Bake sale TOMORROW for Veganville🚨 from 11am-2pm! Donations from and MORE! Come see us and support Veganville!
Hey friends. Wanted to share our Amazon wish list. We could really use some more goat feeders. And the goats are always in need of snacks! They’ve also got Tractor supply gift cards on there, where we get all our straw and pig food!

Help us save our fences! Click the link in our bio and donate to our gofund me, or one of our other options. When we opened we had $7,000 worth of fencing installed. 3 years later it’s needing some love. Between animals damaging it, and the surrounding trees encroaching on it, we are in need of repairs and more importantly tree maintenance. We were quoted $6,480 by a local tree company, and unfortunately they haven’t responded to our requests for in-kind donations. This is a big job, with big trees so it’s not really feasible to do on our own. But as you can imagine, taking care of these things before they destroy our fencing is high on our priority list! We’ve set our goal for $7000 to also help with the expenses of repairing some holes and damage to the fence.
Anything you can donate to help keep our animals safely fenced in would be greatly appreciated!

It’s seriously so cool to watch these guys hang out, and grow up together. They really love each other.
Bernadette was out playing with the dogs today! This is the fastest I’ve seen her move and her knees are looking so much better!
Meet our newest friend at the farm. He was rescued from the fires down near Medford, after his owners left him. He’s SO sweet. He’s hanging out with the goats tonight until we can introduce him to the other pigs. They were a little feisty tonight and we want them to have space to acclimate.
