ATTENTION CLIENTS:
In the wake of the H3N2 CIV canine respiratory virus circulating amongst dogs across the PNW and other parts of the US, the safety of every dog in our pack and the surrounding community is of the utmost importance to Coral's Sea Dawgs.
Like any respiratory illness, H3N2 CIV spreads virally through contact with other (exposed) canines and, in certain cases, has lead to pneumonia and can potentially be fatal for some of the dogs who contract it. Most of the dogs who have contracted this illness so far seem to have caught it while at a boarding or grooming facility or at a dog park.
At this time, there is no vaccine to protect dogs against H3N2 CIV. However, veterinarians are now offering optional influenza vaccines for dogs that will help build their immunity against the flu and other respiratory diseases during flu season. Supplies are already running low, so get yours as soon as possible!
It is imperative that every one of our clients takes this threat as seriously as we do and follows certain precautions to ensure everyone stays healthy and safe during this uncertain and scary time. All clients with dogs who will be utilizing any services (including boarding, doggy daycare, and group walks) with us for the foreseeable future must agree to abide by the following policies:
+ Ensure your dogs' Bordetella vaccines and boosters are up to date with your vet
+ Make an appointment for your dogs to receive the new influenza vaccine from their vet to boost their immunity in case of exposure
+ Avoid dog parks, groomers & boarding facilities until further notice to avoid potential exposure
+ Watch your dogs for symptoms (similar to kennel cough: coughing, sneezing, and/or lethargy)
If your dogs show any of the aforementioned symptoms, you must contact Coral immediately so we can detect and track potential exposures as early as possible. Dogs exhibiting symptoms will be unable to join pack activities until they are no longer ill.
