Shaving the coat away removes the protective layer, resulting in insufficient protection from temperature, parasites, sun damage, and wind. Removing the top coat does not help your dog cool down, shaving these breeds does the opposite.

The best thing you can do for your double coated pup is activate a regular brush out routine at home and educate yourself on any other breed specific relating to bathing frequency & maintenance. Check out the AKC's website ( https://loom.ly/ao6CwWg ) for more info about your specific breed needs.
