What I did on my therapy dog visit today! (8-28-2024): This morning Mama and I visited The Palms at Sebring... it’s a place we've gone to a lot since I earned my therapy dog "wings". I wore my new red plaid dress today and looked spiffy! A special lady (Miss Susie) is always is ready and waiting in the lobby to get the first chance to pet me, then we go to the Memory Care Unit to visit more friends. (There are big calendars posted all around and my visits are listed on them.) The lady "in charge" (Mama says her big title is "Activities Director") has her patients sitting in a circle, and excited to see us. When we come into the room they always sing us our special song, "How much is that doggie in the window?" - a great way to start! (Mama has told me not to worry, though, as I am NOT for sale LOL). We made our way around the room so each lady and gentleman could talk to me and pet me. Some wanted me to sit on their lap, too. Then Mama put me on the floor and pulled out the toys! We ALL love that! I put on a good demonstration of chase, catch, pounce and shake my squeely mice and the fuzzy lobster with the flopping tail. Everyone laughed when I barked at my giggle treat ball when it didn't give out treats fast enough. (Mama said in her next post she'll share what we bring with us in our visiting bag.) We all had fun today and I scored many treats too! Mama said, what could be a better way to start the day... and I agree. (If you would like your Scottie to become a therapy dog get in touch with Mama for information. It's lots of fun, and appreciated so much.)
