Sandy's Way CSA and Microfarm is a 1/3 acre Certified Naturally Grown market farm. What is a CSA? The most often question we are asked.

The name of this farm Sandy's Way is dedicated to Ebrain "Sandy" Santiago; father, grandfather and friend. This farm, or at least the idea of this farm, started 7 years ago, in a suburban backyard, with seven 4 foot by 4 foot boxes in which we grew our own food. Growing that food became a passion and in 2013 we gave up the suburban backyard and bought a 5 acre ranch just outside Castle Rock, Col

orado. We have been selling pastured chicken eggs to select customers since late 2014.

2015 was the year to put in place our micro-farm infrastructure and test growing conditions on a 5000 sq foot area.

2016 marked the start of our CSA and market garden! The idea is it is a partnership between a farmer and a community of people who value their food. Quality food, that is produced close to home, with natural techniques and care. Food from people you can fellowship with. Basically a customer "subscribes" at the beginning of the year, pays up front and receives quality local food for a certain period of time.

Labor Day Saturday
with the fullest tent I have ever had. Colorado produce is in peak season.

There are very few weeks left, but we have plenty of veggies still growing and maturing in the fields

It’s definitely tomato season on the farm! I grow 2 varieties: Bolseno and Costoluto Genovese. I the are Italian Heirloom with incredible taste. Real tomatoes cannot be found in stores.

I had the great pleasure of being part of the annual Farm-to-Table Brunch at the Douglas County Fair. This morning and introduce many people to the farm and our produce.

It’s happening! Tomatoes are setting fruit. This is the earliest I have been able to get them planted here in Colorado. Another 3 to 4 weeks and I’ll have loads for sale! Remember the CastleRock Famers Market begins next Saturday June 14th. 8-noon at Douglas County Fairgrounds

Despite the hail damage, most of the greens have recovered and even flourished over the week. Sun, soil and moderate temps have helped. Harvests are on the schedule! Opening day of the Castle Rock Farmers Market is June 14th

We were in the path of a large sever Colorado hailstorm last night. Alot of damage, lots of loss, but it’s early in the season and the farm will recover.

How’s a farmer suppose to farm with our Colorado weather? It’s tough. 19 degrees this morning.

Luckily, I have been able to stash my tomatoes away in the garage with a heater to keep them safe. They are scheduled to be planted next week.

Beautiful weekend to get some beds prepped for planting this week. Before & after. Then I was finally able to go with my 2 oldest sons up skiing for the first time in 6 years. Farm life is about family and getting away when you can.

The snow, cold and cloudy weather on Friday and Saturday made way for a beautiful Sunday! It allowed some of my spring tomato babies to start the hardening off process and a few beds to get planted with carrots and Arugula. The plan is to get the High Tunnel full in a few weeks with tomatoes. Oh, and Saturday my youngest son, Landyn, tested and earned his green belt in Martial arts. Dude’s turning into a beast!!!!

Low tunnels are fully installed! Thanks I can’t wait to see how they extend my Colorado growing season this year and beyond.
