This is a great write-up about the FSA's Inspection & In-Hand National Year-End Awards. Friesian Sporthorses we bred are included (the ROF suffix) and the horses pictured bottom left and bottom right are both ROF bred horses.

Some trivia about the FSA’s National Inspection & In-Hand year-end awards🥇This award was first offered in 2010. The first National Champion was “Lancaster ROF”, a Main Book stallion by Lexington (Gold Elite / Main Book Friesian Sporthorse) and out of Natasha (Dutch Warmblood), bred by Gigha Steinman Moldrik / River Oaks Farm and owned by Sabina DiSano. The most recent Champion was "Onyx's Crescent S PB-SH", a Main Book filly by Sempatico S (German Warmblood) and out of Isa van PRF (Friesian), bred and owned by Patrice Brock.

There have been a total of 14 national champions since 2010 (one horse was the USA National Champion twice.) Onyx's Crescent S PB-SH (2024), Fonzie S.A. (2023), Jouke FK (2022), Tilly W (2021), Top Shelf Simba (2020), Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken (2019), Utsen Kula (2018), Sir Alexander (2017), Bella Vita (2016), Lotus CS (2015), Lily ROF (2014), Lisbon ROF (2013), Lauderdale ROF (2012), Lily ROF (again, 2011), and Lancaster ROF (2010.) Seven were Main Book Friesian Sporthorses, five were Foundation Book Friesians, and two were Auxiliary Book Friesian Sporthorses.

The highest score ever awarded was an 89.18% awarded to Lauderdale ROF, who was presented as a 3-year-old gelding in 2012. Lauderdale ROF is an Auxiliary Book gelding by Lexington (Gold Elite / Main Book Friesian Sporthorse) and out of Koloa (Friesian Sporthorse), bred by Gigha Steinman Moldrik / River Oaks Farm. The second highest score ever awarded was an 81.7% awarded to Lily ROF, who was presented as a weanling in 2011 (she went on to also win USDF’s Regional Championships that same year.) Lily ROF is a Main Book mare by Lexington and out of Natasha (Dutch Warmblood), and is currently owned by Karen Elder.

Pictured clockwise from top left: Utsen Kula (2018 Champion) owned by Patrice and Kari Brock / Paha Ridge Friesians; Sir Alexander (2017 Champion) owned/ridden by Kacie Linegar; Lily ROF (2011 & 2014 Champion) owned by Karen Elder; and Lauderdale ROF (2012 Champion) owned by Gigha Steinman Moldrik / River Oaks Farm.

Great tip! The difference between "pinto" and "paint" is SO important. We're also the proud breeder of the pinto Friesian Sporthorse pictured.

Memory Tip of the Day: people often confuse the terms PINTO (a color) and PAINT (a stockhorse breed.) Here's an easy way to remember the difference: PINTO is a COLOR (notice both words are two syllables) and PAINT is a stockhorse BREED (notice both words are one syllable.)

Pinto coloring can be found in several breeds of horses, from Warmbloods to Saddlebreds. The horse pictured here is a pinto Main Book Friesian Sporthorse stallion "Americus ROF" who inherited his pinto coloring from his pinto Friesian Sporthorse sire "Nico", who inherited his pinto coloring from his pinto Dutch Warmblood dam.

This is a great history summary. The ROF suffix is ours - River Oaks Farm. The national champions 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 were all bred here (ROF), and the record holders for the two highest scores ever awarded to Friesian Sporthorses were also ROF horses. Each of them was by Lexington.

In 2015 Gigha Steinman Moldrik became the FSA's inspection judge and we voluntarily agreed ROF horses wouldn't be eligible to participate for year-end awards anymore because it might look like a conflict of interest, although we kept breeding great Friesian Sporthorses.

The horse pictured is one of ours - Lauderdale ROF. By Lexington (Grand Prix Friesian Sporthorse stallion) and out of Koloa (Friesian Sporthorse mare.)

Consul is the great-grandsire of the Lexington offspring Lancaster ROF, Lily ROF, London ROF, Lisbon ROF, Sauvignon Blanc ROF, and Merlot. Each of those Friesian Sporthorses was out of the Dutch Warmblood mare "Natasha" (Jacobean (Roemer) / Consul / Nimmerdor). Consul stood at Iron Spring Farm, one of the country's top Warmblood and Friesian breeders. We were fortunate to have a mare with that breeding 💗 She had great offspring paired with Lexington.

This is excellent information. Only internationally recognized registries can issue UELNs. The Friesian Sporthorse Association - FSA is the only Friesian crossbred based registry in the USA authorized to issue UELNs. FPS/FHANA is also authorized to issue UELNs, but for purebred Friesians only.

A "UELN" is a 15 digit universal lifetime number issued to horses registered in internationally recognized registries. The UELN identifies the breed and registry of the horse worldwide. The Friesian Sporthorse Association (FSA) is the internationally recognized registry for Friesian Sporthorses.

The UELN begins with the country code, which identifies the registry's origin. This code is 3 digits. The FSA's code is 840, which signifies the USA, which is the registry's home base.

The next 3 digits of the UELN identify the breed and registry. The FSA's code is 039, which identifies Friesian Sporthorses and the Friesian Sporthorse Association.

The 6 digits of the UELN are then followed by the individual registration number issued by the registry, which may or may not have a "0" between the UELN and the individual registration number.

An FSA registration number begins with the birth year, followed by the unique individual registration number.

An example UELN # might be: 840039020157329. Deciphering this number tells you the horse is registered in the USA (USA/840) and is a Friesian Sporthorse (FSA/039) was born in 2015 and has the individual number of 7329.

A horse with the example UELN of 840039020157329 would usually use the full UELN (840039020157329) but they might instead use the abbreviations USAFSA20157329 (this is less common) or the number might be shorted in America to only FSA20157329.

If you've ever wondered how international registration numbers work, now you know!

These beautiful Friesian Sporthorses were all bred by River Oaks Farm, by the Elite Grand Prix Friesian Sporthorse stallion Lexington. Most combine Friesian, Warmblood, and Thoroughbred and were registered in the FSA's Main Book. A few have 25% Percheron and were registered in the FSA's Auxiliary Book. All are registered with the internationally recognized Friesian Sporthorse Association (FSA).
