Little Miss Draper
One thing about being a holistic groomer is knowing the importance of going at the dog’s pace, taking the time to figure out what they are most comfortable with, and what they can and cannot handle. Little Draper had to go to bath before pregroom. I dried her in the tub because I couldn’t keep her still enough to be on my table. Being deaf and blind she had no idea what was happening to her, moving around A LOT, pacing circles the entire bath and blow dry. By the time she was dry, she was exhausted. Even after a 30 minute break/nap she still didn’t feel up to the rest of the groom. I had her up in my arms before she even woke up. This old gal continued to lay down in a comfortable position, while I cut her nails from an awkward position. A little bit of problem solving, love, and patience goes a long way.
