As the Holiday season is upon and you are sharing all the goodies you get, please be aware of what your pets can and cannot safely have!

There are many different holiday toxins from food, plants and even decor that pets like to get themselves in trouble with!

Not only do you have the possibility of making your pet sick, they might end up needing a vet trip. Which in return will cost money.

Here is a quick info graph related to what food is dangerous/poisonous to your pets. If you are unsure, error on the side of caution and do not share with your pets.

Well, Sarge boy is back with us. His previous adopter wanted us to make sure that everyone knew it wasn’t Sarges fault. The adopter thought he was ready to move on after his last Shepherd and it turned out it was just too soon.

The last month has been very chaotic for Sarge and that takes a toll on a dog. His adopters will need to have patience and give him the structure and time to decompress and realize that he has found his family.

A quick run down of Sarge:

✅95 # - he’s a big boy
✅ 3 years old
✅ Neutered
✅ Heartworm negative
✅Flea Prevention
✅Heartworm Prevention
✅ 1st Distemper vaccine
✅ Rabies Vaccine
✅Kennel Trained
✅House trained
👌🏻Dog tested and passed - spayed female submissive
🐱 No cats
🧒 Doesn’t mind kids - older kids best due to size.

Commands he knows
👂Sit
👂Stay
👂Kennel
👂Working on leash manners
👂LOVES to play fetch. High toy & treat drive.

Sarge has a very bright future ahead of him. He just needs the right owner. He will require someone with plenty of dog training knowledge, especially German Shepherd/working breed. He has the drive to be your best companion but he is still young and needs a lot of confident direction.

His adoption fee is $130.

Being in a shelter environment can be stressful on the animals. Although we try our best to lessen that with good food, human interaction, and physical and mental enrichment; it still can cause the pet to have some built up energy.

When you bring your new family member home keep that in mind. It can take some time for them to settle down and adjust to their new routine and people in their lives.

There are many things that can be done help with the transition. Many training tips will help the process along; but time is the ultimate factor.

We like to think of 3-3-3 Rule;

3️⃣ Days

The first three days are incredibly overwhelming for your new dog. Everything in their life is changing all at once which can create feelings of anxiety and fear.

3️⃣ Weeks

After you have worked through the initial shock and excitement, it’s time to start the process of adjusting your dog to his/her new life.

3️⃣ Months

By this stage in the adjustment process, your dog has likely accepted the fact that they are officially ‘home’.

It might seem like a long and trying timeline; however, it’s worth it to give a pet a deserving home!

SCAC is always here to help with the adjustment period, if you adopt an animal from us and you have any questions or need some guidance don’t hesitate to reach out! We want the process to be as less stressful for both you and your new pet.

This guy would love a very low energy home and he’ll be your best friend!

He’s big & he’s beautiful & a snuggler; what more could you ask for?
