This cutie waited for me to finish up in the office before making his way into the world! We delivered him at 5:45 this evening and by 6:30 he was on his feet eating. I am always concerned about maiden mares, but this momma fell into motherhood like a champ. She was a little slow acknowledging that there was a mini me in the stall with her, but once she did, she went right to work! ♥️

Welcome to the world little one!! Momma was due February 14th, but decided to hold off and delivered a big, long legged c**t shortly after midnight! This big boy was quick to want to get to his feet and is settling in with momma nicely!💙

If you pull back and it looks like the left, don’t continue as that is heading straight to the brain!

You may wonder why we pull back into the syringe when giving injections in the vein. This picture explains why. We don't pull back to make sure we're in the vessel, we do it to make sure we're in the RIGHT vessel. Today I went to give an injection and pulled back and saw blood brighter than I wanted. I decided to go and get a new dose of sedation and once again pulled back and then gave my dose of sedation. The syringe on the left was my first injection and the syringe on the right was my second injection. Does anyone know why I shouldn't have injected that first syringe? And had I injected that first injection, what would have happened?

Congratulations are in order! Cody's Wish, the gutsy five-year-old winner of four of five stakes races this year and beloved equine pal to the late Cody Dorman, has been voted the first back-to-back winner of the Secretariat Vox Populi Award.

Owned by Godolphin, trained by Bill Mott, and ridden by Junior Alvarado, Cody's Wish won the 2023 Churchill Downs Stakes, Hill ‘N’ Dale Metropolitan Handicap, Vosburgh Stakes, and, for the second straight year, the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.

Beyond his victories and grit on the track, it was the horse’s connection to his namesake, Cody Dorman, that earned widespread admiration and affection from fans. The two Cody's first met in 2018 at Godolphin's Gainsborough Farm during a visit made possible by Keeneland's Make-A-Wish Day. A rare genetic disorder had relegated the then-12-year-old Cody to a wheelchair and rendered him unable to speak. An inquisitive 5-month-old foal was introduced to Cody and put his head in the boy's lap. With that, the bay c**t earned his name: Cody's Wish. The special rapport between the two continued to their earthly end—Cody’s Wish ran his final race on Nov. 4 and Cody Dorman passed the next day—but their bond endures for those who know their story, beginning with Cody’s family:

"We want to thank everyone who voted for Cody's Wish to help him achieve his second consecutive Vox Populi Award,” wrote Cody Dorman’s father Kelly, mother Leslie and sister Kylie in a special message. “The feeling of amazement and happiness has never changed from the first moment we met Cody's Wish to this day and beyond. Seeing his performances on the track and his enduring love for Cody in person will be branded into our hearts forever.”
