Greetings Hoofbeats fans! It's been a little minute since I've posted. It's been a long year of drought and lack of hay - and hopefully Mother Nature will be kinder to us this year. We've had to supplement hay since July, which really tore us up financially.

I need to do a fundraiser - as one of our horses needs to have some work done on his eyes. He's got cataracts, so he's practically blind. The vet said that she thinks he is still seeing shadows. The medical expenses, alone, let alone the transportation down to Austin is going to be insane. It will be roughly $10,000. He's worth it, though - and if the surgery is successful, it will give him a much better quality of life!! The poor guy bumps into everything! I had to put him in a smaller area to keep him safer - and so he could find his food.

What I have to offer are Custom T-Shirts that we make ourselves, here. Here are all the designs. The cost, including shipping will be $25.00. Know that we will get about $15 per shirt, after expenses.

In addition, if anyone is up to making a donation, we would be grateful! Our PayPal is [email protected] .

Thank you all, so much, for your love and support for our wonderful rescue! Please let me know, here, if you are interested - and let me know what size and color t-shirt you'd like. All sizes are unisex.

THANK YOU!

Hey there!! I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted. Pickles was adopted to a wonderful family. What a tremendous success story!!

We have been fundraising fools over here. We started a t-shirt business to help fund the rescue. Not only do we customize tees, we also customize and sell heat transfers - so if you know a garment designer that is tired of doing weeding with Cricut - please give them our info!!

Latest Design - Valentine's Day Custom Tee! Proceeds go towards Hoofbeats - and you get something in return! :) That's important to us!

Not sure what to get Grandma for Valentine's Day? How about a custom tee with all their grandbabies' names on it?

I can change the name to whatever your children call them - Memaw, Nana, Lala, Grandma (not just granny). There's room for a lot of hearts on this image - and I can stretch the design to make it bigger for bigger families!
Also, this can be for mothers, aunties, grandpas, fathers, etc. You name it!
The shirts are $20, plus shipping. Please let me know if you'd like one. 🙂
Thank you!

Hey Everyone!! Pickles is ready for adoption. As you remember, we got pickles from an auction. He was very sick and very emaciated. We brought him in to our rescue and put a couple hundred pounds back on him. He is a great horse for the intermediate rider although we have had kids on him with no issues at all.

He is 18 years old (we were told) with a lot of s***k still left in him. He is about 14.2 or 3 hands. I never did measure him, but he's not that tall.

We think he is a cross Tennessee Walker/Quarterhorse. He is not gaited, but he is built like our other Tennessee Walker. We have no way to confirm.

If you are interested in adopting Pickles please reach out to me. 469-499-4105

Hello Hoofbeats Fans!! Remember Pickles? He came to us a few months back. Very skinny and very sick. We weren't sure what his future was, but we wanted to give him the best shot we could!

As you can see, he is thriving! We are so happy he is doing so well. Pickles will be up for adoption in about a month or so!!

Dear Hoofbeats Fans! We are very proud to announce the deployment of Hoofbeats Coffee! Proceeds from the coffee sales will not only assist our organization, but we are also seeing a lot of other rescues that are absolutely devastated by the shortages and outrageous costs of hay.

We are seeing rescues that are needing help with vaccinations, feed, medical care and farrier services. They need help with the freedom ride after a rescue has spent the money to bail a horse out are trying to get a horse home or to a quarantine location.

Millions of people drink coffee every day! If everyone would please take the time and share this page - with our webpage and spread our message so we can get the help to those who need it - I would be eternally grateful!

In addition, if you know of anyone who has a store and would like to stock our coffee, we have so many flavors to choose from. We are not only looking to ship to your individual locations - but we're looking to be the coffee provider for any and all businesses nationwide to help our rescues throughout the USA.

Please click on our link www.hoofbeatscoffee.com - where you will not only see coffee - but our merchandise, as well.

We thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Please have a lovely night!

You can have your coffee and save a horse!

I have a grateful heart this evening......

I looked at all of my beautiful rescues tonight....the starved, the crippled, the unloved and the thrown away. All of them came to me with a story that I will never know.....pain, fear and defeat was their look when they arrived.

Today, that is no longer their look.

We all know the story of Forrest/Spirit....so many wanted him to be put down. He is my mascot. He wants to be in my back pocket if he could. I can love all over him and he loves it. He plays and splashes in his water like a 2 year old. Spirit wants to live. He has put on weight and his coat looks a lot healthier. He will never trot or run, but he is happy. One day, he will tell me when he's not, but not today.

Pickles, emaciated, afraid. He was very sick when he arrived. The auction house kept the kill buyer away from him, which I was grateful! Today, I had to shoo him away from Spirit's feed, and he reminded me that he is a Tennessee Walking Horse, with an attitude, and trotted off, light on his feet for the first time. I wish I had that recorded. It took my breath away. His coat is starting to get shiny, especially his neck. He's beautiful!

Outlaw, renamed to Chance arrived to the ranch with his head down in the trailer. Broke my heart. He was scared and unsure of himself. He appears to have a depth perception issue due to a foggy spot on his eye.

He wanted nothing to do with any of us for the first couple of days while settling in. I thought he could use some companionship, so I put him in the main pasture with pickles and Spirit. Pickles liked hanging with him, but he continued to be a loner and hide in the corner of the pasture.

We decided to put him in the yard in front of the barn. We have better visibility of him and when I go check on waters during the day, I want to talk to him and have us earn his trust. A few days later, he is taking treats, he is approaching us and he is allowing us to be in his space.

He was very malnourished, though, because he is losing his coat. I will post a video here with this post. This was not something that happened overnight or over a couple of months....this was long-term neglect. I thank the gal who got Chance out of the terrible situation and brought him to me......she saved his life.

Today, I am so grateful that each of these babies is improving....even if just a little bit. Spirit will not be adoptable....he will live the rest of his life, however long that will be, here at Hoofbeats.

Chance and Pickles......it's too early to tell, but we will continue to provide them with healthy food, clean water and lots of love so they will continue to thrive.

Thank you for your never ending support!!

Good Night!

Hello Hoofbeats Fans.....I want to introduce our latest rescue. This is Outlaw. He is estimated to be about 13 years old, about 15.1 hands and is a Quarterhorse. He was previously rescued by one of our Hoofbeats fans about 2 months ago, from terrible circumstances, and just can't get the weight on him, so she brought him to me for a long term or permanent solution. If we can get him rehabilitated, he may be a good candidate for rehoming, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

At Hoofbeats, our mission is to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Rehome "if possible". If not possible, he will remain here at Hoofbeats for the rest of his life.

I will have his teeth checked to make sure they don't need to be floated. We are going to let him settle in for a little bit and check him out. She thinks there might be a vision issue as well, and I am feeling the same. He seems very displaced and very confused. Plus, he whips his head around if he hears something, which tells me his peripheral is problematic.

More to come.......and as of today, I am at capacity.

P.S. Yes, he has access to shade. :)

Hello Hoofbeats Fans! As I have said before, running this rescue takes a village and I want to take a moment to share an Employee Spotlight!

This is Madison Clement and she is our Horse Trainer. She comes to the ranch about 3 times per week. She evaluates each horse and starts working with them from the ground up.

Madison has taken the beaten and scared horses and turned them into the trusting and loyal......all with patience, guidance and love.

This is Link. When Madison first started with him, he had just bucked someone off a short time before. With each ride, Link learned that Madison was not going to hurt him......and he finally rides nicely. It took a good 6 months....but we had nothing but time on our hands to make sure he was getting comfortable. It will always be about the horse.

Madison is also the owner/operator of MC Horse Training & Riding Lessons. Look her up on Facebook as she is accepting new clients and she will come to you!

Thank you, Madison, from all of us here at Hoofbeats, for your never ending desire to help the horses!!

Hello Hoofbeat Fans! I am posting for Kindra because she's laid up with an injury.......she wanted me to tell you all that HOOFBEATS COFFEE is coming!!!

That's right! Hoofbeats has negotiated a deal with a company which will put Hoofbeats Equine Rescue on the map with its own brand of Coffee!! This is great news!!!

What does this mean? The proceeds for all coffee sales will help keep their rescue stocked with hay and grain - AND - will allow for the expansion of the barn that they've been fundraising for - to accept other rescues and have an excellent spot for them to quarantine.

Prayers are getting answered.......and we are so incredibly grateful for the outpour of love and help!!

As soon as we are fired up, we will post the link here!!

Thank you so much and have a great weekend!

***UPDATE.....PICKLES IS SAFE***

Hey Hoofbeats Fans!! We are rallying up the troops for this one! This is Pickles, another Elkhart barn sale. Donna is batting away the kill buyers. I have enough to rescue but transport is $500. Any help is appreciated as I was contacted by one of the auction goers about him.

Here's our Venmo and PayPal email [email protected].

Thanks so much!!

Last post for the night! Hoofbeats finally has a real website! Don't laugh too hard....I am not a professional web developer and I don't even play one on tv.....but it gets the job done AND it has a donate button at the bottom. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!

I have customizable gear!! When someone donates - I really do like to give something back. There are mugs, onsies and mouse pads, to start! I can either put our Hoofbeats logo on there - OR - if you would rather put one of your pictures on there, that's ok too! :) You will just need to email me the picture.

Thank you, all, SO MUCH!! Have a great night!

I cannot run this rescue on my own, that's for sure!  Rosemarie Burton, my friend and my Barn Manager has been with me for over a year and she takes such wonderful care of our furry family.  She has a background in horses and goes above and beyond to make sure they are well cared for!

Hello Hoofbeats fans! Just a quick update that I don't really have an update. The vet was supposed to come out today to assess his quality of life and give me her opinion - but she had 3 emergencies come in today - 2 of them being horses dealing with colic. Today, Spirit was eating and drinking just fine and playing in the water tank, dumping about half of the 100 gallons. Thanks dude......but who am I to deny him a good time? :) He is stable and seems to be happy for the moment. I felt her emergencies were much more important, so we rescheduled for next Wednesday.

Stay tuned for more Spirit antics. I really want to catch him in the water tank. I saw him too late yesterday......he was splashing around like a kid in the tub. It was wonderful!!

I got in some snuggle time with Spirit (formerly Forrest) today!! He has so much Spirit, so the name suits him well. He fell asleep HARD in the paddock today.....so hard I thought he had passed......until I heard a slight snore coming from him. Lol!! Phew!!

He looked so comfortable that I laid down with him for a minute. He could not have cared less that I was laying with him. Here are a few pictures....such a sweet disposition. He is so people oriented.....he wants to be with us and is so curious.

He is eating so well and is pretty content.

Hello Hoofbeats Fans! I'm really excited! We were contacted by Renee Berube out of New Jersey (boy are we getting out there!) and she wants to do a fundraiser for us - using Pampered Chef.

Who am I to turn that down? Besides, I love their products.

Sooooo, here's the link! https://www.pamperedchef.com/party/hoofbeats2022

Full disclosure - here is what our organization will receive:
$200-$599 in sales, we receive 10% of total sales
$600 and above, we receive 15% of total sales.

A little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing!

Thank you so much for all of your support! We are grateful!!

P.S. Still working on adding a donate button. :)

06/24/2022

I have to share this......I wanted to test Forrest's abilities.....not anything major because he just cannot do anything major. I wet him down to cool him off....and brushed him out and he walked off. He kept scratching at the ground like he wanted to roll, but he wouldn't get down. I was so upset.....that's like a big deal for horses to be able to get down to roll and sleep. Part of his quality of life check. He just wouldn't.....

Then I went into the house.......the stinker. Check it out!!

06/23/2022

Forrest update. He is doing great! We have determined he is a gaited Saddlebred based on the features he has. He is such a good horse and has a sweet disposition. He made his way to the front of the property and has been talking to my other horses all morning. He had a scoop of senior feed and some hay. He is more of a grazer, though.

He is running a little soft on his stool and it's discolored (sorry if TMI). I suspect he needs to be wormed and I'm sure there is some stress there, too.

He is in quarantine and he can't get near my other horses for now.

Vet appointment next Wednesday.

Thank you for all your support and have a great day!

06/23/2022

I am happy to announce that Forrest has arrived to the ranch safely!! The vet will be out in a week to examine him, which gives me time to start his feed and supplements program. I sat and watched him for a good hour and he is getting around really well!

He can walk. He needs his hooves trimmed in the front. They are quite overgrown.

Please watch the video for additional commentary! I am so happy he is here! He has even been talking to my other horses since he arrived.

Greetings, Friends! I am very excited to announce that Hoofbeats Equine Rescue is now an affiliate with Brain Training for Dogs, which is a unique training course that features 21 Games to improve a dog's intelligence and behavior.

Q: "Why are you doing this?"
A: I have fundraising efforts in progress to expand my barn from 4 stalls to 10, so I can take in more horses.

The packages are $47 each and Hoofbeats will receive $31.50 for each package sold!

For fundraising, I have never been comfortable receiving funds without giving "something" back. This is my way of giving back - especially knowing that I have friends and connections with dogs who could use this training! Please click on the link below!

Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE!!!! In addition, if you are interested in making a donation, the Venmo address is
