Sonnenberg’s Royal Vegas

2021 KWPN 17 hand gelding by the exciting and successful stallion, LAS VEGAS (Ferdeaux x Wynton) out of the incredible mare Fine Time (Fürstenball x Sandro Hit) who herself was a finalist at the World Championships for Dressage Horses in Ermelo. This young gelding is half maternal brother to Sonnenberg’s Paris who was 2024 USDF Champion HOY for four years olds with an average score >88% and was Reserve Champion (by .008 from the champion) in Chicago for the 4 year olds.

He will likely mature a bit over 17 hands, he is modern, uphill, supple and powerful with three truly outstanding gaits. He has that special charisma and a temperament that is a “ten”. We can’t say enough great things about this beautiful guy.

He was started as a 3 year old in the summer of 2024 (had a month off while in Chicago) and every week, he shows us more. He was naturally balanced to start and is just improving daily as he develops rhythm and connection. If you know us, you know that we start our young horses very carefully, not pushing the gaits, but letting them come into their own through connecting into the contact while keeping his suppleness and power. He certainly is well on that path of coming into his own.

He’s the sweetest horse we have on the farm - kind and loving and truly loves his people. He’s in your pocket but in a kind way, not biting or pulling your clothes and he will put his face in your arms for cuddles. He rides easily in both the indoor and outdoor arenas and hacks on the trails as his mind is ideal. He has no vices, is perfectly sound with good x-rays.

He’s offered to an ambitious rider that wants a true superstar with both gaits and ride-abilty.

He’ll be sold via private treaty, but don’t let that sway you, he’s competitively priced. He’s the quality of the high quality young horses in Holland and Germany, however, you don’t have to pay to import him (and everything else) as he’s here in Oregon, just 30 minutes from Portland International Airport.

Our 3 yr. old homebred KWPN mare, Rayabel S ❤️, elite, (G***k's Taminiau x Ebony x Westpoint x Don Schufro) & Vai Bruntink scored a huge 88.5% in their IBOP(dressage talent test) competition. Great job Vai Bruntink & Stal Laarakkers for carefully and perfectly developing this wonderful young horse!🥰 What a future they have together, a true American/Dutch partnership!🇳🇱🇺🇸🇳🇱🇺🇸

"With a 9.5 for trot and 9's for posture/balance, riding & workability/aptitude as a dressage horse, Rayabel S (Taminiau from Karabel elite IBOP-dres D-OC from Ebony) came from breeders Dan and Gina Ruediger of Sonnenberg Farm from Sherwood, OR, USA to the top score of 88.5 points. She is a granddaughter of the Grand Prix mare Darabel and is thus bred from a half-sister of, among others, the KWPN-approved stallion Kilimanjaro and several successful Light Tour horses. “This is a very complete mare, which was very well presented by Vai Bruntink. It was not for nothing that she got this high score! She steps very well, with space, body use, strength and good suppleness. In trot she has a very good leg technique, cadence/rythem and makes it easy to lengthen and shorten. It can also collect well at a gallop, and the image is clearly very uphill. Rayabel S gallops with a lot of balance and is very light-footed in all three gaits. The light and soft connection was also a clear positive point of this talented mare”, says Wim Versteeg. ❤️ Sonnenberg’s Nala d’ Rosa ❤️

6 year old now developing passage, flying changes and lovely collected work. 🤩

Character and extra talent describe this 16.1 hand, KWPN mare by UB40 out of Fair Rosa S, (Ampere x Farrington). She’s been successfully shown through 2nd level with scores in the low-to-mid 70s and she’s now schooling 3rd level with green changes and showing us tremendous talent for collection. Nala is extra supple, elastic with a super hind leg which allows her to excel in her half steps and beginning passage - showing that she is a true FEI prospect. Additionally, she is a complete horse with all 3 excellent gaits (see her walk at the end of video), light in the bridle, comfortable to sit, forward thinking with a willing/try-hard character. Certainly the quality of her is ideal for a professional but she is also suitable for an ambitious JR/YR or AA in a program.

We had such a fun 2024 KWPN Keuring few weeks ago and some super results attached link: “Report from the Road” has great notes on each horse presented and their scores.

Keuring Time! 🇳🇱🇺🇸🇨🇦

The 2024 North American KWPN Keuring tour makes it’s annual stop at Sonnenberg Farm this Saturday, August 31, 2024. Start time is 8:00 AM - don’t be late and come see what the excitement of the KWPN (Dutch) horses is all about!

Exciting dressage foals will be inspected this year by Le Formidable, Elastic, Vitalis, Governor, Extreme US, So Perfect and Sonnenberg’s Jersey!

Super interesting hunter and jumper foals will be presented by Cohinoor VDL, Diktator VD Boslandhoeve, For Friendship VDL, Diacontinus, Vingino and finally we will have some great gelders foals by Pharoah DG, Holland and Ferdeaux!

Very exciting foal line up in the dressage, jumper, hunter and gelders breeding direction of the KWPN.

Approximate schedule:

8:00-10:00AM: Mature Horses and Riding tests

10:00-10:30AM: Two Year Olds, Yearlings

10:30AM-12:30 PM: Foals, foals, foals!

No cost to come watch and we hope to see you here at Sonnenberg for the 2024 inspection.

Well done Michele Bondy, Sonnenberg’s Paris (Vivino x Fürstenball) & Sonnenberg’s Primrosa (Secret x Ampere). At the 2024 Markel/USEF National Championships in the 4 year old finals, Paris scored a huge 91.2% with (4) 9+’s, and Prim scored an 86.4% with (2) 9’s. On the final day, Paris placed first and Prim placed second in the finals.

Overall, Michele & Paris ended up 2024 US Reserve National Champion, and was only separated by .08 with W***y Arts and his awesome stallion, Pharoah DG (also bred in the US). Shout out also to Jen Vanover and her young stallion, MW Virtuous, who was right there in the mix and US bred as well.

Thankful for our coaches who help us bring out the best in our horses, Christophe, Sabine, Christine and gratitude to Erika Furkis for helping us get through the week!

Amazing to see that mares are taking top spots in the 2024 Olympics for dressage! At Sonnenberg, we’ve been blessed with WAY more fillies than c**ts and as a result, we have some extraordinary fillies for sale.

Our fillies are impeccably bred and all stem from some of the best sport producing mare-lines, so they are ideal for dressage and also to breed ET while in sport. Our goal is to choose homes with riders that have successfully developed young horses and that can bring out the best in them. These fillies have so much promise and potential!

Different prices, so please PM us if you have some interest and together we can see if it’s a great fit. We also offer the opportunity to board them - in a small heard in large fields, until they are ready to get their career’s started.

2024 KWPN Fillies:

❤️ Una Rosa, (Le Formidable x Ampere), gorgeous black modern filly with extraordinary movement, long legs bred via ET out of Sonnenberg’s Juliette d’Rosa, and half maternal sister to Sonnenberg’s Primrosa, (Secret x Ampere) who qualified for the 2024 US (US Festival of Champions) Young Horse Championships with an average of 87.2% and was the highest scoring mare in 2023 for the North American KWPN.

❤️ Upon A Time, (Extreme US x Le Formidable) another gorgeous black filly out of Party Time (Le Formidable x Fürstenball), 2023 KWPN NMK finalist and huge IBOP (mare performance test) score of 84.5%. Upon’s grand dam is Fine Time who was finalist at the world championships in Ermelo. This filly was bred by us in Holland and could be raised there or imported.

❤️ Ulympia, (So Perfect x Desperado), stems from another famous family and mare-line. Ulympia’s dam is 3/4 maternal and paternal sister to the approved stallion, Asgard’s Ibiza, (Desperado x Jazz), amongst other stallions from this family including Charmeur and Zhivago. Ulympia’s dam is also full sibling to an approved Westfalen and GOV approved stallion, Despo-Olympus von Bellin. This filly is modern, supple and beautiful and shows us three outstanding gaits.

2023 Filly:

❤️ Taradine, (My Vitality x Franklin) is again from a mare-line that is producing approved stallions and Grand Prix horses. The most recent GP horse competing in Wellington is the full sibling to her dam, Kaliber, competed by Andrea Woodward. Kaliber is a very exciting young Grand Prix horse for the future. Taradine’s sire, My Vitality is the full-brother to Vitalis, and has competed at the World Championships multiple times becoming a finalist. Taradine has a super mind, natural passage, with a light footedness rarely seen - this filly barely touches the ground.

We also have a couple of other really nice two-year-olds that will be offered once we bring them to the barn this fall, so please let us know if you’d prefer something closer to being started.

Wonderful show at Nadine Schwartsman’s beautiful Les Bois Dressage. Such a super venue, footing, people, perfectly run and all the little things they do for their participants is incredible. Thanks Nadine and Noah, you’re simply the best! 🤩

Results were quite super too:

Sonnenberg’s Paris 💙 (Vivino x Fürstenball) got four “9’s” from the panel and an overall of 89.60% in the four year old qualifier.

Sonnenberg’s Primrosa ❤️ (Secret x Ampere) was also exceptional with two “9’s” and high 8’s and an overall of 87.20% also in the four year old qualifier. This mare is the first daughter of Juliette d’Rosa.

Sonnenberg’s Juliette d’Rosa ❤️ (Ampere x Farrington x Jazz) won both her FEI qualifiers and scored 73.60% in her Prix St. Georges and 70.44% in her Intermediare 1.

Sonnenberg’s Nala d’Rosa ❤️ (UB40 x Ampere) won her second level test 3 classes with 72% and 71%.

Over the weekend, Michele Bondy & Sonnenberg's Juliette d'Rosa ❤ (Ampere x Farrington x Jazz) won both the 2024 DevonWood Ginny Rattner Memorial CDI3* Prix St. Georges & Intermediare 1. Each day of their competition, they were the highest scoring CDI horse competing in all divisions. A five judge panel of high ranking global judges were brought in for this competition and they were strict yet very fair.

Thank you to Noah Rattner and Devonwood for your continued support of dressage in the North West/Region 6. Big thanks to our coach, Christophe Theallet for the great coaching and work together over the last 6 years. Special thanks to all our clinicians/other coaches who have all had a role in developing our farm's dressage horses including Sabine Schut-Kery, Christine Traurig & Charlotte Bredahl.

Just received pics and videos from Holland of our Sonnenberg’s Rayabel, ❤️ (G***k’s Taminiau x Ebony x Westpoint x Don Schufro), a 2021 KWPN mare. She’s part of the horses we’ve bred in Holland and will do her KWPN inspection and riding test this year.

G***k’s Taminiau (G***k’s Toto Jr. x Sandro Hit x Caprilli) is developing absolutely incredibly as a future star 🌟 for the international Grand Prix arena, so we are excited to have such a well moving daughter of GT. This young mare also stems from a super mare-line in Holland with “close in” approved stallions and very successful FEI horses.

Meet U Jersey BB, (Sonnenberg’s Jersey x Ebony x Westpoint x Don Schufro). He’s a stunning black c**t and the spitting image of his father. Strong, leggy, uphill with super top line and conformation with correct legs and what a mover he is too!
