Reins of Rhythm's volunteer run organization has a mission of providing a fun and educational experience through the use of horses in an inclusive environment. We provide lessons for both able bodied riders and riders with special needs. We hold events that encourage riders with special needs and riders who are able bodied to participate together. Riders are educated in all areas of horsemanship a

s appropriate to help develop a complete equestrian education: our focus is always on ABILITIES. Not only are riding skills learned, but also training and handling skills, care of the horse, as well as proper care and use of riding equipment.

To say we are making the most of this ahhhmazing autumn weather is an understatement!
Here is just a sneak peak into a packed full schedule of kids and adventures last week around the farm!
Crunchy 🍁 leaves 🍂 out on the trail for adventures on horseback learning skills including, safety seat, surrounding awareness, horse body language and more!

The 🚌 bus stops here!! Reins of Rhythm welcomed a great group of students from a Cumberland County elementary school for a riding, learning and horsemanship field trip! Children did Horse Powered Reading®️ activities as they developed their reading and math skills to care for the horses, fun crafts and a fall trail ride made for “this is my best day ever” feedback from so many of the children!

Every one of these moments are made possible by a very committed team of volunteers and the generous giving from the community including, Partnership for Better Health, Adams Electric Cooperative, Volvo Construction Equipment North America, Timmons Oil, Schreiber Foods and individuals who support RoR by adopting a horse!

Now Enrolling foster and adoptive kids in our program.

Stable Moments is a mentorship program that meets once a week for an entire school year.

At Stable Moments are given a place to belong and a horse to connect with.
We currently have grant funding that will subsidize lesson costs for 4 more students! These scholarships will be applied on a first come first serve basis!

We could not be more thankful and excited to share with you that our Stable Moments program is up and running! Programs like these take a huge commitment to get off the ground.
We are so proud of our intern who did all the hardwork of fundraising for her courses, studying, classes, and learning to earn her certification to direct this program at Reins of Rhythm. Thank you to the volunteers who continue to work tirelessly to write grants and build relationships to help fund this program to support these amazing children!
A big HUGE thanks to Schreiber Foods and their Greater Green Bay Area Community Foundation for seeing how impactful this program is and recognizing how much of a difference we can make when hard work, commitment to difference making and generous giving come together to be a positive and hopeful community seeking to support youth who have experienced foster care!

Do you know a child who has experienced foster care?? They are eligible for a scholarship to attend this 10-month program at Reins of Rhythm! Send us a PM so we can get you all the enrollment information! Current scholarships cover 90% of the costs per session, making these sessions on $10/per session!!!! We currently only have 4 scholarship spots left!

👻 Boo! We interrupt your scrolling with smiles, costumes, horses and fall fun! Riders have been working on so many riding skills with the Trick or Treat pumpkin patch as they improve steering skills, soft hands, and focused transitions, plus keeping those heels down while they ride down pumpkin patch lane. Teamwork, clear communication, focus, learning to use our listening ears to follow step by step instructions are just a few of the life skills learned in these fall fun lesson adventures!

What a delightful day the Pennsylvania National Horse Show hosted for kids of all ages to come and learn all about horses! 2024 Celebration of the Horse Event is in the books - with lots of horse hugs, smiles and so much fun!

Reins of Rhythm Riding & Horsemanship’s Rose, Charlie and Joey were the stars as they empowered youth to work on their math skills learning about the importance of accuracy in feeding, science and learning biology is so much more fun when you are discovering horse anatomy with Rose as your teacher and, how much fun is growing your vocabulary with horse body parts, tack and equipment while doing a scavenger hunt??? Thanks to the Partnership for Better Health and the Pennsylvania National Horse Show Foundation who fueled our horse powered learning and Horse Powered Reading!

Every kid in deserves a supportive community. That is why we, at Reins of Rhythm Riding & Horsemanship are launching a mentorship program to develop life skills in kids who have experienced the foster care system.

Do you know or provide care to a child(ren) who are in or have been in foster care? Did you know that horses can be hugely impactful in helping develop and enhance skills such as responsibility, confidence, communication, empathy and so much more! Comment below for us to send you a PM with all the information on how to enroll a child or children in this new program! Thanks to a generous grant from Schreiber Foods and the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation given to make a difference in the lives of youth who have experienced the foster care system, we are able to offer scholarships to hugely subsidize enrollment for 4 children. This will be on a first come first serve basis! The program is a 10-month, 1 hour/per week, 1 on 1 program with a personalized care plan for each child enrolled!

Reins of Rhythm headed off the farm and trailered in hope, healing and happiness with three members of our equine team, to young women at Bethany House of Cumberland County.
During this special time together our volunteers and horses were able to facilitate interactions with the horses through intentional activities that encouraged team work, leadership, and communication. During these activities they had many discoveries of how compassion and empathy can provide avenues to trust, support safe boundaries and build healthy relationships.
This evening would not have been possible without the generous giving of our friends at the Partnership for Better Health. Their support and desire to bring compassionate care, support and healthy lives to those in Cumberland County and other surrounding counties has enabled us to bring horses and their hope and help to many, many who would otherwise not have been able to engage and be empowered by these amazing animals!
A big thank you to our friends who also gave to help cover the fuel costs to haul the horses to this event.

Rodeo Fun Show 2024

Our riders got to take part in a gaming fun show where they got to be timed, ride a variety of different horses, and receive ribbons for each event! Plus they got to cheer on their riding mates! Riders joined in fundraising to help cover the costs for their favorite horse friends! You can join in the fundraising to help the superhero horse teams meet their goals! Snow Day fun!

We are so thankful to the creative and generous marketing team at Volvo Construction Equipment North America - Shippensburg office. They selected to support Reins of Rhythm Riding & Horsemanship with their amazing light display at the annual Volvo Lights exhibit in December. Their team got 2nd place, with the help of all of you voting for them, which resulted in Reins of Rhythm getting a donation of $500! Thank you to each member of the team who took part in this, selected Reins of Rhythm and voted in support! (photo of their display in the comments)

The Reins of Rhythm herd is here to say, don't let wet weather stall your play - you just have to get creative! Wet pastures that prevent exercise and turn out time call for some creative means of play time for the ponies! Exercise is important for the horse's health - some of them need encouragement for movement for metabolic reasons, others need mental exercise to prevent boredom.

The herd hopes everyone had a Merry Christmas!

December may have been a very wet month but that sure didn't stop the Reins of Rhythm herd from having lots of Christmas fun, exercise, and putting the many riding skills developed over the past year into practice with activities and interactive learning with their friends. Thank you to all our friends, supporters, and volunteers who helped bring joy and smiles to so many hearts and faces the past year!
