Haven’t posted much lately and maybe I will sum up summer at the end of the week but i definitely wanted to post this today. Yesterday Avery and I drove out to Long Island at 5:30am for the two shows in one day Suffolk County KC show in Old Westbury. For reference the previous year Avery and Moses finished their championship on the Sunday (Westbury KC) of this little circuit of shows.
It was rainy and cool and when we pulled up to the new location we noticed that instead of being outdoors it was in like a metal pavilion with rubber floors. The flooring was a little awkward at first but it was nice to not be out in the rain.
First show we both got select which was a little bit of a downer in a small show but it is what it is.
Waiting for the afternoon show. And knowing we had a long drive back you wonder is it even worth it but you stay and enjoy the company. So I worked with Avery and Moses to fix some of the mistakes from the am show.
Delayed start and when we finally got in the ring
Avery and Moses showed beautifully and were awarded best of breed. Select for me and Ginger again no love for doggy bi***es but all good. So we wait for group. Again a long day Avery looks at me and says she wants a placement but would rather not a first placement again so she doesn’t need to stay for Best In show. Well don’t you know it they go in and I am watching the judge and I am saying myself they way she kept looking at Moses “she’s going to give them first”. That’s what she did. Avery and Moses took a Hound Group One! We were thrilled. Of course onto BIS it was a very competitive group of bis winners but they held their own and made us all proud. Icing on the cake the judge that awarded them Bow last year finishing his championship got to see them this year get the group one she was so happy and proud. So Moses is now Group winning Ch Avelyn Into the Promise Land. Thank you to Judge Sylvia T Barkey for the breed and group win and Suffolk County KC for the lovely rosette, prizes and the location.
Couldn’t be more proud as a grandma and breeder. What an amazing team.
We got home at 9pm last night. Today we rest.

We went to Long Island today and at the Brookhaven KC show #1 Ginger (Gch Unbridled Spirit of Ginger) took Best of Breed and a Hound Group four under Breeder Judge Denise Flaim. Adding video from Jenna. Ignore the correction Ginger was distracted by a car alarm and a puppy she desperately wanted to see.

Wonderful Sunday at the National Capital KC show. Avery and Moses were unstoppable all day. Started in the breed taking best of breed and best of breed owner handler under breeder judge Ms. Patricia Clark. Ginger was best of opposite. Then they went into Juniors and won their class out of three again under Judge Patricia Clark (she also won her juniors class the day before). Then in OH group she won a Group One under Judge Dr. Oleg N. Volishin, PHD. No love in regular group. But wow what a day for this young team! And how nice of the National Capital KC to give so many lovely Rosettes. Moses is Ch. Avelyn into the Promise Land and Ginger is Gch. Avelyn Unbridled Spirit of Ginger.

Some minor cheers for this past weekend. Ginger and I went out to Bushy Run and Saturday we won Best of Breed under Judge Susan St John Brown and OH group one under Judge Mr. James M Brown. Sunday we went Select and Boboh under Dr. Ronald I Spritzer. We did not stay for group. What made my weekend were the wonderful compliments on Ginger by the Browns. Mr. James Brown told me, “I don’t normally judge hounds but when I saw her I thought that looks like a nice looking ridgeback then I put my hands on her and I thought that’s a Really nice ridgeback.”

Fun weekend for Ginger at Avelyn. We did Fastcat on Saturday with the Greater Valley Forge Rhodesian Ridgeback Club. Well done by them. Smooth and everyone helped out it was pleasure to be there. I had tried Fastcat with Ginger at one of the Freehold shows and she wouldn’t run. So the first run here took her a bit but she realized I was at the end and did run and won the turtle 🐢 😆 but her second run she actually chased the lure so definite progress, not fast but not too slow. Moses who ran at Freehold wouldn’t run here the first time but his second run with his family at the end he did complete. Sunday I took Ginger to the Bryn Mawr show in the afternoon and she won Best Of Opposite under Judge Cindy Vogels. Pretty happy and successful weekend.

Holy sh ! It was a banner weekend for Avelyn at the Freehold shows. Ginger, Avelyn unbridled spirit of Ginger won select Saturday and Sunday. But today I am still in shock. Mr Churro, my boy that I have been struggling to find that last major for exceeded my expectations beyond my thoughts. All I was thinking he got WD okay good I just need the crossover that’s all I need and he’s done. I left Ginger in the crate and stayed on Churro to help get that win. Whelp he went Best Of Breed over multiple champions and I was shocked. We stayed for group and weathered the weather lol to show in both regular hound group and owner handled hound to come out winning both groups! Stunned 😳 is me. Nothing in best in show he was beat at that point but my thanks to judge Gernardo Bernard for the breed and hound group win and Mr. Zhida Duan for the OH group win. Thank you to my dog show friends who were supportive, my family and The Big Man up above. God is good. Churro will now be once AKC approves. Ch Avelyn The Proof is in The Bake (RufusxAlice)

Update: Looks like he has a home. Thank you everyone for your interest we will update if there is any changes.
We have a young boy available to a good home. This is Jet. He is a gorgeous boy with a ridge that has offset crowns. He is 15 months old and about 95-100 lbs. He was raised around young kids and his owner couldn’t say a negative thing about him except that sometimes he pulls on the leash. He is unfortunately being rehomed due to personal circumstances that are not directly related to him. Hey is UTD on shots all vet appointments. He is not neutered and will be required to stay intact until he is two. If you or someone you know may be interested in him please reach out through DM or at [email protected].

There is a certain disappointment when you breed a litter that you were super excited about to find that you have a single puppy that needs to be delivered by C-section. But God works in mysterious ways. He is perfect! Also after my injury would I have been able to care for a large litter right now? Not without great difficulty. Now I get to sit on the bed and spoil this little one rotten. Meet Adam (ThatcherxAlice).

Two out of three ain’t bad. Churro, Avelyn the Proof is in the Bake, won WD two out of the last three shows. He won at Hatboro KC show under Judge Jean-Christophe Boulinguez and under Judge Mrs.Linda Clark at the Devon Dog Show which almost turned into a scene from the beginning of the Wizard of Oz, lol. The wind almost took the whole tent and freaked out most of the dogs today. Churro is now pointed out at 12 with one major. All majors broke this past weekend but he has collected those points super fast. Very proud of this sweet sensitive boy. Thank you Morgan Penelope for the pic and video from the Saturday show.

We are thrilled to announce we have a new champion here at Avelyn. Moses is now Ch. Avelyn Into the Promise Land. Always expertly handled by my granddaughter Avery. These two have become quite a team. Thank you to Missy Brong for her amazing guidance and training. Thank you to John Janice Paolicelli for suggesting we come out to Long Island again for some dogs shows. Thank you to Jenna Laws for all your support and encouragement. Thank you Autumn Gilmore, Morgan Penelope, Alison Ankiewicz and everyone else who has supported and cheered them on! Now onto GCH and working on Juniors. Look at that smile!

Super excited to announce this breeding of my Alice (Ch. County Line through the Looking Glass) to Thatcher (MBISS GCHB Lyonnese Iron Legacy). We are all really excited about this litter due late Oct. You know they say it takes a village (which by the way I hate that saying ever since Hillary coined it in her book...yuck) but in this context it works. Thank you for everyone involved in this Meghann Parker and Carl Bloksberg (my co-breeders on this litter) for helping with getting the breeding done. Maureen Tauber, Debbie Iniello Holly, Theresa M Lyons and Channe Cole of Lyonnese and Thatcher's owners for making this all so easy for me. Extra thank you to Theresa for this beautiful ad! It was worth the wait!
