$5 FRIDAY! We really need to pay off our current vet bills, and we have a lot of upcoming payments too 😩 Walter goes to the cardiologist next week and we need $800+ to cover that appointment. We just had a bunch of cats go to the vet this week to get medical care that they needed. I need to order prescription food for Arthur and Muffy (and I just ordered a pricey supplement to trial too). Lots of financial stress over here 🫠

Any amount helps! Thank you!!

UPDATES! the girly girls 💕

Dovey: she tested positive for herpes virus + calicivirus 😭 I’m thinking because she’s vaccinated it’s not hitting her so hard. She’s doing very well and acting like her normal self, just with some snot and eye boogies. 😅 she may also have a diagnosis for her ulcer of an eosphinophilic plaque, which essentially means there’s a certain type of white blood cell showing up there and a steroid course may help it heal. I’m holding off on that treatment until she’s feeling better, but hopefully that helps! Otherwise, a food allergy could be causing it, or she may need a biopsy to get further information on it. :,(

Wren: I took her to our vet for a second opinion on her leg, now that she’s at a better age & weight for surgery. After getting X-rays & having the radiologist review, it seems her leg isn’t actually as bad as it looks. However, there is still an old fracture near her growth plate, which means her leg won’t ever develop normally, but that’s not to say it’ll be any issue for her. At this time, her Dr and the radiologist recommend not amputating as it’s not causing her any pain or issue, and she is actually starting to use her foot instead of dragging or hopping. We are going to continue to get it examined every month or two at least for the first year of her life. If there’s muscle wasting, pain, or any other issue, we may have to amputate. I want to do right by her and take the recommendations of her doctors, so I will not be scheduling an amputation unless necessary. Due to this, she will be available for a local foster to adopt situation once she’s spayed, so that she can get the continued care at our vet under the rescue.

Raven: she was a little gabapentin angel at her 2nd appointment and was able to get her snap test, vaccine, and microchip! She does have someone interested in adopting her, so I’m hoping that works out! If anything changes, I will open up apps for her!

Misty: she tested positive for herpes too, so that likely explains her ongoing sneezing! Her symptoms are mild, so I’m not worried about her at all. Like we’ve said, this is very common! Trying an antiviral med & opening apps for her soon!

Muffy & Arthur are still dealing with belly issues/having bad diarrhea, and it’s looking like we’re going to have to trial a prescription diet in the near future 😩 don’t worry if you sent donations of the sensitive stomach food — we will still be using that (and they go through food quickly!) until we get everything sorted out with prescriptions and delivery, etc.

It’s honestly so difficult for me to monitor and manage when there are so many other cats here. I feel so bad that they’re still having issues and are probably super uncomfortable 😭 and I’m stressing about how expensive the prescription food is. We still have a lot of bills to pay off, as well as upcoming bills, and having to incorporate prescription food into that only makes things worse financially. But, of course I will do anything they need to make them feel better. 🤞🏼

***Please do not comment your recommendations or advice. We have ruled things out after multiple tests and are working closely with our vets to deal with this issue, which is likely something genetic since they’re having the same problem (and no one else is). I am not looking for advice or input.

the sweetest face, squishy boy, who you would never expect to be so bratty. He had me chasing him all around the house and I’m still not able to catch him. 😅 he really needs his ear drops - I can see the gunk in his ears and him shaking his head. Hopefully I can get him locked in the foster room soon 🙄

More updates on the rest of the babies (at Gab’s) later today! Just need to some time to type everything up!

Misty, Dove, and Raven all went to the vet today, and proved my point of why I’ve waited as long as possible to make this appointment. I knew it was going to be a huge production. 😅 I wasn’t even the one who brought them to the vet, and it still somehow took up my entire day. I spent the morning chasing finch around and couldn’t get him in a confined space or a carrier, so he didn’t go. Then I got all the girls in the foster room and shortly after had to get gabapentin in Misty and Raven. That was a huge production as I’m sure you can imagine. After multiple methods, Raven got a little in (Misty was easier than I thought). Then I had to write up an email to the vet about what everyone needed, put notes on their carriers, got their carriers ready & got them loaded in.. also not such an easy task for two of them. Once they were there, Raven didn’t have enough gaba in her so she couldn’t get everything she needed done. She’ll be back tomorrow. 😅 after talking to the vet and communicating with Gianna and their transporter, oh and freaking out because the techs weren’t going to bother trying to handle Raven or Misty after the hassle of getting them there … I wasn’t really able to work much until 5pm. So that’s wonderful. 🙃

Not to make this a complaining hour, but just a glimpse into why I truly hate getting some of these guys to the vet and why it’s hard to do this when we need to work our actual jobs. Now I’ll be making up for it all night. 😭 Anyway…. We could definitely use donations as we had multiple respiratory PCRs sent out and a cytology of Dove’s ulcer. and I could use a nap and a Xanax. 🙃🙃🙃

More info on each of them to come, and hopefully some adoption applications will be open soon! Donations can be made to fosterthefurbabies via PayPal, Venmo, or Cashapp! We will post the invoice once we have it. Thank you for helping these little ones. ❤️❤️❤️

A cozy winter day filled with bird watching and snuggles. ❄️🤍 it seriously makes me tear up thinking about these little ones experiencing their first winter where they get to be safe and warm indoor instead of living outside where they were found. It’s always hard knowing there are endless cats living in the elements and that we can’t help them all, but these little lives here are all changed for the better now. Some might need a little work on their socialization, some might drive me crazy, but they are safe and warm and very loved regardless. ❤️ oh and the smaller black one in the first pic and pictures in some others is Miss Raven. She is making herself very comfortable after escaping the foster room. 🥹🥹

Thank you all for your continuous donations and support. We couldn’t have saved any of them without you. 🙏🏼 and a huge thank you to Jayne Furr for trapping Misty, Brock, Raven, Finch, and Dove and giving them a chance, and thank you to Marcy for saving Wren and her siblings. ❤️ both also worked on TNRing the rest of their colonies. 🙏🏼 TNR and fostering are both so much work, time, energy, and money, so it’s amazing when we can all help each other out.

Brandy 🧡🤍🖤

If you don’t know Brandy, she’s my “resident foster” (😅) aka an unadoptable girlie. And she’s only unadoptable by her choice. 🙄 she’s Frosty’s sister and I’ve had them both since about 6 weeks old. Their 3 siblings got adopted but these two have stayed with me. For Frosty, it’s because he has many congenital conditions so I felt like it was best for him to stay under our rescue. For Brandy, it’s because she never wanted to like humans. 😅 when she eventually started coming around, she found the best home (now Karma & Bukky’s home), but she went into a major panic & depression while there and we all felt like it was best for her to come back to me. Now she’s here to stay because I only want what’s best for her.

She loves her feline friends so much and she does actually like humans now, as long as we don’t get too close! But on rare occasions, she actually asks for pets and attention. 🥹 (usually when another cat is around getting attention - in this case, it was Bowie.)

Here she is getting belly rubs, head scratchies, and the last pic is her screaming at me to pet her. 😹 not pictured is me being able to kiss her little face too. 🥹 she’s a very lucky gal, that’s for sure!

HEY New Adopters! Don't forget that while bringing home a new cat is exciting for you, it is usually unsettling for your kitty. Please be patient. Cats may hiss or bite or p*e outside the litterbox at the beginning. It's not personal. Don't rush a relationship.
Start them in a smaller room until they get used to the sounds and the smells.
The majority of returns of cats back to the rescue is due to the rushing of the relationship upon arrival in their new home where the cat is confused and defensive. Please go slow and remember: Slow and steady wins the race!
