SO proud of my big-hearted buddy Angel for all the progress he has made in the groom room. Angel came to me, like many of my clients do, with a lot of fear and discomfort around grooming and handling, and we have been steadily building back his trust and increasing his threshold for stress. The key ingredient to Angel's success is that his mom is on board with the "humanity over vanity" approach: we opt to meet Angel at his comfort level, which often means certain portions of the groom are uneven or unfinished. Mom knows that prioritizing his stress level over the fine-tuning of the haircut will show Angel that I am in tune with his needs, and he will feel much safer with grooming in the future. And it's worked like a charm for my little buddy...how cute does he look!? 🥰

Missing sweet boy Gaston today! Gaston became one of my first regular grooming clients when his family adopted him all those years ago, and he did not miss a single monthly "spa day" for the rest of his life. I'm so honored to have been part of his world, and like all of my beloved clients and their families that have moved away or passed on, he's on my heart often. 🌈🐾

I wanted to apologize to prospective and existing clients for the total inactivity on this page the last few months, and for the inconsistencies in my working schedule.

This winter, we discovered my sporting dog Phaser has a degenerative disorder when he suffered a major injury to his spine, resulting in partial paralysis in his back end. My entire life was put on hold to nurse him back to health - a long recovery window with many trips to the specialist. I'm happy to report that, although he is unfortunately retired from his high-impact sports, his back has healed beautifully and he is recovered enough to live a normal, happy dog life (although he still has some neurological deficit in his back legs). He's even back to work at his very favorite thing, scent detection.

Thank you so much to all of my regulars who were so kind, empathetic and encouraging throughout this ordeal. Now that our lives are slowly returning back to normal, I am excited to return to utilizing this page as a way to communicate with my clients and share some joy in the form of adorable dogs!

Baby Stanley had an amazing time for his first trim! It is so important to set puppies up for success by going slow, low-pressure and incorporating lots of fun, playtime and snuggles into their grooming sessions.

Today's is my very own god-dog, Morgan the Goldendoodle. She's a small-town celebrity for her luscious flowing locks, but a big allergic reaction had her coat in shambles, so we did a pretty big trim to remove all the damaged hair. Now it can grow out healthier and stronger - plus, she looks awfully cute!

Sweet Mia and I have been working together for a few months now, helping her overcome some anxiety about the grooming process. We're still working on it (and growing out some shaved spots, too), but Mia has made huge strides and I was SO proud of her today!!

Sometimes, the positions or movements involved in grooming can be confusing or intimidating to dogs, especially around the head and face. I work with my client pups with short "sessions" and lots of praise to help them understand what I'm asking of them and give them the opportunity to feel comfortable. Alfy here knows that he needs to hold very still while I'm trimming around his ears and eyes, and that he can set his face in my hand for comfort and stability during the trim. As you can see, Alfy is quite happy to do that! Good boy, Alfy! 💕

If I've ever told you my entire life is dogs, I wasn't kidding! When I'm not at work, I am an active member of the Peninsula Dog Fancier's Club and the Rat Terrier Club of America, and I spend my nights and weekends training and competing in dog shows and performance sports with my personal pups. Here's my dog Phaser showing off several new titles he won in a scent detection trial this past weekend!
